Title: Phantom and NGage 2?
Post by: NRevolutionR on June 17, 2005, 07:14:00 AM
I was just wandering, what ever happened to the Phantom and NGage 2?
I hope they're dead, just out of curiosity that I want to know

The Phantom isn't dead, although I still doubt it will ever see the light of day. Someone on my forums was even rumbling about the system just a few days ago, seems it was shown on something called AOTS (Attack of the Show):
As for the NGage 2, I fully expect to see it come out, as I don't think Nokia can take a hint.

I saw it on AOTS and it was a pretty weak showing. All they did was confirm that it exist in physical reality and that it uses software and can download games. No games were played(if I remember correctly) so who knows how well this things even works. It will most-likely never come out, and if it does don't really expect to hear about it too much.
Ngage2..... wasn't it at E3? I remember starting a thread about it a while ago but I never heard anything avbout it since. Oh well who cares........
edit: i didi a quick search and >HERE< is the thread

Nonono, the PSP has no camera, no phone functionality, no radio and you can remove the UMD without opening the case and removing the battery.

Actually the NgageQD removed that problem AFAIK.

It also removed the radio. I know. But hell, Nokia now lists "Sidetalking" as a feature of the NGage...

Im waiting to see the pricing model for the phantom. If its a low set price then the consol is your to do as you please then it might be interesting. Why you might ask, well from my viewpoint all there parts are standard cpu parts. Unless they are soldered onto the board or what not you may be able to get a cheap video card, processor, harddriver and ram package.

The Phantom is nonupgradeable so I dout it. Plus it will not be as power ful as nextgen system. It as powerful as a pc in a wal-mart at a higher price. what did you think you were getting an alienware pc?

Its not as bad as you think last i saw it was a athlong 2500 but that was gonna change for the time and i think it was gonna be either 256 or 512 mb ram, and a 80 gb harddrive. Are you sure its not upgradable? I guess tehy changed there original plans.

They plan to upgrade the Phantom when you send it in. IIRC they wanted to seal the entire hardware in resin to make it impossible to mod.

Nothing a good recipricating saw cant get through, the resin that is. That just makes me think that its even more like a computer because they are putting that in effect.
