I don't get it why the XBOX controller links?

Some people might see that controller under that arrowed circle where it says software and think its an xbox controller.

Fake for many reasons, but one that I can point out by looking at the text, it's sort of slanted up and down and not straight, that's the result of skewing in Photoshop. Plus games don't have subtitles straight away. Also there's no backstory or anything to this pic, what is it? Who took it? More like who made it. Why is the date from the future, is this guy a time traveller?
This does have me frothing over what the Rev interface will be though.

er...well I don't know.
For one thing, Mario, the date's clearly 8-19. Unless you're from the past or something. o_o
And another...well, GC Advanced's 2.0 teaser page has arrows that look extremely similar to the ones over the controller...

Title: RE: A Rev Leak?hal
Post by: Spak-Spang on September 14, 2005, 04:29:14 AM
Nile: I noticed the Blue light and it makes me say fake. Reason. The controller looks exactly like another fake on the internet.
The boomerang shaped one, with the glowing buttons and such. This looks like an extention of that fake controller.
Title: RE: A Rev Leak?hal
Post by: Nile Boogie on September 14, 2005, 04:42:07 AM
I remember the fake you're speaking of but a while ago I said that the controller would have a "blue light with a special feature" so I'm just clinging on to some of my bias of prediction rather than being objective like I should be. Look kinda official to my untrained eye.
Title: RE: A Rev Leak?hal

It's possibly real, but frankly, I just can't see that type of game on a Nintendo console
Title: RE: A Rev Leak?hal
Post by: Fro on September 14, 2005, 06:17:50 AM
If this is a fake, it's a *really, really* good one. The text is slanted because of the angle the picture is taken at.
Also the guy in the shadows looks an awful lot like George Harrison from Nintendo. The focus is also right (when you change the lighting in photoshop, he is fairly clear while the screen in the back is somewhat blurry).
It'd be very possible for someone to non-discretely snap this on a cellphone, pass it around to a few buddies and have it leak out (or be leaked out on purpose by Nintendo).
And "GumShu: Bloody Afternoon" sounds like a game Shiggy would make if he got instructions to make a "more adult franchise".

Gumshoe: A privite detective. There was a nintendo game long ago on the NES by this same name. Produced by guess who?
If this isn't real , IT'S THE BEST FAKE I HAVE EVER SEEN.

The controller looks like it's being viewed head-on. Due to the angle of the picture it should be more "slanty".
Plus that shape looks so damn unergonomic. It's got that bulky design that board executives who have never used a controller in their life come up with. Since the SNES Nintendo has had very ergonomic controllers and I imagine they would stick with that. Unless it's a Revolution in discomfort.
But then since the controller is being obscured by that arrow maybe it's just a placeholder so that Sony and MS don't steal their precious idea.
That game though sounds pretty damn creative for some one to just make up for a hoax. Usually with these fake rumours the games are sequels to existing franchises or generic clones of competing games (ie: a Halo or GTA clone). I can't think of a typical fanboy who would make up a mature detective game. Though I'm not sure if the spelling is Engrish or the typical "I'm going to make a fake Rev screen but I'm a dolt who can't spell" routine.

I believe any similarities to reality would be completely coincidental. As long as the six pack was something good, I'd take that bet if it meant nobody would ever again post or discuss completely unsubstantiated pictures from nobodies with a blog if/when it's clearly shown to be BS. But we won't be so lucky.
This stuff reminds me of the attitudes in the earlier days of the web, back in 95-97... When if it was on the internet, it HAD to be true. Suddenly anybody can get unmerited attention because they have a free blog and a copy of photoshop.

So what is this supposed to be exactly? A screenshot of the Revolution's interface? Why would the controller be shown at the bottom of the screen, especially with a circle/arrow covering it? If anything, it would show the controller with the A button highlighted saying "Confirm" and the B button highlighted saying "Cancel" (or something similar).

This can't be at the GC, only Americans use the MM/DD/YYYY date format. NoE would have used the European format DD.MM.YYYY.

Also, theres some things about that picture that it doesn't seem logical a faker would think of...such as the baloon in the teaser screen, a big part of the original Gumshoe...

Please tell me how you know this. Seeing as how this title never came out of Japan and is quite obscure, I find it hard to believe that you actually played the game, or knew someone who played the game. I believe you found out about the balloon from (surprise!) the internet- the same exact internet that the potential fakers have unlimited access to! I am GumShu
Personally, I don't know what to think about this one. If it's a fake it's extremely well done, seeing as it's the only "leak" that I've ever thought had a serious possibility of being legit.
Edit: Just so you know, those other options under the picture are what seems to be "High Score," "Discuss," and "Review." That sounds pretty damn good to me. Also, I don't think that thing on the right says "Game Even" or "Game Over." Either way, it could be an e-mag or it could have something to do with the download service...

Somehow I cant believe Nintendo will make a game with the word "blood" or anything similar in the near or distant future, if anything its a "second" party although the term "second" party is very vague. Of course I still dont believe this, its very similar in style and design to an old fake already proven fake, I have to say, some people just have too much time in their hands.

And if Nintendo is really changing in that direction it just sucks. However if its indeed a new detective game the title might fit, it somehow reminds me of detective Conan. Anyway what was announced was a new IP from Miyamoto, and this of course isnt new.

Now that we know about the Controller for "Revolution" Does the image fake or not still contain hints of a menu system. As we now know the controller can be twisted, rolled, slashed, stabbed, etc.
The Rev controller can be used as a mouse now meaning a cursor to select options. The circled arrows I believe represent a cursor for which the software section has been selected. As if you move the controller to Wi-Fi or the e-mag it will become highlighted and once you press the A button you select this option and the circled arrows appear on that logo.
Does this make sense even though the image is possibly and more likely fake?
