Title: Nintendo Ships Wario Ware: Touched! For DS
Post by: Jonnyboy117 on February 15, 2005, 04:27:33 AM
Savor this DS release - who knows when we'll get another one.

WarioWare: Touched! Puts More Than 180 Games in the Palm of Your Hand

This is the Nintendo DS Game that Fans are Waiting For

REDMOND, Wash.--Feb. 15, 2005--WarioWare™: Touched! is the Nintendo DS™ game you've been waiting for; 9-Volt, Kat, Ana, Dr. Crygor, Jimmy, Mona and, of course, Wario™ are back. Wario may not always be nice, but he knows how to have a good time. WarioWare: Touched! provides hours of dual-screen fun, as players zip through more than 180 mini-games.

"WarioWare: Touched! showcases the unique touch-screen abilities of Nintendo DS," says George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. "Players will spend hours mastering the highly addictive five-second games and collecting special souvenirs."

WarioWare: Touched! builds on the success of the wildly popular WarioWare series. But this version offers completely new ways to play. Most mini games will have players tapping, dragging or rubbing the touch screen, while others require them to blow into the built-in microphone. Half the fun is figuring out exactly what each mini game requires the player to do.

A mini game might call for a player to use the touch screen to spin a roll of toilet paper, strike a match or chop vegetables. Others ask them to blow into the microphone to tickle someone's ear or to cool a cup of coffee. The further a player progresses, the faster and more frantic the games get. Top players will collect a variety of souvenirs, such as a playable piano, a pet chameleon and a pingpong game.

Nintendo has sold more than 2.8 million Nintendo DS systems worldwide. By the end of March, 6 million units will have shipped worldwide. WarioWare: Touched!, Rated E for Everyone, is available now.

The worldwide leader and innovator in the creation of interactive entertainment, Nintendo Co., Ltd., of Kyoto, Japan, manufactures and markets hardware and software for its popular home and portable video game systems. Each year, hundreds of all-new titles for the best-selling Game Boy® Advance SP, Nintendo DS™ and Nintendo GameCube™ systems extend Nintendo's vast game library and continue the tradition of delivering a rich, diverse mix of quality video games for players of all ages. Since the release of its first home video game system in 1983, Nintendo has sold more than 1.9 billion video games and more than 336 million hardware units globally, creating enduring industry icons such as Mario™ and Donkey Kong® and launching popular culture franchise phenomena such as Metroid®, Zelda™ and Pokemon®. A wholly owned subsidiary, Nintendo of America Inc., based in Redmond, Wash., serves as headquarters for Nintendo's operations in the Western Hemisphere.   For more information about Nintendo, visit the company's Web site at www.nintendo.com.

Eh, I'm more likely to buy the new GBA Zelda to play on my DS than this. I loved the first WarioWare and am still getting tons of replay out of it, so I don't want to tarnish or cheapen that experience with a version that has been getting noted for it's short playtime.

I think I'll be picking this up.  I've been wanting a new game for my DS and I've been wanting to try out the Warioware series, so this is ideal.  If I like it, which I'm thinking I will, I'll grab the GBA version for cheap somewhere.

I'm not sure if there was a lag or it was released early up here, but I've had WW:Twisted since last week (I'm in Canada).  For C$39.99 Cdn, it is the perfect DS selling game. It should've been a launch game. It uses the stylus in different ways for different levels (spinning, dragging, making lines, etc.), it also uses only the microphone for one level (fun!).  It builds on the first WW and is quite fun.

Chain:  I'm suree you meant Touched, not Twisted, because Twisted isn't released over herefor another month.  But still, it seems that you lucked out on that.  Some store got an early shipment and broke street date........doesn't that mean other stores can break street now, too?

Hostile:  Buy the first one RIGHT NOW.  It's seriously one of the best GBA games out there.  And then buy Twisted.

I NEED TWISTED NOW.  I NEED TOUCH AND GO NOW.  Just one more month ;____;

I think WarioWare: Twisted is better than WarioWare: Touched (going by their Japanese versions)...

I just got WarioWare: Touched today, and I am really enjoying it. I am taking my time too, not zipping through the game.

Oops, yeah I meant WW:Touched.  The little bonus prizes that you win are sometimes interesting, but more than a few have been bizarre... like why would you want an over timer?

That's just the way Wario Ware is...

