Yeah, we don't know what it is either.

Ubisoft Signs Trollz Videogame License; Brings DIC Entertainment's Hot New Property to ''Tween'' Gamers

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 8, 2005--Today, Ubisoft, one of the world's largest videogame publishers, announced that it has signed a licensing agreement with DIC Entertainment, a leading children's entertainment company, to create videogames based on the new Trollz. The new Trollz are a stylish group of teen friends that grow up in a spectacular world of gnomes, ogres, dragons and magic. The exclusive, worldwide agreement includes interactive games based on the tween entertainment and lifestyle property for all existing game formats.

In Fall 2005, DIC and partners will simultaneously roll out the unique Trollz merchandise and entertainment program that merges fashion, magic and high-tech communication. The videogames, which target the 6 to 12-year-old girl demographic, will incorporate all three elements. The fantasy universe of the Trollz will come to life and showcase the different magical talents, styles and personalities of the characters, as well as the friendship which binds them together. An initial game for handheld consoles is planned for late this year, with other formats to follow. Additionally, DIC will launch an online Web community in April 2005.

With this licensing win, Ubisoft joins the list of companies such as Scholastic (publishing), Hasbro (toys), Warner Bros. (home entertainment) and One World Interactive (mobile) in investing in the revamped brand's 2005 U.S. launch. The Trollz' international debut is scheduled for 2006.

"The Trollz are back with a hair-style vengeance," said Laurent Detoc, president of Ubisoft North America. "We are excited to be able to bring these characters to life and allow girls to interact with them in a videogame."

"We are delighted to be working with Ubisoft as our videogame partner for Trollz," stated Nancy Fowler, senior vice president of Worldwide Consumer Products at DIC. "Our licensing program is now complete and well-rounded to offer tween girls everything they want in terms of fashionable and interactive merchandise capturing the essence of the Trollz brand. We're thrilled to make this announcement."

It seems like an X-treme version of the pot-bellied, wild-haired creatures my sister and I played with when we were little kids.

duh-duh-duh-duh-duh I'm a troll-man.

I think Kingvudu is right.   100 points for Kingvudu!
Why do only girls get to interact with the Trollz?  Now I can't play this game without hanging my head in shame!

Dear lord... it appears they've cross bread Trolls with Bratz dolls... man creativity in toys really is dead. I hope whoever convinced Activision that this was a hot property got a major promotion, cause that's one hell of a hustle.

The resurrection of the 80's continues. What's next the souless music that pluged that decade... Too late.

But on a serious side it seems the last almost decade and a half we been stuck in some generational groundhog day. First it was the fasionation with the 70's in the 90's, and now its the 80's.

PS- I accually like music from the 80's but a lot of it is really depressing.

Let's not forget that Family Guy episode where the Griffins get super powers and Peter turns in to a troll doll.
On a side note: troll doll hair is nappy.

Trolls had pencils shoved up their arses. That'd make for a good game.

A game about trolls? I wonder if they have the GNAA license. And who are you playing, the trolls or the moderators? Oh, this isn't Slashdot: The Game?
