Title: tactile feedback.
Post by: norebonomis on June 19, 2005, 02:24:23 PM
has anyone taken a look at this? tactiva i want to know if this is real. they claim it is in 'pre-production' phases and looking for investors. i'm liking this whole tactile feedback thing that is developing. our interactions with technology are going to become very interesting in the near future.

does anyone have some links about what haptics is?

Anyway, haptics are just touch screens with feedback, so that it seems like you're pushing a button when you actually aren't. It still is a possibility, because Iwata said "we have no plans of using dual screens similar to the DS" - he did not rule this out.

That haptic touch screen idea is alright, but it doesn't interest me.

What does is the controller's ability to send force/vibration with a specific velocity. There's no more use for the arrows on-screen that tell you where your getting hit from. You will already know very accurately where your being shot from using haptics, and thus make for quicker responses and less confusion (i.e. more realistic).

Ask nemo_83 about haptics, he positively looooooooooooooves them.....or at least thinks they should be implemented in games....

if you play pc games. check out this tactiva thing. http://tactiva.com i think it could be applied to gaming in some very interesting ways. but i think it's still too small a step of what could be.

Snap.

I like the idea of tactile feedback myself. But I'd have to get "hands-on" (pardon) with one to really know how I felt (oh god sorry) about playing with a controller implenting tf on a routine basis.

Rancid, Rancid, you don't need to apologize. Instead just write in brackets "Note the unintentional innuendo Bloodworth" and all will be forgiven

damn off topic again so...

Yea - I would be willing to give haptics a try. And I'm sure Nintendo would test the technology thoroughly before releasing it.

"haptics" sound cool but THE REVOLUTION WILL NOT USE ANY THING WEIRD, WACKY, ODD, VR, VR HELMET, OR A TOUCH SCREEN IN THERE CONTOLLER!!! So stop repeating the lie!
