Title: No DS games for launch?!?
Post by: Xavya on September 11, 2004, 10:57:11 AM
Recently I was at an EB Games at a mall in pittsburgh and I was talking to the manager their about things like how most people are PS2 fanboys and how many reserves Halo 2 was getting and then i asked him about the DS. He said he had a good number of reserves for it but he said their would be no DS game out for launch?! He said it would only play GBA games and the DS games would come in Jan. or Feb. Now this is ridiculous, I would never believe but its coming from a EB Games manager. And i know nintendo has made an announcment about launch titles but i simply cannot believe this... anyone know anything?

Um... no, the manager is ignorant.  Consider most managers ignorant.  If a game's not in their system, they know nothing about it, and since Nintendo hasn't announced the launch line-up yet, well there's nothing for their computers to spoon feed them.

and kurst, no chain has consistently better info.  It all depends on who works at each particular store.

Actually gamestop is the better of the two stores.  However I only buy used games from EB unless they're much cheaper at gamestop.  DS will have launch games, but no one knows what they are and when they'll get here so take everything you see on anysite other than nintendo.com as speculation.

EB sucks. They're unreliable, and rude. Just stick with Gamestop, and all those other companies that are tied in with them.

heh, like when they told me the only gamecube games that would be out between launch and christmas were luigi and wave race.  Those store clerks, they're so clever.  Word of advice, if you are looking for reliable info, never ask someone who is selling something.

NEWSFLASH!  Nintendo is planning on releasing a game system with NO GAMES!  TEH INNOVATIVEZ!  Ha ha, this guy just didn't know what he was talking about.
I agree with Bloodworth.  Some of the EBGames' around here have very intelligent employees that know their stuff, and others have morons.*
The only people who really know what's coming for DS at launch are the ones working at Nintendo.  Until an official release list appears on Nintendo.com or in some press release, everybody is speculating.

* For that matter, if you asked me when Devil May Cry 3 was coming out or if Halo 3 had been announced, I'd probably look like a moron too....but it's not my job to sell videogames for all three consoles and the PC.

Its really just the people who work there and not the store.  You need to find a story where they do care about the games.  People who are just like the gamers and don't talk because its the bu$ine$$ thing to do.  The stores I go to the people are really awesome.  They like talking about games, they don't stand there just selling stuff because they'll play games at work too (which makes me feel ok), and some of them let my try out the games even if it isn't on the kiosk just to make sure I'll be into it.

Lets say there aren't DS games at launch.  For me I'd go with that.  I don't have a GBA and I really could go for some of their newer games coming out.
