New Yokai Watch Busters game out last week. Also, Nintendo Switch had a real bumper of a week.

Damn...Switch is potentially on track to eclipse PS4 sales in Japan with the next year or so. Wii U will be surpassed within a few more weeks.

If the Switch did over 200k last week then it's guaranteed to do the same thing again this week and could have a chance of being even higher since the week before Christmas always has the highest sales for Nintendo systems.  If they can get around 300k for this week and get at least 150k for next week then the Switch should surpass the Wii U's total by the end of the year.

Plus Nintendo's own games continue to mostly have solid legs.  Even Arms and Pokken are holding on pretty good for the holidays.

I saw a ton (honestly probably 20 or so) of them at Target earlier today. They must be restocking as soon as they sell, because it's apparently still selling like crazy in the US. My local Beat Buy had dozens on Black Friday and for a day or so afterwards, but they seem to have sold out now.

It seems things have become more serious than we initially thought. Japanese video game retailer GEO, which has 1200 outlets nationwide, says Nintendo has completely ran out of certain first party software titles (Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, 1-2 Switch, and a couple more) across all of its distribution centers in Japan. Retailers aren’t able to order any stock as Nintendo doesn’t have them on hand.

Looks like Japan better embrace that digital download.

Is France traditionally a big market for Nintendo, or is this news specifically because it is surprising?
I'm surprised to hear Switch being so close to Xbox 1, but not sure if it means the Switch is a runaway success there, or if the Xbox hasn't done nearly as well as expected.

It'd be interesting to see how European countries differ from each other. I imagine Germany being big on driving games like Forza and Gran Turismo, Italy too perhaps. Whereas I'd say that the U.K. would be more into Fifa/Pro Evo sports titles. But France? I think artsy indie titles and stylised cartoony graphics would appear to the French... but yes that's based on nothing but uninformed stereotyping. Don't mean to offend anyone, just taking guesses.

France tends to be fascinated by Japan and vice versa, which leads to things like Yuji Hori going to anime expos in Paris. It's probably Nintendo's strongest European market.
