You can't simply ask someone to not name their child a certain name because you want to call your child the same name! I am paying for Nintendogs and I am simply not going to call my pup, "Brian" for instance, because someone over the other side of the earth wants the name to be his.
Yes i would consider my "Nintendog" my child........

I don't know how much I will play this game, but I will get it just to teach the dog tricks. I will have one "bad" dog that will learn commands that shouldn't be spoken outloud. Just for kicks.

They gave it an 8.8 - which I find a bit odd since Craig appears to have really enjoyed the title and only had some minor complaints in regard to the voice recognition.
GameSpot's Review
GameSpot gave it a 9.1 - that's more like. Also, GameSpot is much more critical so a 9.1 is like a "10" just about everywhere else.

I picked up my copy yesterday, and named my white chihuahua "Dingo"
(which may or may not be short for "Nindingo")I got a kick out of how Dingo seems to be, er, "marking his territory" at the same spot each time we go for a walk (shows up as a little blue circle on the map).

Must get Advance Wars, the place i went to get nintendogs didn't have it, and other places said that they didn't get it yet or they haven't entered them into the computers! <--WTF, lazy bums!
Oh and i just saw both Nintendog commercials, the one with the girl is okay, but the one with that boy is scary. Makes me cringe inside.

Question: How do you teach voice commands to your dog? I already thought him 'Sit' (the first command and it was in the tutorial mode when you first start), but now, I say other commands, the bulb lights up (he understood) but It won't let me name the command. What am I doing wrong?
Also, sometimes when I'm playing with him, a bone (?) lights up below the dog. What does that do?

Basically, I got around 20 new friends plus several new breeds and home decor options just by carrying it around at PAX. Once it finds a dog, it remembers that dog until you open your DS again. Then you get to see the other persons dog and check their stats. When your dog returns home, you add the other trainer to your friends list and possibly unlock something. I gave away my white rubber bone on accident the first time I did it... I received a lot of garbage from people's dogs, but right at the end, one brough me a red rubber bone, so that was cool.
Every time I saw a dog that I couldn't purchase, when I returned it said the kennel got a new batch of puppies in, so thats cool.

You have to keep repeating the command several times until he learns it. Some commands take longer than others, and it helps to use a consistent tone of voice and avoid commands that sound like other commands. Drag either the light bulb or the bone to the dog's mouth to give it a treat and reinforce the command you just gave it.
