My favorite chicken sandwich is called the Santa Fe chicken sandwich and it has roasted poblanos and honey cream cheese.

I tried the Popeye’s chicken sandwich last night. It’s... a chicken sandwich. I tried not to get caught up in the hype. This thing made headlines by selling out everywhere and apparently someone was fatally stabbed for cutting in line the other day. It’s fine for what it is. I’d order it again even if I wouldn’t go out of my way to do so. May be a little greasy, but that’s to be expected from deep fried chicken at a fast food joint.
You know the Popeye's Chicken Sandwich stabbing, I almost feel like Popeye's is happy for the negative news.  I mean how many people are thinking, damn I need to try that sandwich if people are willing to stab someone for it.  But the truth is, there is NO WAY, that stabbing happened ONLY because two adults wanted a Chicken sandwich.  It's a CHICKEN SANDWICH, from a fast food place.  Adrock's review sounds exactly like what I would expect.

I guess you guys didn't see my post in the Funhouse the other day....

I mean it is interesting but I am not sure I would find it appatizing unless it wasn't in pizza form.  Maybe just have pizza toppings with ramen without the crust but then it would just be something standard.

Bread-on-bread dishes tend to feel off for me. Like too much of a carb overload. Most fried chicken sandwiches, fried mac-n-cheese bites and such just feel like too much for me. As BeautifulShy suggested, I would try a aamen w/ pizza toppings/flavors, or ramen ingredients minus the noodles on a type of pizza crust.

Regarding ramen pizza... I agree with others. I'd do pizza flavored ramen, but it doesn't work for me the other way around. Who wants their crust to be that soggy?

During my trips in China, pizza has always been a huge miss. The flavors and textures never felt "right" and trying to make it more appealing to locals almost always took away the things I liked most about pizza.

Even though pizza is my single favorite thing to eat, I would actively avoid it in favor of anything local while visiting China. My assumption is that preference would hold true for most other Asian counties.

I wish I had a Popeye's in my town. We used to have one, but it closed. Diego's is pretty good though.

I rarely do fast food anymore.
When I do, it's almost never fried chicken, as that's just too heavy and my stomach feels revolting afterwards.
However...I really miss Popeye's. There are none on my side of Canada, and unlike KFC and Dixie Lee it was always delicious without making me feeling like garbage afterwards (which, frankly, I never quite understood).

One of my top 5 fast food chains for sure.

For ramen pizza, maybe if you seasoned the sauce the way you would the broth, so it had that ramen flavor and then topped the pizza with other ramen fixings, then I could get on board.  Noodles on bread is an automatic no from me.

There is a Popeye's right up the street from me but I haven't gone in a while. I still need to get the chicken sandwich although I guess in this time it isn't feasable to do so. Maybe I can order from Grubhub...

Someone mentioned Mary Brown's.  All I have had is the Big Mary chicken sandwich because they have a deal on Monday for it.  It like it.  It kind of reminds me of the Big Crunch (or whatever it's called) at KFC.  I haven't tried the straight chicken yet though.  They have wedge fries and I don't like wedge fries so I haven't fully explored the menu because the combo would naturally come with them.

Forgot about this. Yes, I'll give it a recommendation. First time I tried it, I liked it a enough to go back and after 2 or 3 visits I became pretty hooked by it and it is a favorite fast food place I like to frequent. I've introduced a few others to it and they all liked it a lot as well. I even had it for supper last Monday so I'm still going there 6 years later. Was in B.C. for awhile where they didn't have any franchises in my area. Had to go to KFC more for fried chicken offerings as they were pretty much the only game in town but at least KFC was offering Hot and Spicy chicken for awhile. Then they stopped and I moved back to a different place where Mary Brown's are prevalent. I've gone to KFC maybe two times since. I just feel everything is better aside from perhaps the wings. I still like how KFC does their hot wings.

Mary Brown's is a bit more money compared to KFC so that's their one disadvantage but since the taste and quality seems better, I'm willing to spend a couple extra bucks for it. Like any fast food place (or restaurant), there have been times when things were a bit off. Wedges/taters were overdone or not really seasoned. Part of the chicken in the sandwich seemed a bit dry/chewy. But those are exceptions and some of that I can chalk up to the time of day I purchased it, like 5 minutes before closing.