*picking it up this weekend alongside SASS hopefully!*

Ack, there is that SASS again?  What game is that?  I feel so stupid.. =P

I tried to nab this yesterday.  Most stores didn't have it.  I stopped into EBGames against my will only because I wanted it so bad.  They proceeded to tell me they already sold out and I am stupid for not preordering.  Then they tried to talk me into pre ordering the next 15 titles for the DS.  God I hate that place.  Anyway, the nice guy at Toys R Us told me he expeected them this afternoon, so i'll stop on the way home.

I like how Bill has bolded the "Ass" in Assault.  Seems fitting judging by all the reviews and impressions given.

Why not call it SAss? That'd go a long way in denoting that it's actually two words, not four.

More like, "will kick ass," Ian...

And you do whatever you want, I'm using SASS (mainly because I like the word sass and it's easier to type...)

Wouldn't it make more sense to throw an 'F' in there since it's Star Fox Assault?  SF64 for example is often used to abbreviate Star Fox 64.  Though it's a total pain in the ass that both Star Fox Adventures and Assualt have the same initials.  You figure someone at Nintendo would have noticed that.  Next thing you know the new Zelda is going to be called Ocean of Twilight and we'll be eternally confused whenever someone uses the OoT abbreviation.

Edit: I just realized that Metroid Pinball is going to goof up Metroid Prime's MP abbreviation.  Another reason to rag on it I suppose.

I get into this argument all the time...Starfox is one word...

Next thing you know the new Zelda is going to be called Ocean of Twilight and we'll be eternally confused whenever someone uses the OoT abbreviation.

Then we'll shorten it to...OcT!

I just realized that Metroid Pinball is going to goof up Metroid Prime's MP abbreviation.  Another reason to rag on it I suppose.

That doesn't surprise me in the least...

"I get into this argument all the time...Starfox is one word..."

Some quick research shows that on the box art all of the games indeed look like it's one word though the F is capitalized and techincally it says "StarFox64" with no spaces on the box.  However Nintendo.com lists "Star Fox: Assault", "Star Fox Adventures" and "Star Fox 64".  So I'm inclined to believe that since Nintendo thinks it's two words that it likely is.

Bill is just capitalizing it SA/SS because of his political affinity .

And hey, while the gimmicks might suck, Bouncing Alien Ball owns!

Anyone have the complete lyrics to the great Ashley's theme song?

Title: RE:Nintendo Ships Wario Ware: Touched! For DS
Post by: Aussie Ben PGC on February 17, 2005, 01:32:09 PM
Here are the almost complete English lyrics for Ashley's Theme (bold indicates Ashley singing):

Who's the girl next door living in the haunted mansion?
You'd better learn my name cause I am ASH-LEY!
She knows the darkest spells and she brews the meanest potion
You might be the ingredient I seek
Don't let yourself be fooled by her innocent demenour
You should be afraid of the great ASH-LEY!
She doesn't play with dolls and she never combs her hair
Who has time for girly things like that?

Eye of Newt - I cast a hex on you
Grandma's Wig - This'll make you big
Kick tin spit - Soon your pants won't fit
Hey, ????'s gigantic ???!*

Oh no, not again!

She can rule the world and still finish all her homework
Everyone knows that I'm the greatest! ASH-LEY!
You'd better watch your step or she'll cast a spell on you
I turned my teacher into a spoon.

I looked at my spell book, and if it's true,
I don't have as many friends as you
But, I think your nice, and maybe we could be friends
And if you say no, you're toast.

Who's the girl next door living in the haunted mansion?
You'd better learn my name cause I am ASH-LEY!
Just remember this when you see her on the street -
I'm the cruelest girl you'll ever meet.

* I'm sorry, but that sentence is completely incomprehensible.

THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

After listening a few times, I think that line might be "Hey, it's a gigantic kid". But what do I know. I couldn't understand half of the theme song which is why I'm so grateful to get the almost complete lyrics.

Ah, I thought it was just a loop of three or four sentences over and over.

I got stuck on this by Jonny in my review too.  Star Fox is indeed two words, despite the logo suggesting otherwise.

Yeah.  In SF64, when Star Wolf first comes out, Wolf says, "Can't let you do that Star Fox."  That's one hint right there.

If that isn't enough, if you look on the back of the case of Assault, it says "...and Team Star Fox is the only..."
