It's up now guys, I don't know why Obi had this thread up for hours beforehand. Anyway, I'm a little upset that the same games that wound up winning multiple categories (except Zelda, which deserved it), but all of the winners are good games. I just wish Mario Kart and Phoenix Wright could have won.

I'm so excited I managed to pick up one of the Mario Kart RC cars on ebay for only 18 bucks. I can't wait for it to arrive.

Several of us played Gunstar Super Heroes. Frankly, I wasn't very impressed by it. The controls were strange, and it just wasn't as much fun as something like Metal Slug, despite being extremely similar.
I think the problem with Mario Kart DS is that it's so familiar, no one cares that much when there are so many new kinds of DS games at the show. Plus, the main feature - online play - isn't really appreciable at a show like E3.

This is off topic but I kind it very funny how in Jonny's Miyamoto avatar the Asian guy is opening his eyes up real wide while the white guy is squinting.

How can Trauma Center: Under the Knife win best Puzzle Game and best Misc. Game? How can it be both? My head is about to explode.

That's my complaint, vudu! Someone actually pointed out the potential problem when we were drafting nominees, but no one (including me) seemed to care that much at the time.
Jonny has disregarded Mario Kart for as long as I've known him, since he considers each version too similar to get excited over. I see where he is coming from, but Mario Kart DS delivers where both Super Circuit and Double Dash dropped the ball: ultra-precise controls and (in Super Circuit's case) GENUINE recreations of the SNES tracks. I don't see the game as just the DS version, but as what is shaping up to be the best Mario Kart game yet. Online play is the big new feature though, and Jonny is correct in that it doesn't shine through well on a showroom floor.

Wait, are those damn Lik-sang ones the same thing? I was hoping for E3 logos and what not....
I feel sheepish.

The idea of the Miscellaneous category was to throw in all the crazy games...not necessarily games that didn't fit into other categories. It's not a genre award per se. I think there were a couple of other games also nominated in both a genre category and the Misc. category. We probably should have called this award "Craziest Game" or something, but we wanted to include some kind of judgement of quality as well, otherwise Odama would win easily. But Odama sucks and doesn't deserve to win anything except morbid curiosity.

Actually, Odama was pretty crummy this year. It tries to do too many things at once for it to make any sense.

I have never seen one of those RC cars outside of lik-sang. I doubt that you'd find one at gamestop; stevey's must have been a special case.
Edit: ODAAAAAAAAAMA ;_____; It will turn out good, just you wait and see >=O

KN, quite the contrary. I work at a GameStop...we have at least 5 available.
More on topic: I am angry beyond reason to not see Nanostray (See: Graphics or action game) or Meteos (See: PUZZLE!!!) not take anything at all.

UniversalJuan, both were nominated for both the categories you mentioned. But they didn't win. I for one am not a fan of Meteos, honestly, though perhaps I needed more time to get out of Panel de Pon mode.

Odama was more fun and more interesting last year. Since then, they've made it more complicated and much less fun. It's one of the worst E3 demos I've ever played from Nintendo, and I'm kind of shocked that they put it out there for "public" consumption. It needs a TON of work before it'll be fit to release.

Sorry guys, Meteos is fun but games only last around 5 minutes max, no matter how good you are at it. That's no puzzle game to me. The game is fun and I will probably get it, but Lumines destroys it in every way possible.

Oh yeah, someone either sucks or needs to play another mode.
