Heh...your right, SK could make a new language with what they have here. The whole healing thing that made the game to easy could be easily fixed (and add more scare factor) is that they could have monsters follow you, like they would in real life.
Trust me, their would be nothing more freakier then have a bone theif stalking you room from room, you dragging yourself ever slowly and the bone theif lining up for the pounce.....

Their are countless different ancients SK could create so easily. Examples....(white or yellow) A ancient of life that is now known as the god, his servant that weilds powers similar to pious is obviously, Jesus....

(black) Then of course his nemesis (Satan) who is the ancient of corruption.

etc etc etc etc etc......I mean, SK could rewrite history with all the possiblities. You can have the most complex magik system ever put into a game. With tonnes of different new ruins, and the possibility of multiple new ancients SK could gain a bloody cult following similar to the likes of pokemon, all consuming what SK throws at them.

I mean sure, a yellow god is enough for a sequel, SK made ED with enough holes and gaps that they could make multiple sequels and prequels and still hold an as interesting story line as the origanal. Think about it, ED isn't a one off origanal game, but SKs own unique franchise

Isteamer...lol, you don't know how alike we are, i too am learning a 3rd language, and just today I put in add in the newspaper for a C++ tutor. And as i said in a post earlier, I'm learning Maya which will be the new 3d art programme used by companies such as SK in the near future.

I have been paying alot of attention to SK over the past couple years as a possible place to work for, because though i live in NZL, i have a Canadian passport. It's nice to see Denis coming onto forums like these, hes the only developer i have heard of that's actually bothered to do that. I just recently visited the SK website, and saw that they prefer hiring people who have no experience in the industry ( same as Zoonami, yet another country i have a passport for!). I hope Denis comes back to this thread, and perhaps give a bit of advice to us ( if he's in a good mood ) on how to get our finger tips in the industry.

Btw, the voice that tells the fire fighter to blow up the bridge is'nt Mantorok, er i dont think anyway. Because after just getting the Mantorok ruin i noticed it's voice is'nt deep, but more of a hushed whisper.

What kind of complete lifeless idiot would post as someone they are not? I dont know maybe i've been living under a rock for a while because the thought just gives me shivers down my spin. So, anyway if Rick says he is, I think theirs a bit of truth in it. And the fact that not every single person on the internet is a stupid liar will justify it as well.

Btw, all the "i loev u Dennsi U R RoXoRz" has probably scared him away

Nintendo Gaming / Pokemon 3d online rpg?
« on: March 08, 2003, 07:31:12 PM »
Seriously though, Nintendo will be stupid not to make a fully rpg online etc...I mean the Japanese have some sorta fetish for pokemon games, Nintendo would seriously sell like, a million Gamecubes in Japan alone. I mean, like i bet 70% of the Gameboy Advance owners in Japan bought it for JUST pokemon games.

expect it to happen, maybe not this year, maybe not the next. But it WILL.

Maybe Dennis can clear this up?

i dont think so. I reckon all he did was see the topic name, made a few casual replies and what do you get? a bit of hype for the sequel. I dont blame him, when i heard that ED didnt sell well i thought their was no justice left in the world. No offense, but especially in America

Mantorok was described as the corpse god wasn't he? It's been a while since I have been able to play the game. But yeah, I would agree that he is the god of death.

Yes he was, but i kept on getting the feeling that he wasnt all bad, actually i felt a bit sorry for him, especially when he ate his own gaurds to stay alive and having pious gimmick on how the mighty have fallen. O well hes a tough bastard, and he turned out a bit better then pious in the long run.

Btw, which reminds me, you know the sound he makes when Pious attacks him? it is the exact same sound as the velocirapter(spl?) in conkers bad fur day.

I always hoped you could summon him in the boss fight. It would of been cool seeing a big octapus kick the others asses.

I didnt know about stabbing the gate keepers from behind, i always attacked them up front with one hit, then run back quickly before they slashed me. it worked, but took like 5 minutes and was hella hard. i should of known their was a better way.

Why an axe when we could use say, a spoon? the edge is dull and causes more pain. We can also lock him in his own basement and starve him a little, so that he will plead mercy mercy. And we will say no, i am sorry Mr, but you made fun of Metroid Prime, you are going to die in the most painful and embarressing way possible.

He is obviously one of Bill gates personal "rent a Friend" so who cares, whats done is done, it doesnt matter really what they say i mean Metroid Prime has sold the bulk of what it will sell in the long run so it isn't exactly going to hurt sales from just this one guy saying this one thing.

