Gotta love the third party support Nintendo has. More recent games such as sleeping dogs, Hitman Absolution, and Hitman are glossed over while the Wii U gets a game that's going on two years old.
Not sure if the Wii U not getting a port of more recent Edios games or Bad or the Wii U isn't apparently getting Murdered Soul Suspect or Thief 4. (Thief kind of makes sense as it doesn't have a 360/PS3 version)

But really who is this aimed at. You can pick p the game for $15 on Xbox Live right now. At least go to forty dollars to entice buyers instead.

I'm glad something else is coming but everyone joked that this game being squares game would be a worst case scenario. Well, here we are...

I'm not paying $50 for something that's so cheap elsewhere.

I'm not getting this unless they fixed the severe XP balance problem with the original version, where nonlethal melee takedowns were really the only viable option if you wanted to level your character (rendering 90% of your arsenal completely useless).  There were other issues w/ Deux Ex HR, but that was the big one w/ me.  I'll be curious to see if this sells at all on Wii U, considering how fantastically late to the party it is.

Wait, you may be getting this?! Maybe I need to reasses the situation here. If its worth the time of Broodwars then there must be some value. Not joking either.

What's interesting is that this was kept secret for so long - and we only found out about it because Amazon leaked it about a month and a half before release...  I wonder if there are any other secrets out there. :D

Deus Ex HR was a pretty decent game a few years ago. I just found the stealth increasingly tiresome, as well as the way the game mathematically makes nonlethal melee takedowns worth like 2x the XP of everything else (thus rendering that the only viable option, meaning a LOT of reloaded saves).  If you've never played it before, it's certainly worth your time.  Just beware that this IS a stealth game (with all the save reloading that entails), as Jensen is particularly bad in open combat.

One of these days, I'm actually going to get around to playing that story DLC I purchased for the game.

Considering how much gamer cred the original game has, it's astonishing how douchebaggy the covers of the Deus Ex games are.  Who do they think bought the original game in the first place?

Anyway, the game is almost two years old and just seems like a completely random choice for a port.  Was there some feature that seems easy to move to the Gamepad or what?  Was this Square Enix's newest title when they first got Wii U dev kits and they've just taken a long time to get something ready?

The Dreamcast got a fair bit of Playstation ports back in the day but they were usually pretty current titles.  It wasn't like they were getting ports of Battle Arena Toshinden.  Within a year of the initial release is acceptable but anything beyond that seems like it's set up to fail unless it is offered as a low price or is bundled as part of some collection.

I wonder if third parties are just throwing out a very weak token effort in the off chance that the Wii U does well so that they have some foot in the door.  But I see nothing that suggests that they think the Wii U is going to go anywhere and they certainly aren't doing anything to help it succeed.  It is not encouraging at all.  It is entirely up to Nintendo to make this system matter and with the longer dev time for games these days I don't see how any company can do that without third parties to fill in the gaps.

I can get HR, all the expansions, the original Deus Ex, and the crappy sequel for under the price of the game on WiiU.

I'm not going to pay day one prices for a year old game.

In Nintendo's position, I would have radically increased the size and numbers of my studios, on the theory that I would largely be supporting at least one, possibly two, platforms single-handedly. Nintendo does seem to be increasing its headcount, but I don't think it's at a rate that would let it keep up with production from last generation, let alone enough to go solo.

Let me quote my Twitter:
Quote
@nron10 @jonnymetts @Nintendo_NWR $20 Regular on Steam. $30 all the DLC maybe. $40 All the DLC and ALL the Deus Ex Probably. Never Played
$50....
Well no sale.  Probably ever because it will be forgotten.

This should have been a launch title if Square Enix going to bother at all. I suppose the drought will help the game. I heard good things about Human Revolution, but if I was interested, I would have played it already.

If it's a good port, along the lines of what Criterion did for Need For Speed, and fixes the issues with the original game, I'd be willing to pay the $60.

What Square should have done was made this game a eShop exclusive and then charged $20.00 for it. Releasing it at retail this late in the game will only demolish the sales potential of this two year old title. Putting it only on the eShop the people who now about the game would buy just to have something on their Wii U.

The people who already "now" about the game probably already own it, and they're not going to buy it "just to have something on their Wii U." It's a 2 year old game that was good but honestly didn't live up to the hype when it released. Square-Enix is insane if they think this thing's going to sell, especially if they don't make any content adjustments beyond including DLC.  Hell, I'll bet Resident Evil Revelaitons (when it releases later that same month) easily sells at least double Deus Ex HR's sales on Wii U (granted, that's not saying much when DE:HR sells 3,000 units and RE:R sells 6,000 but whatever).

