Title: Yippie Skippy yet another Sonic game
Post by: Flames_of_chaos on September 07, 2005, 09:09:10 PM
According to themagic-box sega is making Sonic Riders which is a skateboarding racing game. So original sega so original. Well it has 4 player support and its for all 3 systems.

Also sega said the big difference between Sonic R and Sonic Riders is that Sonic Rider is eXtreme and you can also do moves. Horray for Sega using cheesy 80's music and now outdated buzzwords. YAY

The skateboard level in Sonic Adventure 2 was the best part of the game.

That being said, this will probably still suck.

My first reaction was negative, but Hostile Creation and Bartman's screenshots made me think again.  The concept sounds a little cheesy, but I think we should give Sega a hand for trying something different with the series instead of making another average 3D game based on the Sonic Adventure gameplay.  I hope it turns out extremely well.

What is this trash?  You'd think that if Sega has the resources to put out crap like Shadow and this racing game that they'd be able to do a 2d console Sonic...Oh, wait, Sega isn't about making good decisions...

Am I the only one who doesn't like ANY Sonic games? Even the originals are dull as heck.

Sonic might as well be made by EA now.  Sega's games these days are that uninspired.  It's ironic that a company known for their failings as a corporation is totally corporate now.  This is the type of game made by executive boards and shareholders, not game artists.

And why is Sonic Team so f*cking hung up on other characters?  No one gives a sh!t about any of these losers.  It's like they think Sonic & Knuckles was successful because it added another character so they have to use that formula for every game since.

Thats what I hoped when I saw pokemon dash for the first time...

Eh...they're just following the Nintendo formula now.  Mario's been doing sports for years...

About time the more athletic of the two gets a sports title.

My main problem with the series nowadays is that graphically, they seem stuck about two years behind everyone else.

Oh right. And the crappy gameplay.

Sonic Team really shines when it comes to 2D.  I really doubt they are going to screw up Sonic Rush.

And if they do...well...I'll just pretend I never played it and stick with Sonic 2.

Get with the program.  It's not a skateboard, it's a freaking hover-board.  Now that's class.

So let me get this straight... half you guys cream yourself when Nintendo even hints at a new Mario Kart game... yet when sega announces a Sonic branded racer you all call it uninspired crap before you've even seen it in action? I mean I know it's Sega and it's quite fashionable to rip on them but I'm willing to wait it out and see just how this game progresses before I start making judgemental statements like that.

Nintendo's recent track record is a million times better than Sega's particularly Sonic Team's.  Every 3D Sonic game has been at best mediocre.  Logically it makes no sense for us to suddenly assume that THIS time they'll make a good one.

It's like when Nintendo annouces a new console Pokemon game and we all assume it's going to be junk.  Sure we're jumping to conclusions but past history supports our assumption.

Sega is basically taking one slice of F-Zero GX, one slice of Tony Hawk, put them between 2 slices of bread, and sat on it.

I saw the video of this and im a bit excited. More so than that blasted Shadow the Hedgehog and more than what ever the next gen Sonic is going to be. I have no faith in Sonic Team anymore to make a great 3D Sonic platformer, but I always wanted a good Sonic racing game, and I like the idea of the air boards so I can't wait to see how this turns out.  These new characters don't bother me too much, but still why do we need more?  And I think that sums up most of my thoughts.

This just makes me feel like playing Sonic Rush even more than I already do (and I really want to now). Maybe that's SEGA's plan..
