GRRR IT WAS DELAYED 2 WEEKS! ;___;
Yes, I am very much awaiting this title...Mainly because I'm a Zelda whore... ^_^
The kinstone idea sounds really intriguing, and I hope it's been implemented cleverly within the game, but I trust Flagship since they did the Oracles games... I also hope to see plenty of cameos and perhaps a little backstory(that is, if the game is a direct sequel to Wind Waker like I assume)

Yeah, I can't wait! I missed out on the Oracles games, I may try to pick them up, but I don't know if I'll find time to play them! I'll definitely grab this one though.

this game looks awsome! i have a question for you guys though, in my nintendo power, an article highlighting the new GBA Wireless adapter stated that LoZ:TMC was on it's compatible games list. what kind of connectivity will be involved. and will i be able to use these features if i choose to play LoZ:TMC on my NDS?

It'll probably be that "trading kinstones" stuff, not much more.

I believe that you are right KDR, I remember reading something about that, but I don't know if it was in Nintendo Power or somewhere else.

If it's wireless, doncha think Four Swords is somehow going to be involved? I'm thinking it's going to become the Mario Bros of Zelda games, included in each one on GBA and future handhelds. I hope so cause I really love Four Swords. Just played GCN version last night. HAWT STUPH.
Title: RE:The Legend of Zelda The Minish Cap
Post by: kennyb27 on September 19, 2004, 05:35:40 PM
I think Four Swords may be a bit harder to include in a game than Mario Bros. is.
Title: RE: The Legend of Zelda The Minish Cap
Post by: Mario on September 19, 2004, 11:02:11 PM
I'd buy it if it had Four Swords and I could play using LTTP as my other cartridge.
Title: RE: The Legend of Zelda The Minish Cap
Post by: Ian Sane on September 20, 2004, 07:24:16 AM
I would like them to include Four Swords simply because those of us who already had the SNES version of LttP who didn't feel like buying it again for the GBA haven't had a chance to play it. Plus it's easier for me to convince my friends to buy copies of a brand new Zelda game then one we've all played a million times already. I agree with Mario though in that if they do that it should play with LttP since that makes it easier to get four people together.

"I would like them to include Four Swords simply because those of us who already had the SNES version of LttP who didn't feel like buying it again for the GBA haven't had a chance to play it."
Well, then I say "No" just to screw over those who didn't buy it...

"Well, then I say 'No' just to screw over those who didn't buy it..."
I did buy it... tens year ago or so.
It seems perfectly reasonable for them to do this since they had Mario Bros included with Mario & Luigi, which allowed people to get that multiplayer game with a non-port.

heh, I'm intrested in minish cap, I'm a Bigger Zelda whore than Bill is, and you can qoute me on that.
I wonder what the Zelda DS will look like? if it's anything like four swords on GC I'm sold. The 2D sprites we're damn sexy. I'd like to see more of that, and with DS being wireless, it would be easier to get multiplayer going on.

Anybody check out the new screens on PGC? They look VERY nice. I want this game more than ever now. My personal nit-pick: I hope the King doesn't become a permanent character in the Zelda series. I thought he was a neat addition to the Wind Waker, but it just seems more..."traditional" for him to be a faceless character lurking in the background. But that seriously shouldn't hurt the game.

I just got this game in the mail today, and it rocks. This is easily the best controlling gameboy zelda ever. This game has more in common with wind waker than it does the past few games. I don't want to give the story line away, but I will tell you that its my favorite one yet. Minish Cap's rendition of hyrule is vibrant and colorful and pretty. Just gorgeous. I just did meet the minish people a minute ago and they are super cool. When you first meet them they say hello. While it isn't that big a deal to most people its a huge deal to someone that didn't think they'd hear voice work of any kind in a gba zelda game. Ill write back with more stuff as I get further along.

All you Europeans think it's so great you get the game first. Well look at this. Sure you get it first but it's possible that we North Americans get more content so I'll gladly wait. It's not like there's nothing to play right now anyway.
Of course there might be nothing more to the American version and it's just a trick to stop importers.

Besides, the PAL release is in one week, not now.

I saw a bunch of artwork for this game on a Zelda fan site yesterday, it was beautiful! Something about art makes me want games. Maybe I should draw when I see cool artwork instead of whipping money out of my wallet and throwing it at Nintendo.

