Every so often I must ask a question of absurdness and foolish origin. Today is no different. Who wins a fight between a grizzly bear and a gorilla?

We've got an animal that can get up to around 300 pounds facing off against an animal that can reach a weight of a half-ton...A Grizzly would most likely destroy a Gorilla...

Well I did a bit of research and found this nugget of info:
"Kodiak bears can grow to 10 feet long and weigh over 1,000 lbs"
F*CK! In comparison silverbacks are like 5' 6" and weigh up to around half that. Gorillas are still huge but a huge grizzly can be twice the size. Grizzlies also have sharp teeth and claws while gorillas just have fists. However the gorilla is more agile so depending on the environment they might have success with hit-and-run attacks. Plus gorillas are smarter than grizzlies, or at least I assume so.
I'm going to go with a grizzly though. I feel the size gives them the edge plus they have more carnivore characteristics like fangs and such.
A sasquash however would totally own both of them.

I'm not sure of the speed of a gorilla, but Grizzly bears have a top speed of around 30 mph, so though they look big they aren't that slack in the agility department...And though gorillas ARE smarter, I don't think they really use much strategy when fighting...

Grizzly bears are monstrous, and although a Gorilla is nothing to scoff at, a bear's a bear. Grizzlies > Gorillas.

Gorillas are STRONG though. And they have the hands to lift and throw large rocks, though I have no idea if they have the brains to use them.

Even though bears are really, really big, I dont think the have the physical strength to stop a gorilla from pounding them into a rug. Figure how much of the bear is muscle compared to how much of the gorilla is muscle per capita. And Grizzly Bears at the most get 850lbs while gorillas can get to be about 600lbs, while not even, it really closes the gap. Couple that with the difference in muscle and I'm going with the gorilla.
On second thought bears kick ass

The Grizzly, due to enraged persistence and sharp claws. They have thick muscles, bone and skin. Hump on back maximizes strikes. Gorilla couldn't break Grizzly's skull.

Gorillas get around 400 pounds MAX while Grizzlies can get past 1000...

Donkey Kong would pwn that Banjo bear into the ground. Then he'd grab a chick and take her to the top of a construction site and start chucking barrels, cause he's awesome.

I think the bear would win, but I could see a gorilla winning.
Hippo's are the number one killer in africa I think, but on land it would never win....

Yes they are. But where do the people die? A. On land (the majority). They get trampled as the hippo makes its way from its feeding grounds back to the waterhole.
