Next week will see North America attempt to juice Nintendo's digital numbers.

Beginning next Friday, Switch systems in North America will include a $35 eShop credit code with a system purchase. The program is being advertised for a limited time, but no end date was given.

Nintendo has offered shop credit previously with systems, such as when launch models of the DSi came with 1000 points for the DSi Shop in 2009.

Hmm... What would I recommend for $35?

Ikaruga for $15
Nintendo Online Subscription for $20.

If you can chip in $5,
Steam World Dig 2 for $20.

Well, depends.  If we're talking about the rumored smaller, more portable one, I think they'd keep both on the shelf so they can offer the OG and then a portable, cheaper alternative.

I could see it more as Nintendo trying to encourage parents and kids to get used to buying things off the eshop.  Get the potential playerbase more engaged with the digital storefront, get attention to indies, or at least buy direct from Nintendo so they don't have to give Retail a cut of the game sale.

I can see both.  The Switch inventory turnover may not be what it once was though, so clearing out some of the inventory frees up shelf space so the two consoles can sit side-by-side.  But the eShop credit, as ShyGuy pointed out, is enough for a year of the online and a free game or two.

It's a pretty interesting bundle and probably a smart move for them.

Last minute push for 20 million units.

Isn't a year on the family plan $35?

Revision is coming. Nintendo usually has a major release at the end of March. I remember Pokémon Stadium came out on my birthday. Which is odd because when I look it up the dates don't match. But Pepperidge farms remembers. Then it says Pokémon stadium 2 came out the day after my birthday. This is odd because this would not be significant to me because I didn't buy it. Though i guess it could just be stored through association.