Wow i think your right. Though, all the ancients aritfacts gave off corrosive energy. Mantoroks Gaurdians? Why, it was those big Grim Reapers right? I mean, they were only in his tomb, and the fact that he was binded meant that pious had a limited control over them. They were my most hated enemy. I could never kill them and you loss sanity every couple seconds. I found it pretty weird how you would run away from them on low health and sanity, and just before you escaped, you fell down dead. D: It was alot easier killing the other gaurdians, for Edward all i did was enchant my elephant gun to max, and use it's greatest enemies alignment. Bang....Bang....dead.

Lava could of been blue, i guess. I mean, When something is really really really hot, it turns blue right? so yea blue lava should work

seriously though, what a stupid comment it was for him to say that it graphic wise was inferior to the xbox. The most realistic xbox game is arguebly (spl?) Splinter Cell. And what does gamecube have an IMPROVED version coming to cube. The creators said so themselves. I got an idea.

how about we kill him. Ill get the my axe in the shed. Lets go.

Mantorok Represented death and decay? Did the game actually say that or is that just from all the evidence put together by you? Who knows. I guess Mantorok could really count as chaos and death,  though i always thought he was more along the lines of strength, magick, and mind all put into one. Who knows, he was the big daddy of the lot. Nuff said.

Metroid Prime doesn't appeal to them like it does American gamers, plus it's American made, which they seem somewhat reluctant to get (look at Xbox figures).

WRONG. As some one who knows a little bit of the Japanese culture i can assure you that nowadays the Japanese LOVE the American culture. Moving away from the gaming industry Do you see them wandering around wearing "Japan is cool" shirts? no. You see them wearing USA t-shirts and it is by far the most coolest thing in the world to own an American made car. But you may say that thats not the gaming business, The truth is Japanese people dont often by crap, which, Microsofts Xbox, i'snt up to standard with the PS2 and Gamecube.

He did? what chapter was that? Actually now that i think of it i sort of remember something like that, however i passed it by as him tricking the character (forgot who it was) into giving it to him/her. However i might be completely wrong. It wouldn't make any sense at all that his undoing was by the book he created.

But if it was, who gave the book into the right hands? Mantorok? probably, if i remember correctly The girl in the second chapter (sorry forgotten again, i'll have to go and get it back off my friend)
was, a worshipper of Mantorok???? all the gaurds their seemed to be on her side. But the zombies obviously werent.... If i understood the game correctly, Mantorok was good (for an ancient) as he was already summoned on earth,  who summoned? wait, now im getting confused. didnt he banish the other ancients? anyway, he was on earth yet he didnt destroy it and eat everyone (like the others would). He just needed some attention and worshipping and the occasional human snack and he wouldn't go on a rampage.

Is this right guys? I'm a tad lost, i havent played it in like 4 months. But if he was summoned, who did? ugh...I think i just need to wait for the sequel and most of my questions will be answered.

Edit: I should of known...look on the box art, what does it show? a stone circle WITH 5 obelisks. Now that i remember i first found that odd, thinking each one represented a certain ancient, (the taller being Mantorok...or possibly....) however i disregarded the possibility their was another ancient as they all seemed so snugly and complete with red beats green, green beats blue, blue beats red, purple beats all....or in easier terms the pokemon way: fire beats grass, grass beats water, water beats fire, psychic(spl?) beats all their asses.

I am quite sure the tome was created by Mantorok. but, that leaves a problem. How did he make it????? i mean he doesnt exactly have any hands Perhaps he had a servant (slave) like Pious was to the lesser ancients, so who is he/she/it? perhaps they appeared in the first briefly, as it seems Silicon Knights were happy to drop many vague hints for a sequel.

Another question, did Mantorok die? maybe it tells you in the third ending everyone talks about. ( I would know, but some thieving Maroi has my Gamecube .

BTW Denis, I'll have to admit i hated the first couple of hours of ED. Perhaps (and this is from a stupid and immature teenager who knows nothing about making great games and how to display them) you can explain the story in the sequel/Too human a bit quicker? i mean i played the first couple of hours with all my playstation biased friends and all they did was laugh at the (their opinion not mine) average graphics the supposed to be scary bits ( it was daytime sigh...) and the weird story line that made no sense. Of course i found it was genius and all but unfortunatly as everyone knows this industry is changing and probably why it didn't sell very well was because people rented it, played the first couple chapters, threw the game down in frustration and confusion and played Tony Hawk or Grand Theft Auto instead and never touched it again.

Before I get you and the other members a little irratted at my somewhat negative post i was wondering if you (Denis) were looking for any 3d artists, because im currently teaching myself Maya and i would really like to know the qualifications for applying for a job at SK. Anyway you probably wont even look at this thread again so perhaps i'll just send SK an e-mail and hope for a reply.
