I'm not as confident in Hyrule Warriors as you are. I'm not commenting on its quality. Spin-off vs. remake? Hmm, I'd probably still give the edge to The Wind Waker HD.

Wii U will perform better in 2014 due to better software. However, when attempting to compare PS3 and Wii U, it's important to note that PS3's stronger third party support reaches a greater number of people than Nintendo's own software. There's just more variety and greater numbers. Nintendo's first party titles mainly appeal to Nintendo's own fans. It's a subset of the gaming audience versus that entire audience. PS3 wins that round pretty much every time in terms of sales potential just simply looking at how many more people are being targeted.

You can compare just about anything, but I'm not sure how valid this comparison is. The variables change the results too much to gloss over. PS3 and Wii U struggled under different circumstances and for different reasons.

What would be a better one?

Being the best comparison doesn't make it a good one. What does a comparison between two platforms with vastly different circumstances even tell you? PS3 struggling a year in is different than Wii U struggling. Just looking at sales numbers doesn't reveal anything. All it does is make Wii U's situation look better than it is because you can just say, "Oh, PS3 sold less in the same time frame and now look at it." Except nothing about their situations are really the same beyond face value. The path PS3 took to becoming successful simply cannot be replicated by Wii U due to previously stated reasons. So sure, you can compare them if you want, but why would you?

I was referring more to Japan in my post.  Yeah in the West Wind Waker HD will probably end up selling better but in Japan Wind Waker HD was a flop that that sold under 50k.  Considering the popularity of the Dynasty Warriors series over there, Hyrule Warriors should be able to easily surpass that.  Yeah it wouldn't get up to around 500k which the PS3 Dynasty Warrior games usually got around but I think somewhere between 100-200k is a pretty realistic goal which would still be better then what Wind Waker HD sold over there.

You could always compare it to the Wii, but even the Wii had vastly better 3rd party support, even if it was 80% shovelware.... and that only makes the Wii U's numbers look even worse than they are, and they are bad enough as it is.

Disagree with that.  The WII U had much better third party support, terms of quality especially, but nobody was buying any of it and that's why 3rd party was pulled from the WII U.

Most third party sales are falling below the 100K mark which makes the WII U and that number is actually shirking instead of growing?

Nintendo really wasted it's one year advantage and it's being pulled from retail space (like the vita) which is just going make things worse when you're not going be able to find much selection from your everyday Walmart store.

The stupidest thing about lacking DLC is that these types of things are mostly just assets that are universal between all versions of the game.

I'd argue that the stupidest thing about lacking DLC is that publishers do this over concerns the extra content won't sell so their solution is to sell an inferior version of the game. PERFECT!

i think Nintendo players themselves are throwing the towel too early, i know Nintendo is going through some tough times, but when have they not after the SNES. The NA market is basically runned by Microsoft, but compare Microsoft situation in Japan, it sucks, but that doesn't mean the Xbox is failing, think about that, Nintendo market its Japan not the U.S, the U.S is an important market, but not the one that will decide Nintendo's fate.

So much doom in this thread. While I understand the trepidation, I can't imagine where giving up on a 13month young console makes any sense. in terms of sales, how many units does nintendo have to sell in dec to ease the fears with the fan base. 400k? 500k 1m? (btw, 400-500k for dec is what I'm thinking)

I think Nintendo is going to "double down" on Wii U. Push the chips to the center of the table and lets see what happens. Europe is lost(so what) Japan will come around when "that" games comes out and here in the west well, we'll just have to see.

This ain't over folks not by any stretch.

MERI KURISUMASU!
New titles released last week include the third Gundam-themed Musou game and DRAG-ON DRAGOON 3. Both titles have placed in the top 10 but weren't unable to unseat the phenomenon of Puzzle & Dragons. The holiday shopping season is in effect as we see numerous positive percentages in the chart with some returning Nintendo platform games such as Mario Kart 7 and New Super Mario Bros. 2. Of note, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon nears one million units sold in Japan.

CORRECTION: Shin Gundam Musou is the fourth Dynasty Warriors Gundam game.

The sales figures for 3D World were at 220,000 units, so is this retail only, or does it include digital eShop sales combine with those of retail? A lot of people who own Wii Us are going to exclusively digital, so it stands to reason that the game might have sold more and Nintendo has not posted the actual results to the public.

Are you taking about Japan? Because they are at 327k. US sales (at this point) would likely be much higher than that...but if you are talking about numbers from Nintendo they include both types of sales.
