Nintendo release a completed game in a marked starved for completed games to release...!?
and during a time when games are likely to be bought just because they are available!?

maybe next year, or never. one of those. maybe... who knows?
Nintendo's thought process is never one of apparent sound logic, so maybe they already released it, but in such limited quantities that it will one day show up at GameStop as a limited rerelease at jacked up prices. Then *SE can complain how they game didn't do well in NA and Nintendo won't be getting the sequel.

or maybe we will get the full game with all the expansions. GOTY edition **sometime in 2015/2016 long after we put our Wii U's aside to play with our PS4's/Xbox1's & 4DS's, then *

or maybe they are porting the Wii version to the 3DS with all the expansions intact and will release it **

What is this version of Dragon Quest X? Does it include the full game plus all the added content released to date, or is it something entirely new? Is it something you install to memory and use with the other game?

I really don't like the way SE is treating DQ as a franchise, it was better, when they use to release one game every four or five years.

Yes, well when companies suddenly get desperate for money, they start using their cash cow a bit more. See Sonic the Hedgehog, Guitar Hero, and Mario for other such examples.

The latter. It's an expansion, but none of the original content is included.

Worst November for an Nintendo Home Console (WII U sub 250K sales for the month) on the other hand the best month for the 3DS.

Vita continues to disappoint--sub 100K--might as well be dead.

PS4 numbers/Xbox One would have been higher but supply was limited--which is surprising since there wasn't really that "must buy" title for the holidays for neither systems.

You have to take into account that all those game get a huge advantage from being on every platform known to man.  NPD Rolls them up.

Plus how many of us really buy Physical now? Which is Ironic when you think about it.

I don't know if Nintendo can do anything now to fix this situation.  Its as if the consumers need fixing now.  The WiiU has good software now and is a really good system (IMO), moreso than the PS4 and Xbone at the moment.  The market has really changed, the industry has official gone Hollywood and Nintendo has become IFC.

Welcome to the same argument Vita owners have been making for 2 years. Come on in! Pull up a chair! You're going to be here for a while.

It's kind of funny how the sales of the Vita never stopped japanese developers from supporting it. Here's the number of planned releases (not counting download-only stuff) for each platform in japan.

Vita 128
PS3 108
PSP 74
3DS 63
PS4 40
360 31
WiiU 16

Saying the consumers need fixing is BS to the maximum degree. Its Nintendo's job to not only build a product that will sasfity third party development, but build games that get people interested into their system.

A 2D Platformer
three party games
two games visually similar in Pikmin and W101
Half hearted versions of the wii brand of software. (im cool with it)

For all the talk of the gaming industry being blnd both Microsoft and Sony not only have their big AAA games, but also have stuff like Wonderbook and Kinectsports as well both putting more Arcady gaming software on their digital stores.

Nintendo needed to build up more software developers years ago but they're to far stuck their own buts, they don't realize their console is dead in all three major regions and the 3DS has clearly seen signs of contracting.

Consumers need fixing? Yes, blame the victim.

I'm not blaming them exclusively for the WiiU's problems but there is merit in what I'm saying.  We live in a world where the Jersey Shore, Toddler's and Tiaras, and other television "shows" of the like are yearly hits, obviously you can make an argument the consumers need fixing.  This is no different in the video game market.  The big sellers are always GTA, CoD,or any of usual big budget affairs.  Those games are good in their own right but it doesn't make them any better than what Nintendo has put out on the WiiU.  Fun is fun regardless, if the consumer can't see or appreciate the fun in Mario World, Pikmin, the Wonderful 101 then they are uninformed and/or have their own prejudices towards those games or Nintendo in general.

All Nintendo can do is make the games they know how to make, more of them, and advertise them better but I think that will only go so far.  The games they make don't seem to be appreciated by and large by this type of market.  They can advertise Mario 24/7 on every channel and I still don't see how it'll make your typical CoD player want to pick it up.  It might make someone else who is on the fence with gaming or returning to gaming but, IMO, it won't do much to make the majority of the market jump into Nintendo's camp.

This isn't the 90s anymore where gameplay trumped all as most games looked somewhat the same at that time.  The industry has been commercialized, again, gone Hollywood, its all flash now.  That's why most trailers don't even show gameplay anymore outside Nintendo's own.  I'd even go so far as to say FF7 was the earliest attempt at this.  It got millions of people to buy the game off the trailer alone to then find out the game looked nothing like it in action.  Anyways, let me get off my soup box lol, I've said enough.

I think a lot of gamers hoped that the expansion of gaming at the start of last generation would increase the userbase enough that even niche games could find a large enough fanbase to have a healthy market. But production costs increased faster than sales and the aging gaming populaces tastes got narrower.  So we ended up with the opposite effect of niche games and even once popular genres getting obliterated.

How's all that support working out for the Vita?  The Vita's also not 1080p console development, if they had to put that much work on it, it wouldn't have support.

I just think 3rd party is a better business route than hybrid.  I think the home console is salvageable if Iwata gets fired.  To have a console successful in the US, it has to do all the things home consoles do well.  Then it has to have the top 10 NPD above, not just any 3rd party games.  It has to be the right third party games.  Then those games have to have the perception that they are at least equal to the other options.  I don't see how a hybrid does that or even entices those key third parties to get on board.  We'll see what Nintendo does.  I think we'll have an idea by May if they plan on riding the Wii U out or doing something drastic.
