Title: DS Price Drop?
Post by: jasonditz on August 12, 2005, 02:46:17 PM
Fairly reliable poster at Cheapassgamer is reporting a $20 price drop in the Nintendo DS... anyone have any other sources on it?

If it's true then Nintendo will make a press release sooner or later.

Will it still be bundled with Super Mario 64 DS? Or something else? I don't think they should drop the price, the price is fine. $150 for a new system + a game, that's good value, while still having the feel of an expensive gadget.

The price is not the reason it's not selling, NOA.

Or maybe the $150 bundle stays and they're going to offer $129 for a system with no game?

You're right though... if we had half the games here they have in Japan, the DS would be flying off the shelves.

I think that they should just offer a new bundle. Maybe with Hunters or something.

NO, a new bundle bundled with Nintendogs for a price of $150 and I think NOA will see teh results that they are looking for.

Do you mean the Hunters demo are the full version?  Last i saw Hunters was going to be released awhile aways from now.  Does the demo still get packed in?

I still think the only bundle that makes sense (which is why it probably won't happen) would be the Nintendogs bundle.

Everyone that has bought the DS so far probably has the Hunters demo, and if they want more they will go out and buy the full game.  While I see Hunters selling a good amount of units I don't see it as a system seller.

Nintendogs on the other hand could be that game thats attracts everyone that has not yet picked up a DS to actually do so.

Just make three different bundles, each a different color box, Then it would almost be like a collectors item as people might buy all three, just for the different boxes.

And for those not interested in Nintendogs could get a Mario Kart DS bundle a few weeks later.
If Nintendogs can't sell the DS I know Mario Kart can

Full version and no, the Hunters Demo doesn't get packed in anymore... right now you either get a DS with nothing or a DS with Mario 64... both are the same price which is I'm guessing what prompted the price drop.

Wouldn't that make for six differnt bundles? That's way to many boxes to make for one promotion.
