I saw a DS commercial the other day, and they mentioned Metroid Prime Hunters First Hunt as if it was some great new title available (as in, to buy) for the DS.
It seemed completely stupid to me. I think that they fooled you into thinking they were talking about the full-version.

it said Nintendo DS, Metroid Prime Hunters coming soon
It wasnt a commercial about First Hunters... it was about the actual full game.... Im suprised because the game isnt coming out yet any time soon
They didnt "fool" me im just shocked they would plug it now... when its not scheduled for months

Just because EB's site *says* it's not coming out till August by no means makes it the truth...I guess we'll see soon...

How do you guys feel about the hunters demo. All my brothers think its really boring. I liked it. It wasnt the greatest game Ive played but the control were really appealing to me. The gameplay was okay. Did you all enjoy the demo too.

I find First Hunt's controls to be awkward. But I don't own a DS, I've just played demos in stores and at events with Nintendo reps, so I imagine I would get used to the setup if I put more time in it. Plus I've never played it with another person so I'm likely missing out on a huge part of its appeal. My problem is that it doesn't feel at all like a Metroid game. It's the generic FPS I was afraid Retro was going to turn Metroid Prime into (but thankfully didn't). It looks like it's Metroid in name only and only uses the franchise to attract more interest much like Star Fox Adventures. The demo suggests that the final product may be a decent FPS but a lousy Metroid game. I would prefer it if Nintendo just made it a new franchise and didn't taint Metroid's legacy with unrelated cash-in spinoffs.

No no no if you hear the commercial its says NintendoDS now WITH Metroid Prime Hunters:First Hunt so it means basically that the system comes WITH Metroid Prime Hunters:First Hunt.

Anyone know where to find it online? After a brief search I turned up nothing.
The controls in this, after I got over my initial discomfort, are awesome. They're more standard FPS, which disturbs me a bit (I'm in agreement with Ian as far as wanting a true Metroid game), but they're decent. That genre shows a lot of promise for the DS.

I just saw the commercial again (the one that I'm thinking about).
They've got customs agents (or whatever they are) cracking open a ship's cargo container with Nintendo crates in it, as if they were drugs.
Then they have a police APB style announcement come over a radio-sounding thing, saying "Be on the lookout for hit new titles, like Need For Speed Underground, Mario 64, and Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt", while running game footage from those games.
I don't think it's a very good commercial. Oh yeah! Buy a DS for Mario 64! That's apparently all it's good for. N64-ports. And show lots of uncomplimentary game footage! They're probably better off not airing this kind of ad until they get some better games on the DS.
BTW, I'm pretty sure I've seen two other versions of this commercial, one with Ridge Racer DS, and the other with Rayman DS, both in the place of Need For Speed. Mario 64 and First Hunt were in all three, IIRC.

Heh i havent seen that one....
the one im talking about is simply for Metroid Prime Hunters and once again NOT the demo... which is pleasantly shocking

I've seen the ad ruby saw. He's right in that the footage isn't very good. Other than that thought the format of the ad is pretty good. It shows the games much more than the average Nintendo commercial and isn't full of dumb little skits. I think it's a Canadian ad though. There have been a lot of ads shown lately that are different than anything the Americans on this site talk about and that have a different slogan. It's "Too Much Fun." Anyway I like them a lot more than any of the American ads I used to see.

I definitely saw a commercial for metriod prime hunters...
This guy went up to this salad bar, and it had that glass cover. Their was a fly that landed on some lettuce. He touched the glass and the fly blew up. Then it said, Metroid Prime Hunters, coming for the Nintendo DS, NOT FIRST HUNT...

First Hunt is just the name of the demo for Metroid Prime Hunters... right?

Well since the Vice President of Sales and Marketing happens to be a certain Reginald Fils-Aime, I'm not too surprised. Besides there isn't really much else to say about the DS at the moment so why not pimp some games.

I thought commercial was just advertising the DS not the game. The game game was just shown to give the viewer someting to look forward to.

It's disappointing that it does not show any footage. I think the marketing campaign for the actual DS is clever. But I don't think showing exploding flies will get people to buy games.

It does have a few seconds of footage...Enough to get a feel that you shoot things...And welcome to the world of advertising, where you might realize that it's not actual gameplay that interests the casual gamer...

Awesome, Berto, thanks ver' much!
Pretty cool commercial, the footage is a little short but it's not even a very long commercial. Definitely a cool concept, and 'splosions are always a good selling point.
