Title: About WI-FI?
Post by: NRevolutionR on April 27, 2005, 05:39:05 AM
As a person that lives out in the country, and only has 56K internet, will I be able to get a WI-FI router that will enable me to play my DS games online?
If so, how will it work, and will it be to slow to count any way?

No, wireless routers require a broadband connection and it wont work at all with 56K.

I have a question. With this whole Wi-Fi thing. I have a broadband internet connection, and a wireless router to network my upstairs computer to the Internet. Is that Wi-Fi? As in, will having that enable me to play DS/Revolution online?

So does that mean that I will not be able to play the DS or Rev online from my home?

Well unless your country will have broadband service I'm afraid that your screwed well anyways almost every online game (even on PS2) requires you to have broadband so its not really like you'll only get screwed out of the DS and Rev for online play but really you'll be screwed out of online play no matter what system you will have.

Look at the bright side - if your friends have a Rev you will probably be able to connect to play LAN games - without cables...it should be very convenient

Building on IceCold's comment, it's possible you will not even need a router for LAN play. After all, the DS doesn't need one for multiplayer.

Yea - thanks TYP, that's what I meant. He had said that he didn't have broadband, so he couldn't get a router, but he can still play multiplayer games DS-style with his Revs router-less

Make that "highly likely" instead of "possible". It'd really surprise me if the Rev couldn't work without a router.

Given you don't need a router for a computer wireless network, you probably won't for the consoles.

Actually you need a wireless router since the router transmits the data to the wireless cards/device.
