A blue Nintendo DS will come stateside in June.

Nintendo Announces First New Color for Nintendo DS: 'Electric Blue'

New Color Follows Sale of Nearly 2 Million Systems in North America

REDMOND, Wash.--April 19, 2005--Nintendo of America Inc. introduces the first new color in the Western Hemisphere for its popular Nintendo DS(TM) portable video game system. "Electric Blue" debuts in June and will become a permanent color in the DS palette, joining the original silver-and-black model, named "Titanium."

"This eye-catching new color comes at an ideal time," says George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. "Nearly 2 million Nintendo DS owners in North America alone have demonstrated they want something new from a hand-held video game system. Soon, consumers will have two popular choices for the innovative dual-screened Nintendo DS, which features touch-screen control, voice recognition and wireless play."

June also will see the release of two exciting new DS games. On June 13, Kirby(TM): Canvas Curse will bring a new touch-screen twist to a popular franchise. Players will draw rainbow paths for Kirby to roll along as he stuns enemies and takes on their abilities. And on June 27, the highly anticipated and highly addictive puzzle game Meteos(TM) will have players launching deadly falling meteors back into space with touch-screen precision.

Does anyone know of any news of a all-black DS? I wanted a SP in that color, and it didn't come out for a year after I had gotten mine. I will either be waiting for a black DS, or just wait for the GBE

hmmm, I will eventually need to get a second DS for pokemon most likely and a new color will make it an easier buy for me to convince myself of.  two of the same color just isn't good enough.

this color isn't really that great. I'd rather get the white one, or the black one.

If I buy me madre one it might be this color.

Er....

it is?

I know Kirby is coming out, but what else?

Or is that what makes it a huge DS month?

Seriously, my PSP makes me happy in my pants.  I have 4 games for it at launch that are fantastic, with more coming soon.  Nintendo has failed it's fans with the DS.  If it had Mario Kart, Metroid, and Super Mario out already, I'd be happy, but jesus christ.. 6 months, and we have one decent game (Wario Ware), and one decent game we've already played (Mario 64).

Sorry, I love my Gamecube (also a lack of games), and I love Nintendo's games, but they've screwed up.  I hope their new system is truly revolutionary, because I want to see them succeed.  But from what I've been told (insiders), their CPU is definitely the weakest of the three (by a long shot).  I hope the gameplay makes up for it.

Kirby, Meteos, Bomberman DS, Nanostray (not quite confirmed yet)...And there's also rumour of Another Code coming out in June...

Yep.  Because I know no one around me, and I don't understand how the DS online will work with me having evil dialup (let alone it understand it being online in the first place, but I tend to think too hard about techno stuff)

Awesome. That's probably the one I'll end up getting. Though I do wish they'd come out with another "Ice Blue" handheld, just like my ol' Ice Blue Gameboy Pocket.

I'd like to see a blue PSP...

I like blue.  This makes me want a DS now.  Yes, I'll play Nintendogs on my blue DS and make people question my sexuality...

Aaaanyway, when I was waiting in line for a GARBAGE concert on Saturday, this guy in front of me was playing with a DS and he kept talking to the people he was with (who absolutely didn't give a fluck) about the music or something.  I'd never seen one in person before, and it looked bigger than I thought it would.

My girlfriend is going to be happy, but I am slightly disappointed. Why are we getting “Americanized” Nintendo DS colors instead of the stylish pastel Japanese ones? I really want the white Nintendo DS so badly; I’d be thrilled if Nintendo released it here. It looks iPod-eqsue. I don't get it... We get two colors, Japan gets five +? Shows who Nintendo is thinking of.

This is probably Reggie’s fault. Him and his talk of hip-hop ElectroPlankton. Psh…

DON'T YOU DARE BLAME REGGIE FOR IT

Of course Nintendo is thinking of Japan, that's where they're located.  But we are getting colors, and this may seem a little crazy but I daresay we'll get more sometime.
