TalkBack / Re: Nintendo Explains Why Smaller New 3DS Isn't Coming to NA
« on: February 17, 2015, 03:39:17 PM »
In other words they're saying that the sales in America aren't worth the effort of bringing more options over. Instead they'll just reduce options until only the New XL and 2DS are left.
It's just NoA getting ready to abandon their current platforms prematurely yet again.

Hooray, more torture and bitterness for unworthy Americans like me.

I'll double dip once Nintendo of America gets their heads out of Reggie's a** and release the standard New 3DS over here. If not, I still have the Wii version.

So they think we Americans only deserve horrible, pixellated screens?
NoA has been steadily lowering themselves down a deep, dark hole and this is probably one of the things that'll finally cut the rope.

Well, apparently Wii U does have a niconico app...but only in Japan. Sucks though, since any Vita can download and access that app.

This is the type of game I'd love to have digitally, but I'll wait for a good sale due to Ninty's version of "DRM".

TalkBack / Re: New 3DS, It Can't Be Worse Than the Old 3DS
« on: September 02, 2014, 02:24:14 PM »
Perfectly valid article.
Personally I have the original Zelda 3DS and have yet to meet any response issues, but there are other designs issues with the danged thing. My circle pad's rubber top is falling apart, which has never happened to me on any Nintendo console (even the N64 stick) and the plastic top layer is peeling off of my d-pad even though I barely use it. The d-pad itself is terrible; it's clicky and practically painful to use. Strangely, my little brother's Aqua Blue isn't clicky. Still not a good d-pad, but not as bad as mine. Not to mention the top screen scratches. I have a screen protector, so the scratches are on the screen protector but I haven't checked to see if they penetrated further and scratched my actual top screen.

Is the version we're getting Fantasy Life Link! or is it the original?

TalkBack / Re: Club Nintendo Elite Status Gifts Now Available
« on: July 16, 2014, 12:44:38 PM »
Considering there's largely no value difference between the Gold and Platinum selection, Platinum members should be allowed to choose two. Anyway, these rewards are terrible. Not a good way to reward your most faithful fans anyway Nintendo. Club Nintendo's shutting down soon folks. NoA was reluctant to bring this service to America in the first place. Now they figured out a good way to get rid of it.

Wii U or PC would be fine if it comes over. None of that streaming crap. If they were able to get it running fully on 3DS and mobile, then it'd be cool to have those as well. Otherwise, no.

TalkBack / Re: Pokémon Omega Ruby, Alpha Sapphire Revealed for 3DS
« on: May 07, 2014, 12:51:27 PM »
Ruby and Sapphire are widely held as the worst of the mainline Pokemon games, and I do think think they are the worst too, so i'm not sure how many people will be excited by these remakes.

I don't know about that. Ruby was my second most favorite mainline Pokemon game after Silver. Personally I found gen 4 to be terrible and gen 5 was merely 'ok' (I felt absolutely no desire to complete the game, as in training my pokemon and beating the Elite Four, like I did for Red, Silver, and Ruby).

Even if this kind of thing is common with F2P games, it's still pretty weird to see Nintendo providing continuous free content updates for their games.

TalkBack / Re: Physical Games vs. Digital Games: The Face-Off
« on: February 20, 2014, 11:53:17 PM »
I have no problems going partially digital for my PSP games (as long as the digital prices are lower than used physical prices) and I buy plenty of $2-7 Android games. HOWEVER, I personally think that only a fool would go full digital on any Nintendo console right now. Unless they live in the most secure house in the world and are able to telepathically locate a missing console. Even if the price on eShop for a retail game ever becomes SOMEHOW cheaper than physical, I would still have a hard time choosing digital over physical. Nintendo's lack of an account system (I consider Nintendo Network to be a console identification system) makes me uncertain when it comes to buying games on eShop, especially after having my Wii and DSi stolen. I do buy eShop-only titles, but only because they're cheaper than most retail games and are only available digitally. Even then, I always need to stop and wonder if the game is really worth buying on an insecure platform.
Hopefully Nintendo hurries up the development of their long-overdue account system.

TalkBack / Re: RUMOR: Wii U Sells Approximately 230,000 in November
« on: December 12, 2013, 08:20:07 PM »
Would be great if Nintendo's next console is a high powered handheld that'll take over both their portable and home business. Lately I've been more into mobile and handheld gaming. For example, I've starting getting into Sony handhelds and have started buying some of them (including the Xperia Play). I really like how Sony designs their handhelds aesthetically and internally, despite a couple stupid shortcomings (mainly proprietary stuff like memory).
I still think Nintendo's best handheld effort was the Game Boy Micro, no matter how much of a failure it was. Would be great if their next handheld is something amazing, instead of a minor step up from the previous generation like the 3DS was.

Considering they brought over Diva F for PS3 and are bringing Diva f for Vita next year, I can only hope they decide to bring this over as well.
If not...where's my 3DS custom firmware? I truly hope the hackers will be able to remove region-lock on 3DS and DSi games, so I can play Fire Emblem Shin Monshou no Nazo Hikari to Kage no Eiyuu as well without having to buy a DS Lite.
Actually, even if this game does make it to the west, I still want that custom firmware; there have been way too many 3DS games that have been left over in Japan, despite Nintendo's and Ninty fanboys' impossible claims of most 3DS games being brought over.

Sadly, this IS the "big" announcement.

It LOOKS like this game makes much better use of the second screen than Harvest Moon A New Beginning...though I think I'll wait for Rune Factory 5 to see if they take advantage of everything the 3DS has to offer.

Hopefully Pikachu will be the only one to have its anime cry, since its the mascot. The idea of these creatures SAYING their names is just beyond stupid.

Personally, I believe the 2DS is a smart decision as well. Actually I think it's a brilliant design. Now Nintendo can cater to more people: those who want to play Nintendo's latest and greatest handheld without having to pay more than $130, people who don't want 3D at all and would like to pay less, people who want 3D and don't want to pay $200 for bigger screens, and those who want 3D and bigger screens. It's also a nice reaction to the inevitable Vita price drop. Now Nintendo has a new base-model handheld that is $70 less than Sony's...and has more internal memory and included external memory.

TalkBack / Re: Art Academy: SketchPad Review
« on: August 09, 2013, 12:05:21 AM »
$4 huh...not too bad I guess. However, it doesn't seem like people who buy this will get the full tool set. I'm pretty sure the full version will have paint and other tools as well...
So in other words, $4 is a bit much when you compare it to apps like Colors! on Android or 3DS or Sketchbook Pro on Android tablets (like the Note 10.1). This also seems like a paid demo of sorts...I'll probably still end up getting it though, since I'll never grab the full version anyway (full version will probably cost $40?).
I hope Jens Andersson has a Wii U version of Colors! coming.

Huh........maybe...just maybe...even if my dragon-type Eevee doesn't get into this game, a MegaCharizard and especially a MegaTyphlosion WILL convince me to get it.

TalkBack / Re: Japanese Indie Developers Cannot Develop for Wii U
« on: July 26, 2013, 02:16:13 PM »
Aren't indies required by some law in Japan to have a publisher to get their games on consoles? That must be the problem right? Perhaps if Japanese indies devs were given as much freedom as western indies, Nintendo would allow them to develop for Wii U.
