Actually, I think that last is the most level-headed response I've ever seen.

There was a bit of a fuss about this guy a while ago because he hates Nintendo or something. He seemed absolutely fine from those replies, especially considering he obviously likes the PSP better than the DS.

Obviously he's not going to like Nintendo or any of their products...

Well when Vic and Tommy reviewed the DS on Judgement Day Tommy's main cons of the system where that the buttons were alittle too small and that the touch screen/2nd screen was more of a gimmick now but Vic was very happy with the system. Both of them recommended the system.

Define "level-headed".

Wow you just made a fool of yourself.
Bloodworth seems to be the only sane one.
And I happen to agree with Tommy, I will get the GBE when it comes out in several years but that's too far to ignore the PSP or DS. And titles that are on both DS and PSP, I see no reason to buy the DS version, unless it's proven better cause of something. Personally, I don't recommend either at this point, and both have cool games coming.

I've heard Tommy say some pretty bad things about Nintendo in the past. Those three message board posts seem (to me) as if someone else wrote them. Maybe G4 has gotten a lot of complaints, so he's less biased now. I don't care though, I stopped watching when they fired all the TechTV people.

Well, how is he so obsessed? He obviously prefers PSP, but he is definately not telling people to buy PSP no matter what. He even says the dude should buy a DS if he doesn't like Sony.
I mean, I completely fail to see the point of this argument or topic. Normally Tommy is being stupid and would warrant a topic but this time he is acting perfectly un-fanboy-like and I don't really see what you're trying to prove.

I don't know why people are so obsessed with this guy and what he thinks. He's just an average musician who works in the industry and got a show on a crappy tv station... He's obviously just playing politician in all of those responses. I'm sorry I even read them.

No, he's always talking about it! These are just recent examples, and I could give you more examples, but I don't feel like taking such time just to prove this.
Because I'm not "obsessed with this guy and what he thinks".

Tommy Tallarico is such a joke. Making excuses for him is like making excuses for Stalin.
The right amount of attention to pay him is none.

Oh God, that creature still exists? I remember back in the day when he couldnt even name "Kirby's Air Ride." This is the same guy who constantly rates games low based on the fact that they're too "tiku tiku tiku! " for him.

One of the biggest examples of Nintendo hating Mainstream gaming there is in this world. If im not mistaken he gave RE4 a 7/10 and has long bashed the DS and the Gamecube... Lets just say im not a fan... tend to prefer Xplay anyways

Here's my take on Tommy. He often seems like a pretty cool guy. And he's passionate about videogames. And "famous". I actually want to like him.
However, he very frequently reveals himself to be a total and utter jerk, with bad taste in videogames to boot. And it seems that when you confront him with anything, he degenerates into a mind-bogglingly immature state, at which point he says and does things that clearly do not help his situation.
In recent years, he has set himself at odds against virtually anyone and everyone who likes Nintendo products. Whether they even know who he is or not. He's been trying to get out of that position (apparently even adopting Seinfeld's "not that there's anything wrong with that" catchphrase), but he's really failing. He just keeps digging himself deeper and deeper into his own position.
His response to the "DS vs GBE" part of #3 was completely sensible. It's quite amazing. Tommy Tallarico beats Matt from IGN Cube! Who'd have thunk it. That's the most maturity I've seen from Tommy in a long time, and it fills my heart with optimism.
However a few posts down, you'll notice a post from a "Tommy Gun". AKA: Some random loser on the internet who kisses Tommy's ass and swears loyaty to him, and is rewarded with recognition and the authority to become one of Tommy's official "enforcers". Odds are, some ass-kissing Tommy Gun or another has already "explained" this thread to Tommy. Realistically, Tommy lives in his own little world, and will never be "normal".

I think this is the same guy who said, as a downside of the DK Bongos, that they're "useless for games like Mario Kart"
But I'm not sure if I could believe what I was hearing.

I want to drive a ferrari
Title: RE: Is anyone familiar with Tommy Tallarico?

Well a Ferrari looks cool but it would only be good as a second car. They aren't very practical, and I can't think of many situations where I'd even come close to using it's full power. I mean, those bothersome speed limits....
I'm perfectly content with my 2005 Honda Accord Coupe V6. It's fully loaded, has enough room for me and a friend or two, sufficient trunk space, a perfect interior, has great handling, and is more powerful than any car in it's class (240 hp, 250 with premium fuel, 0-60 time of 5.9 secs is faster than Porsche Boxster, BMW 330, basically everything up to an M3). I mean, a Ferrari's fast and looks good, and gets the ladies.... But what if you already have a lady? And dare I say it, need to take home some groceries or something? I'd rather spend $32,000 on an Accord Coupe V6 that looks good enough, drives fast enough, and is far more luxurious and comfortable on the inside than any Ferrari, then spend over $200,000 on a cop-magnet that I'll never get to drive like it was meant to be driven.
On the other hand, if anyone would like to donate a Ferrari, I'll grudgingly accept.

Pff, your acccord is cool and all but it still must be nice shiny and new for you to not desire a ferrari. =P Anyway, to change the subject slightly, I got to see my first real lambo at the Buffalo Auto Show. It was 'freaking sweet'. They didn't have my new eclipse though... =P
Wait, weren't we talking about Tommy Jackass Taliwhatever?

Funny fact: Tallarico hated Super Smash Bros. and SSB:Melee. He craps on alot of great games made or not made by Nintendo. He gave Sid Meir's Pirates a 5.5 for god sakes. And he also gave OutRun 2 a 4.5 . And the big one he droped a 5.0 on Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door which is ubsurd. IGN's reviews look intellegent when you compare them to Tallarico's reviews.

As has already been said, he is generating his persona around what he thinks will sell, and he probably isn't that far off base.

The only game Tommy really explained what the game was about and story and everything was Leisure Suit Larry:MCL which is sad. He gave that janky game a 8.5 while Vic gave it a 3.5 . Im just glad that Vic is on the show since he is more of the voice of reason on that show and he mostly scores the games in a good fair manner with little or no bias. Other than Vic that show is garbage.

You know, IGN's reviews aren't really bad. As long as you just stick to the text it's definately above average compared to other sites. It's nonsensical scores which hurt IGN... Mostly from the PS2 and Xbox sites mind you. The PC and GCN sites at least try to limit scores.

Perfer Vic over Tommy's reviews myself--same taste. Tommy really hates RPGs--especially turned based ones and he wouldn't give to sh!ts who made the game because he's going bash it for being a turn based game in an era where it shouldn't be.
