Title: Hooking up multiple Gamecubes, xbox style
Post by: Nosferat2 on April 17, 2005, 09:10:27 AM
Excuse my ignorance. i think i know the answer to this question but maybe some guru may know the true answer.  Can i hookup two gamecubes the way xbox's can be hooked up?
We want to have a massive Echoes turnament(sp). Me and my friends are sucked into multi player metroid. 4 people dooking it out in echoes is incredibly intense and fun. We cant get enough of it.  We want to have 8 people blasting away at each other in the "shooting gallery" for my graduation from law school. Is it possible? I doubt it but if so can any of you tell me how?
Thanks For any and all information.

So basically you're asking for LAN play. Yes this is possible with the GC, and you need broadband adaptors and other LAN equipment to get it done. Unfortunately not many GC games support LAN play, and i know Echoes doesn't, so you're out of luck in that regard.

Mario Kart does, Kirby does, 1080 avalanche does....um, I can't think of any others..

Yeah broadband adaptors and just a run of the mill ethernet crossover cable should do it. I think you can daisychain (?) up to 8 cubes togethor.

Daisychain? BS, you'd need two broadband adapters for that. Use a regular ethernet switch and that's it.

LAN Compat Games:

   *  Mario Kart: Double Dash!! (2-16 players)
   * 1080: Avalanche (2-4 players)
   * Kirby's Aire Ride (2-4 players)

Hardly seems worth it

Thanks for the help fellaz, IF i cant do it with Metroid i won do it at all, which blows.
we'll just play on two seperate TV's, then maybe the ranks 1 and 2 will duck it out with each other on one of the Tv's

Thanks again.
