Title: Animal Crossing: Wild World Warning!
Post by: UncleBob on December 05, 2005, 07:29:24 PM
Just a quick note about AC:WW - I found this out tonight (the hard way) and wanted to warn anyone/everyone about it before you have it happen to you. I had my gate open for anyone to come over and while I was playing around town... My internet connection went down (for unknown reasons?)... Next thing I know, I have an error message on my DS saying that my game has to restart and I've lost all my changes since my last save...
Isn't that crappy?

Holy... oh, I thought you meant it erased your data. You shoulda saved.
Can you save without turning the system off in this one?

You have to "Save and Quit" everytime you want to save... There's no Save and Continue.

That sucks, at least it saves before you connect. I had frozen once and thought I was screwed, but it was all still there. I guess it's not a great idea just to leave your gate open unless you know someone's coming.

YES! RESETTI chewed me out for at least five minutes last night because I turned the power off without saving.

Mr. Resetti actually comes to your house and pounds you with a mallet...

A fair warning, I suppose, but I always save like crazy.
I think I've developed a complex over it. I'm CONSTANTLY saving. In RPGs where you can save anywhere, for example, I save after nearly every new item I get. "Oooh! A treasure chest! Time to save!"
Animal Crossing was a bit different since I have to go into the house and blah blah blah in the darkness but some days I'd be going in more than a couple times. Accidental game resets, etc. happen so rarely, I could probably play a huge game all day, saving only at night before bed, but I'd go nuts hoping to save all along the way even if I never truly NEED to.

Hahaha, same here...In co-op games my friends get pissed off because I'll insist on saving all the time... =D

I only do that in ToS and RE4 for some reason... In ToS I found mysefl saving, deciding to buy an item, and then saving again. It was pathetic.

I'm hoping that the number of disconnects will cut down as the servers weather the initial storm. I'm leaning towards thinking it's a problem on Nintendo's end, because most of the disconnects I've experienced have happened on events. Someone leaving, someone coming, etc.

Saving is the only thing I'm really OCD about. Sometimes I'll save a game three times in a row (especially if it doesn't take long, like Zelda games), just to make sure