I actually already have the game and I must say I'm extremly impressed. I was concerned with Capcom developing it, but they did an outstanding job, albeit it seems a little to childish in the design.
Title: RE: The Legend of Zelda The Minish Cap
Post by: Bill Aurion on November 10, 2004, 06:57:01 PM
Just how Zelda has always been? =P
(It's not Capcom, Ninty/Capcom-supported Flagship made the game...And if you'd played the Oracle games you'd realize that they worked on those too...)
Title: RE: The Legend of Zelda The Minish Cap
Post by: Ian Sane on November 10, 2004, 08:54:31 PM
The Oracle games had some really childish designs too like a friendly dodongo and a kangaroo with boxing gloves. Those things turned me off initially but the games turned out to be really fun anyway. And considering that EAD hasn't gone with that level of design (sure Wind Waker is a cartoon but it doesn't have a really childish look) I'm not worried. I just see Flagship's games as an interesting interpretation of Zelda from another developer's point of view.
Title: RE: The Legend of Zelda The Minish Cap
Post by: MaleficentOgre on November 11, 2004, 06:21:43 PM
This game blows the oracle games out of the water. comparing this to those is like comparing the GBA doom to doom III. its that different. I just finished it and wow, best ending in a zelda game since wind waker. Damn, I forgot how good the ending in all these games are. Still, its better than Halo 2's ending.
Title: RE: The Legend of Zelda The Minish Cap
Post by: KDR_11k on November 11, 2004, 09:26:20 PM
"Oh Daisy !! Daisy !! Thank you Mario !!" is a better ending than Halo 2's so that's not a measure.

"An over-the-top score? I think not – we are talking about the best GBA game on the market so far. We are looking at what can easily be classed as ranking Top 3 out of the whole Zelda series."
Top 3 Zelda game EVER. That's some really high praise though I could see anti-3D types thinking that. Still even ignoring the 3D games that's pretty sweet. And best GBA ever isn't too shabby either (though the competition isn't quite as fierce in that category).

Maybe the new additions in the US version will reduce the number of times you get stuck?
Title: RE: The Legend of Zelda The Minish Cap
Post by: Bill Aurion on December 06, 2004, 05:31:31 AM
And I feel it my duty to totally destroy the review
"Lots of treasures to collect" and "Short-lived" seem contradictory...I'd like some clarification...
"Enemies are generally too easy to beat"
Like in every Zelda game?
You will get stuck too often
A Zelda vet NEVER gets stuck...
And those pros heavily outweigh the cons, so I think the end score was a little too strict...

Oh I just got this. Haven't played it yet.
But I'm here commenting on Link's Awakening. It is definitley the best 2D handheld Zelda , which I am confident in saying even if I haven't played Minish Cap. It's quite possibly the best Zelda game ever, but it's teetering with OoT (srrylttp). Also, CHEN, I get stuck in Eagle's Tower every time I play through the game. Obviously it's not a permenant dilema, but I usually have to spend a long time on the orbs/pillars.

I'm currently attempting to purchase the game via online. I'll have it by next weekend, if not sooner.
As for Link's Awakening, it's probably my favorite ever, too (though Wind Waker is damn close). I'm not sure of Minish Cap, I'll see. And I also get stuck in Eagle's Tower every time. Huh.

Wow. I am completely blown away by how AWESOME this game is. The dungeons are top-notch Kinstones are freaking awesome, although it's kind of weird when one kinstone leads you to another. Kinda feel ripped off =\ The figurines are, thank god, easier to aquire than in WW. And I was seriously jumping for joy when I saw the secret seashells ='D
I think the only thing keeping this game from surpassing LA is the amount of dungeons (hay Bill, notice I didn't say "length" ). LA had 8 of 'em, which is the perfect amount. Not too much, not too little.
Title: RE: The Legend of Zelda The Minish Cap
Post by: Bill Aurion on January 30, 2005, 06:30:48 PM
Well to be fair, the dungeons in Minish Cap are longer than those in Link's Awakening...
(Oh, and KN, your green kinstones are random kinstones that lead you to more valuable blue and red kinstones...Red and blue kinstones lead you to more important things like heart pieces)

Alright, I'm definitely getting this game next weekend. Not in the sense that I'm determined to, but in the sense that I already ordered it and it'll be at home when I visit for my Mardi Gras vacation. I'm definitely looking forward to this. Secret Seashells?!
My anticipation meter is off the scales.

I spent all of Saturday playing this game, it's absolutely incredible. I'm at the final boss, after two days, but I probably played about ten or so hours straight Saturday, so that'd be why
The figurines are easier to acquire, but there are a lot more, too. So the time it's taking me is almost the same (with Wind Waker being a bit harder, obviously). I will get them all, though.
I have more kinstone pieces than I know what to do with, though. I have a feeling that I'm going to go for 100% completion in this, or at least something very close.

Post by: KnowsNothing on March 08, 2005, 03:51:20 PM
Auughh, collecting the figurines is just as bad in this game ;__; In Wind Waker it was annoying because the world was so huge, you could only hold three picture at a time, and it took a while for the figures to be made. But in the Minish Cap it's too easy! So I've got 100000000 shells, now I have to stand there and pull the lever for all eternity. I don't have the patience to keep going until it takes alot of shells to get one figurine >=o BORING ALERT
The methods for getting the figures in WW and MC should have been switched. Pictures would have worked well in MC's smaller world.

I'm one patient mofo when it comes to video games. When I ran out, having been careless at first, I caught chickens until I had enough rupees to buy enough seashells, and then I put in 30-50 shells each time (with about twenty left). If I didn't get it, I reset the game and went back. Probably took me two-ish hours. But I did it!
