Title: Nintendo DS Commercial
Post by: TheYoungerPlumber on September 24, 2004, 03:50:57 PM
Nintendo’s new commercial finally shows off the new L and R buttons, as well as the stylus’s home.  Screen captures included.

Two days ago Nintendo of Japan launched its promotional Nintendo DS website with the first Nintendo DS commercial.  Today, Nintendo posted a second commercial which provides our first good look at the back of the redesigned Nintendo DS

Sexy trigger buttons

Although we already know that Nintendo ditched its ugly red E3 trigger buttons, the commercial demonstrates just how comfortable the buttons are.  They appear to be a compromise between the original GBA’s broader paddle and the SP’s stubbier but uniform design.

Home in the Valley

The commercial also gives us a glimpse at the stylus’s holding place: a hole near the R button.  The pen is inserted perpendicularly to the system.

The bottom of the Nintendo DS also appears to curve outward at the system's edges, which should make the DS more ergonomic.

I like how the screen is black and turned off while she's playing with it.

Besides that, I can see it appealing to the japanese public.

The ads may be sad to you guys...but it's a Japanese commercial? That is exactly the type of ad Japan loves.

It works for me!  I was kind of worried about the triggers, but they look very comfortable...Another thing to knock off that list...

Stuff like that just doesn't show up too well under film lights.  I wouldn't try to guess whether that thing is on or not.

Yes, but it's an incomplete demo.

LOL i thought that pr0n was basically played in single player by consumers >_<

The commercial was good, and by japanese standards I have to say it was great, they have a thing for women acting like little girls (which is really disturbing), so its not rare to find a 30 year old woman hugging a teddy bear too look sexy... I know, japanese people are sometimes creepy O_o!

"omoshiroiyo"

indeed ^_^

The song is "Easy Breezy" by Utada (the girl in the ad). That's her newest single... glad Nintendo has her under their belt because she's super popular.

lol thats the worst commercial ever.  Even if they released that stateside with a white girl and speaking english it would still suck.  No wonder nintendo is behind PS2.. they need to fire thier marketing manager

Thats right, you have to consider that japan has a completly different culture from ours.  That is why the Xbox does so horribly in Japan compared to the U.S. What Americans find stupid, the japanese might find really neat, and vice-versa (spelling?).

Right now I just wanna see some commercials show up here in America, so we dont have to talk about some japanese commercial that we find stupid (by our standards), and can't understand a word of it.

Getting Utada in the commercial is huge!  In japan she is a HUGE MUSIC STAR.  I'm really surprised that Nintendo was able to get her, especially since Sony could've easily worked out a deal through Sony Music Corp (or whatever it is called).

As for the commericial itself, ugh!  Us non japanese ppl just don't understand the culture.  Besides things like this i still don't know why David Hasselhoff and other crappy musicians are big in Japan.

Hey, Sonata Arctica is big in Japan, too, so it's not only crappy artists that are more popular there!
