Title: Official Signature Discussion
Post by: Bloodworth on February 06, 2005, 10:09:30 AM
Here's where you can attract attention to your sig (which my brain usually ignores automatically), and say why you have it.  I'd thought we had a thread like this before, but couldn't find it.

Mine is from a Nintendo Power interview with David Doak at Free Radical, previewing TimeSplitters Future Perfect.  I haven't played the others, but I may check this one out.  In any case, I think it's a great quote, and it makes me a little more interested in Free Radical's work.

Mine's to warn Revolution-info-seeking gamers not to believe everything they see on the interweb...

Ah... ha... ha...

Anyway... my sig is of yet-to-be announced DS games, which I got a wee bit excited when I heard of them... so I just wanted to share the joy.

Mine is from Command and Conquer : Tiberian Sun, an underrated above-average Computer RTS.  Whenever I see Nintendo or another game company try something new and controversial, I always think of this quote by the bad guy, Kane.  While everybody else lines up to call something gimmicky, I ponder the possibility of the "gimmick" to become the next big thing.  It may.  It may not.  But that is still no reason to dismiss it outright.

Mine is a mantra said to envelope in meaning the entirety of the Tibetan-Buddhist sutras (presumably Gelug), which reportedly take several lifetimes to learn. Pretty nifty eh? Phonetically I believe it should be pronounced "om mahni pehme hung". It requres no initiation from a lama, so it is okay for anyone to use.

In Tibetan Buddhism prayer wheels can be spun instead of saying prayers, so by saving this somewhere on my computer I have created the ultimate prayer wheel, spinning several thousand times a minute. The purity of my good karma should be superlative by now. I saw it on a website and thought it was a pretty good trick, so I put it there just to show my interest and respect for the religion.

Mine reminds me of that freaking mod I should be working on right now (and would release a new version of if I knew how to check whether player.SetModel() defaulted). Goes with my avatar which is a screenshot (obviously cropped) from the mod.

My sig is a quote from some quickly banned poster on this site whose inane babbling provided us with some laughs for a few seconds.  I think he was talking about connectivity.
Title: RE: Official Signature Discussion
Post by: vudu on February 07, 2005, 08:09:50 AM
Ian, he was talking about how much it cost to play Crystal Chronicles.  The "base thing" he was referring to is the GBA Player.

Mine's a quote from some dumbass who was talking about how great the PSP is.

Mine usually are my attempt to be strange.  In fact I don't even know what mine is right now, but I will know after I post this reply, imagine that.

I change mine depending on my mood, when I feel depressed I make them even stranger.

Mine comes from my friend Dylan who, when ever he walks in to a conversation, or is confused by one, includes himself by saying, "Suck my. . ." and then adds in the topic of conversation.  He'll say things like, "Suck my chair!" or, "Suck my birthday!" He has other catch phrases but they're mostly just sounds and jestures.

Let's see.  HC stands for Hostile Creation, o'course.  Honorary Aussie is back when the Aussie Thread was around and open to the public.  All the aussies said that non-aussies that posted in the thread were considered Honorary Aussies, so I've had that in there since then.  I think Ms. Pikmin was the only other one to do that, but I'm not sure.
The other one is a months-old quote from evil intentions, I think from the newbie thread.

All in all, it's an antiquated sig.  Everything may or may not apply, but I think I'll leave that to memory now.  I'll probably change my signature soon and reply back to this thread with the UPDATERED sig (with mp3 player and movie playback, of course).

Mine is a metaphor for the current state of Nintendo and representive of all those who have lived after opposing the great Reginald Fils Aime.

Actually, the reason there's nothing there is to make my posts look even more empty, and to save my scrollbar.

5 cents a day, goes a long way

My signature is an advertisement for the new GARBAGE album coming in APRIL and the new GARBAGE single coming in FEBRUARY on radio and in MARCH on mtv and in stores.  I've been listening to the radio for the past 2 days to hear the new single, and all I've heard by GARBAGE are a song from their first album, and one from their second album.

Anyway, GARBAGE.COM has info on the new album, tour dates, discography, and (almost) all their videos.  And my avatar is, of course, SHIRLEY MANSON, but that pic's from '95 or '96.

Yeah Yeah..........................GARBAGE IS GARBAGE

No in reality i like GARBAGE to an extent.

Mine is essentially there because i wanted something there....and i had falco as my avatar.......and i had just watched the futurama with slurms mackenzie in it....otherwise known as the "original party worm".......so i figure falco is a falcon so why not change worm to flacon........but then i thought no i better chnage it to FALCON.....

Waste of space and it kills 56k...

I think that depends on the rules.

If we were allowed sig pics, restricted to something like 50 pixels high, and [whatever doesn't break the tables, I'd guess roughly 450-500 pixels?] wide, and had both the sig pic and the avatar pic together have a combined limit of 20KB (or maybe bump it up to 25KB or something), and make it so using a sig pic means that you void your right to put plain text or any extra spaces in your signature, I think that it wouldn't really have more of an adverse effect on 56k-ers than having avatars does.

It might get the average signature size to shrink a little (some people's text sigs can get a little big, although I don't really think it's a problem right now), and it might even have a side effect of increasing people's awareness of when the tables break in the text area. Plus of course, it would brighten things up in here.

Anyways, my current siganture...

Hey Noble, about your sig...

Have you tried searching the girl's name with Google? The first result on the list will tell you what you need to know. Perhaps more than you wanted to know.

BTW, your manhood may suddenly reappear, so... just don't perform that search if you're worried about any unwanted attention.

My old one had the text "I have an image in my sig", which I did at the time. I was never picked up on it though. After a thread was made in the funhouse about that guy who had the "Big" image sig, I thought I was bored of it and changed my theme to imagery. It's an example of imagery from Edgar Allan Poe.

It's funny reading the older posts on this thread because often the sig description no longer applies.  Someone says "mine's this" and then you look down and think "no it's not".

I actually changed mine for the first time in well over a year.  It's now a link to a film my friends and I made and uploaded to YouTube.

Requiem, I think your signature does express what I think about the worldcup but I don't think it's what you intended to say: Not too long ago there were the betting scandals of the federal league in Germany where organized crime groups bribed players, referees, etc in order to get a specific outcome to certain matches and make big money with betting on that outcome. During the worldcup there were several bad decisions from players, trainers and referees causing several of the favourites to lose a game early (with many people probably betting on the favourites and better quotas on the teams that appeared less likely to win). I don't think it's too far-fetched to think there is a connection.

My quote comes from this guy on Youtube who was giving all the reasons why PSP was better than DS, and every time he said some complete B.S., he'd say, "It's a fact, look it up", as if that made his comments true.  I'm still not sure if his rant was meant to be sarcastic and funny or totally serious, but I like how I can post anything and pretend that my sig makes it true, just like he did.

He sees what The Industry cannot.  He is not our leader, but the one ensures our path is WELL LIT.  March on, my brother.

I am bored with these non-games.  Time to eat my non-cheeseburger.

OMG! You're RIGHT! I knew it sounded familiar but how could I miss that?!?!?!?

Because it's not really Malstrom.  Just a clever trap by association.

Seeing that you don't play first-party Nintendo games, you'd easily miss it.