I am glad this game is coming out. It is one of my favorite games this generation and I wouldn't mind playing it again with some extra content on Wii U, hell, I would buy the game just for the masterful soundtrack.

So it looks like it's being ported by the same company who ported Mass Effect 3 to the Wii U.  Didn't they say they were working on something else for the Wii U?

Yes, in September 2012 they said in a interview with Eurogamer:

"We've made a number of bets on the Wii U, so we're certainly hoping that the platform comes strongly out of the gate. We've got two other titles in development. One of them is original, our own IP, and another is based on another big franchise that will come out in 2013. It's a big title and you will have heard of it"

Guess we found out the title we already have heard about.  Hopefully, their original IP will be good.  They do a decent job of porting.  Hopefully, they can do just as good of work on their own title.

What I like the most is that they are tying the dlc to the official story, which is cool cause in ps3 and 360 is a separate experience.

First off—and perhaps, most importantly—Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Director’s Cut will support off-TV play using the Wii U GamePad.

Eidos Montreal also touched upon gameplay improvements. Boss fights in the game have been completely redesigned with new map layouts to support stealth, hacking and combat. Boss health and AI have been tweaked, too, and you’ll now be able to defeat the game’s bosses without firing a single bullet. Regular enemies in the game have better AI now, too. Once you complete the game, you’ll be able to start over in a New Game+ mode with all your abilities intact.

Improvements have been made to the game’s visuals as well. Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Director’s Cut will have the improved lighting system, fog and smoother shadows that were included with The Missing Link DLC applied across the entire game. The game also has new anti-aliasing features.

Finally, Deus Ex: Human Revolution – The Director’s Cut will include eight hours of director’s commentary and 45-minute “Making Of” video. The game is coming “soon”.

I was down when I first heard about the port, but these details make it sound quite nice. It's still a tough sell when the other versions can be had for much cheaper.

The game is not gonna be a million plus seller, but its definitely a good game to fill the gaps until fresh content starts coming out.

Given I never got around to playing this when it came out and coupled with the list of changes I've read that have been implemented, I'm def picking this up when it releases.  It'll be good to show some support for the effort they put into this.  Hope it does well enough for Square to consider the WiiU as a potential platform for the sequal.

Here's a bulletpoint list of all the tweeks to the game from Neogaf member EmceeGramr

I know I complained about this port in the OP but i'll pick this up just for the Director's commentary since I thnk every game should have a similar mode or mechanic.

This sounds like a sweet package. I loved the first Deus Ex, tried to play Invisible Wars twice and got bored, never tried this one, so I am PRIMED.

I played I liked invisible war, although it had its hiccups. But I got to give it to that game because it introduced me to the franchise.

Honestly, I'm excited for this. I played the first one at $20, beat it once, and sold it back to GS. However, I never played the DLC and I hated the forced boss fights, so if they deliver on their promise to change up the boss fights and make the DLC seamless in the experience, this would definitely be worth the $50 they release it at.

This game is sounding better and better. I'm even more tempted to pick this up at $50. I'll tell you what, Square-Enix: Ideally, I would love to pay $30 for this, so why don't we split the difference and call it $40?

The announcer is cheesy lol but the game does look really good.  Glad I never got around to playing it on the PS3.  Will def be picking this up as one of the few third party releases on the WiiU.

Good heavens, it took me a long time to pick this game up. First I was busy with other games. Then I couldn't find it in stores. I finally picked it up on sale at Fred Meyer for $27 something.

Played the first hour or so. Impressions:
- It already feels more like the original than Invisible war.
- Good soundtrack
- Facial animations feel almost as bad as the original
- the protagonist sounds like Clint Eastwood meets Stone Cold Steve Austin
- Shooting isn't the best, but that may just be me and dual analog. Wish it had Wiimote support.
- Button use is a little odd.
- Stealth and hacking is the way to go for me.

Who else picked this up?

I grabbed it. EB Games had them for $20 in Canada a while back, and it's a game I've wanted to try for a while. Won't be playing for a bit though - in the middle of Etrian Odyssey Untold right now, and have at least one other game to play through after that.

Do look forward to playing it though!

I'm in the 'waiting for a price drop' group as well.

I liked the original so I like hearing it has similarities to it.

Deus Ex and Thief were but more fun to wander around in and explore than actually follow the plot.

Finally beat it, took me many hours, a lot to the game. My play style was 'sneaking/hacking and clear the room in a non-lethal way so I can find all the items' Of course sometimes the plan would fall apart and you have to start killing people.
