Title: playing USA bought games in Ireland/UK
Post by: cmac50 on February 14, 2005, 09:03:42 AM
Hello forum members,
I am hoping that someone here will be able to help me with this query.
My son (lucky devil that he is) is just back home from a trip to LA. Whilst there he bought 4 games for himself but unfortunately they will not play on his Gamecube. He's only 10 yrs old so didn't realise they would be in a different format.
Can anyone please suggest what he can do? I'd be extremely grateful.
Thank you, Christopher McCreedy. cmac@esatclear.ie

What Bill said. By the way, if you ever go back to the US, know that handheld games (such as the Game Boy Advance or Nintendo DS) work on any region. A British Game Boy or DS will play Japanese or American games perfectly.

*nods* I own a Freeloader myself and have never had a problem. Other than some games have a weird tendency not to be able to save data when using Freeloader, such as using a Japanese Donkey Konga on a US GameCube.

I haven't encountered any issues with the Freeloader yet, the only annoyance is the whole disc swapping thing.

Well new PC games are usually very tame after you get past installing it (they need to never ship a game on 5 CDs again! what's wrong with a DVD?). You don't even need to check for patches anymore since the game will automatically download any new patches whenever you try to play online. And if you play single player only then patches probably won't affect you anyway.