Personally, I'm a big fan of the wedges/taters. Last year, I ranked fast food fries in Discord during some discussion that sprang up and I considered them the second best fast food fries behind Wendy's. Of course, I also consider Macdonald's fries near the bottom so I may have a different mindset for fries. KFC's fries were in last place. For me, they are a big reason why I crave and keep going to Mary Brown's. Ian Sane mentioned not liking wedge fries but doesn't state that he's tried them. Complaining about something before he's tried it? That doesn't sound like Ian at all. ;D However, you can also get regular straight cut fries as well. You have the option for any meal to get fries or taters and there is no price change difference for either selection. No excuses for not trying out the menu more!  >:(  I do get that wedge fries can be a tricky thing to get right since smaller bits and pieces can get overdone and you'd hate to get a larger piece that is quite softened/cooked. I can't recall ever having a large wedge that wasn't done but I've had smaller wedges that were more overdone. Yet, I'm willing to put up with that because the rest of the wedges are very good and when properly seasoned with salt I find them transcendent. Usually when I eat fries, I put vinegar on them. Ketchup just can not compare. These wedges are a rare exception where I have no problem eating them plain. The coating and salt on them is enough. I have tried dipping them a bit in gravy or even sour cream when at home but they seem to take away from the wedges rather than add to them so plain it is.

As for the regular fries, I like them. They're about the middle of the fry spectrum for me. I usually find them more soft than crispy almost like they've steamed than fried. In the case of the fries, I'm still putting vinegar on them or dunking them in gravy (or both!) but I think they are better than McDonalds, Burger King, or Dairy Queen fries and way better than what KFC will offer.

I should get into the chicken now but that will have to wait a bit. To be continued....

Although I like the idea of wedges, I've never actually enjoyed eating them. Your comment about the difficulty in finding that perfect consistency due to different sizing might be why, or maybe I'm just not enough of a potato guy.

However, since they earned your recommendation I'll give it a shot and let you know what I think. Looking at the menu online, probably a 2-piece signature chicken meal is the way to go?  The buffalo chicken wraps also look good though.

Weirdly my favorite fries are probably Arby's curly fries... but I'm not even sure that they are good. A big part of my love comes from a tradition of only eating them during road trips, usually at least a year or two apart, and having nostalgia for the Arby's roast beef sandwhiches from when I was a kid.

Well I have tried wedge fries in general, just not Mary Brown's.  But I didn't know you get normal fries as well so now I'm thinking I should try that out.

Competition for fried chicken in my area is fierce though.  Aside from Mary Brown's and KFC we also have a Popeye's now and then there's Brownie's.  In the early 80's Brownie's was a chain in BC.  I remember as a very young kid eating at the Hope location during a trip to the Okanagan.  The chain had long disappeared until it was resurrected recently, by the old owner.  There are only two locations, in Mission and Maple Ridge.  They have regular and cajun flavours.  I don't like the regular but the cajun is fantastic.  The place also has no difference in charge between white and dark meat so naturally I always ask for all white.  The fries are also really good, soft potato with a flaky, crispy skin.  If you happen to be in the Fraser Valley of British Columbia and want fried chicken then I suggest checking it out.

Okay, so I had Mary Brown's for lunch today.  Got a two piece meal with normal fries.  And it was fine but not really exceptional.  I like the Big Mary sandwich and will continue to get that but the normal chicken lacked the flavour the KFC or Popeye's has.  It was much more subtle.  The fries weren't bad but didn't stand out.  They're just perfectly acceptable fries.

Jojos are a local delicacy that perfects "wedge fries" You cut a large russet potato in eight equal sized pieces, coated in seasoned fried chicken flour and fry in a pressure cooker like a broaster. You don't get the dry little pieces or the under cooked large pieces.

I typically rank wedge cut fries very low for those reasons, but I would eagerly try any from a place that has perfected the technique.

Colorado got it's first In-N-Out yesterday.

Apparently people just couldn't wait to see what all the fuss is about going to In-N-Out and waiting in lines for decently good burgers and absolutely terrible fries. animal style or not.

Considering there is a pandemic happening right now, and that you can find as good, if not much better food minus the wait practically anywhere else, this is absolutely ridiculous.

the lines were sooooooo long, other businesses were complaining about how people would suddenly show up in droves for fast food, but refuse to support the local businesses in a time of need.

Local PD had to plead with the locals to just go eat somewhere else.... In-N-Out will be here tomorrow... and the day after and 6 months from now as well.... smh

I have a couple of times waited for In-N-Out burger for around 3 hours or so.  The Langley Cruise-In is a local classic cars show and In-N-Out used to (maybe still do; haven't gone in years) have a food truck at it.  This was a big deal because at the time the closest In-N-Out was in Redding, CA, a good 12 hour drive and a border crossing away.  So we would get there early to get a ticket to wait in line for 3 hours.  We did this two years in a row and decided it was not worth it anymore.

But we were waiting for a one-day-only chance to get In-N-Out in our area.  We didn't wait forever for a location that was permanently going to be in our town.  When Popeye's chicken sandwich was creating a frenzy I had no interest in going out of my way for it because I knew that in time the locations in my area would have them readily available, which they do now and they're delicious.  I probably would show up at a new In-N-Out if there was one opening here (or in Northwest Washington in a post-covid world where I can cross the border) but if I saw a lineup wrapping around the mall I would get something else to eat and return at a later date.
