I think even the old PS1 is out-selling the GameCube. Pathetic showing Nintendo. (crying)

awww poor puppy......anyways what i dont get is how the cube is being outsold by the xbox 2 to 1 now. this is re-god-damn-diculous. i swear who decides to buy an xbox. u know what i think the problem is. nintendo has too mnay good exclusives. if they would tone it down a bit. u know it reminds me of religion. most people dont like hard core religions cuz they cant measure up, so they flock the the religion u can do anything in.......u know which one i am talking about. so basically people cant live up to nintendos good games. they need to make more crap so people can feel more accpeted. and less exclusives. there ya go. and by the way i dont know how these numbers are possible. i dont know anyone here in so cal that gives respect to the xbox....ok well i do, but cube has a stronger following then 2 to 1. screw it.

"u know what i think the problem is. nintendo has too mnay good exclusives."
I seriously doubt that having the best games is going to hurt sales. I attribute it entirely to the fact that Microsoft has done absolutely everything right with the Xbox. They've marketed it perfectly, ensured a steady release schedule, grabbed a few major games to keep hardcore fans happy and released a lot of "safe" genre games to please the casual gamers. They've also made Xbox Live a major selling point for their console which makes the Gamecube's "we have only one online game" policy look really stupid and inferior. They also had that two free game deal around Christmas.
Nintendo has made a better console with better games but they don't market the system very well, are tight asses with third parties, and while they have many really great games they completely ignore certain genres which leaves a lot of holes in the Gamecube's library. They also have all sorts of weird consumer unfriendly ways of doing everything (no demo discs, $30 discounted titles instead of $20). Plus they offered no incentive for people to buy Cubes last Christmas. They have the free game thing now but they should have had it then.
Microsoft has put 110% into the Xbox while Nintendo has totally half-assed it. That's why the Gamecube is in last place.

I think really Nintendo isn't half-assing anything it is the way they do their job, they are probably satified with what they do. I mean Nintendo is like the Firarri of videogames or atleast in buisness practices. For Firarri it is quality over quintity, they apply this in production and obviosly in price. Their cars are often sold before the cars are even built, totally applies to Nintendo. Remeber Amazon.com complaining how Nintendo gives them 15 copies of a game and they all sell, but Rockstar gives 1500 copies of GTA3 and they all sell? Amazon's point is that why not try and send more coppies? Well I believe this is because for Nintendo, growth came when it came but I believe Nintendo is more consentrated on stability, they have lasted for over 100 years ya know. So Nintendo puts out as many copies as it need to not for growth but just for sticking around. If you guys want more proof of why Nintendo would do this sort of think keep arguing with me. I'll be back.
BTW, people need to stop complain about Nintendo proformance and start researching it, compare with old failures like the Saturn or the DreamCast for example. Then you can tell yorself where Nintendo is headed instead of complaining to everyone else.

I think both Ian Sane and Nintendork SP have valid points. Yes, Nintendo is not doing a great job as Ian Sane is putting it, and I think this because what Nintendork wrote--that Nintendo feels good about what they've done so far.
Anyway you look at it though, its always quite telling when triple A, critically acclaimed, GOTY's get pummeled by mediocre 3rd party offerings. I guess what one has to figure out now is whether that is reflection on the performance of Nintendo or reflection of the state of the industry, or in my opinion a combination of those factors.

It was January. What great games came out for the Gamecube? None I believe, so I don't see why peopel would want to buy a GC at that time.
And then the informed people waited till February for the free game deal.
Take sales number for one specific month... say March when Zelda comes out and we'll see how the numbers go.

Skies of Arcadia did, and Skies wasnt even on the list While MEDIOCRE games that get bashed by reviewers like The Getaway and Devil May Cry 2 make the list? What is F'n Wrong with people?
Im hoping this stuff gets to Nintendo so they can know that they are not alright. They need to get it in gear! Crap like this always worries me!

Like Perfect Cell said, 'Skies of Arcada' came out and it is not on this list at all. Why would Sega make Skies 2 for GameCube? Very depressing this list. Metroid should still be on there at least!

Jarob: Skies of Arcadia was out for 2-3 days in January and managed to sell about 20,000 copies. I'm actually encouraged by the early results. Like it or not, you'll have to wait until the February NPD data comes out before any solid determination can be made about Arcadia's commercial success or lack thereof.
Anyway the January stats are a rather disheartening but logical extension of the unexpected thrashing that Nintendo took this holiday season. Hopefully, the free game offer and the Zelda bonus disk promotion will give Nintendo some momentum in February and March.

7) Skies of Arcadia Legends - 19,693
I posted that in the other thread. The game was only out for a couple a days and it didn't have a huge ad campaign. I think that sales will pick up due to the increase of GameCube sales.

Although not to degrade any AAA title that may have made that software list, all software sales lists prove is what the majority of gamers (ie. mainstreamers, casual players) buy. There are many low level sale games out there that may appeal to hardcore gamers or niche games that appeal to the monority (Skies of Arcadia anyone?), however this doesnt mean that possible mediocre games that rellie on strong liscensing and advertising and sell well because of public appeal to the mainstreamers are not better than the actual low level sale hardcore games out there. Confused? Sales lists just prove what mainstreamers are attracted to.
Oh and Nintendo will strike back, its just your all too busy whinning when rather than just playing what you have got currently.
