Title: Fishing Contest Ettiqute?

So... if you and some friends are having a fishing contest and someone's trying to catch a fish and you come up on them, what's the ettiqute? Are you allowed to try and get the fish they've obviously found/are trying to catch first, or should you go on and find your own?

Yep! You can't disturb the fish either, Mario was smacking his net into the water where I was fishing, and the fish didn't swim off.
