Pokémon® Cleans up Australian Console Charts – Again!

Melbourne, Australia, 1st October 2004 – After six years of phenomenal results Pokémon games clean up on the Australia Console charts yet again.

Pokémon® FireRed and Pokémon® LeafGreen for Game Boy Advance™ take out #1 and #2 positions respectively just four days after launching on Thursday 23rd September, 2004.

“Pokémon just continues like a steamtrain in this market, even after six years”, says Rose Lappin, Director of Sales and Marketing, Nintendo Australia. “Looking at this weeks Game Boy Advance Software chart not only do we have the number one and number two spots, Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire that we launched 18 months ago are in the number three and number four spots respectively!.”

The great news for Nintendo and Game Boy doesn’t stop there. The recent price drop of the Game Boy Advance™ SP to SRP$149.95 has resulted in the sell thru of almost 15,000 units in just 11days of retail sales.

“Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen have sold extremely well for us, as have all Pokémon titles in the past”, says Steve Wilson, Managing Director, Electronics Boutique Australia and New Zealand. “We expect the sales momentum on these new titles to continue strongly to beyond Christmas, especially with the recent re-pricing of the Game Boy Advance SP”.

Why are there separate announcements for Pokemon's success in different regions of the world?  Everybody knows Pokemon does well everywhere...

Yet another weak attempt to fool us into thinking that NAL are doing work.
This must be, what, their third press release this year? Phuck I'm glad I don't work at NAL, I couldn't handle their 4 hours work week.

Just yesterday I saw a kid buy both Fire Red and Leaf Green. I think they're weird, why would you want to have both? That bit of trading can be done with your friends if you're that desperate.

Maybe he was buying a copy for someone else, a brother, a friend? Doesn't seem very strange to me.
