Title: International POST like a pirate day.
Post by: Dasmos on September 14, 2005, 01:23:34 AM
Monday the 19th of september is "International Talk Like a Pirate Day", so I was thinking at the forums we should have an day of posting like a pirate. On monday I will be posting like a pirate, and I want you to join me.....You know using phrases such as "Ahoy","Avast!", "Bilge", "Scurvy" and "Bung Hole" in everyday posts. If no-one joins me I will have to be a lone pirate!
But it would be a huge coming together for the forum and could be one of the highlights in its history.
Thanks to that ol' sea shanty that Kind Admin has in his signature is it? It has inspired me to propose this.

Although my voice mail message is usually me doing a bad pirate impersonation, today is an extra special day - and thus I've edited my outgoing message accordingly. If you get bored today, do give me a call. I won't answer, so you can hear my voice mail! (call anytime you want - if I'm sleeping, my phone will be in the other room anyway).

So... You're the punk who blocked your phone number!
Unfortunately for you, there is no blocking of phone numbers on cell phones. Restricted might block the Caller ID, but when my bill arrives in about 20 days or so, I'll have your phone number! haha!
To everyone else - in addition to one which I had and one which I kinda sorta had, I now have seven NWR phone numbers (soon to be eight with IceCold).
I don't know what to do with these though. I'm too nice to do anything too evil, like put your numbers on some kind of Fundrasing Call List for Hillary Clinton or something.
However! This entire thing was a secret contest! Those who called me (Bustin, darkheart, decoyman, EasyCure, ShyGuy and Ice Cold) - PM me your addresses and I'll get your prize (not a severed head) out here in the next few days.

I paid about $3 for all three prizes. And about $7 for the postage and envelopes. Whoo!
Oddly enough, one of you got gypped. Two packages weighed 1.1 oz and one package only weighed 1 oz... even though they were all the same thing. Dunno what that's all about...

It was actually just a ploy to harvest our personal information, wasn't it? First our phone numbers, then our addresses! NEXT, YOU'LL BE WANTING OUR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS AND OUR CHECKING ACCOUNT NUMBERS, SO YOU CAN WIRE A "PRIZE" INTO OUR ACCOUNTS. WHERE DOES IT STOP?!?

I think it's the lack of hair, the mean look on your face and the eyepatch.

Seriously. I mean no offense, but with the rosy cheeks and gold dangly earring, well, let's just say that's not the kind of pirate I was expecting.

"A Pirate Tale" a very, very, very short (but illustrated!) story
"Booty?! Tis mine!"
"Yar?! I be caught unawares!"
"Aye, ye'll walk outta 'ere with the booty... over me cold and rottin' corpse! Have at ye, ye lily-livered landlubber!"
zomgcliffhanger!

Nah, that's not it, ShyGuy. Photos, and flashes in particular, do weird things to people sometimes. You just need some Photoshop Magic!™
In fact... I had spinach for dinner tonight...
and I didn't floss until after the photos had been taken (nasty!), but you'd never know it now.

Your shiny teeth and you!
Title: RE:International POST like a pirate day.
Post by: decoyman on October 08, 2007, 05:25:54 PM
Hmm, maybe I should've left it in. You know, for reality's sake (I doubt many pirates have floss). And then I should've take it a step further, and cloned it into all my teeth! I mean, I think a pirate with good dental hygiene would get laughed off the plank.
Hypothesis: Amount of tooth gunk is proportionate to how good a pirate you are.
... umm, I think I crossed a line somewhere back there, and I apologize.

Decoyman, that first picture is awesome sauce.
Hey Unclebob, you have to post yourself with an eyepatch if we all do it, right? Your wife's photo will suffice as well.
