Title: Startup sound

Hi. My friend showed me a trick with the gamecube's sound when it starts. Didn't exactly get what he did but he made the sound completely different. Anyone know how he did this? He wasn't doing anything with the controller but something with the gamecube itself.

It was with the controller...
Hold Z for one sound or Hold Z on 4 controllers to hear another
