Nintendo went third party! Happy now, Hard Core gamerz?

No, you have to remember, this app was released by The Pokemon Company International. They are not directly a part of Nintendo, they just happen to work with Nintendo of the video game series.

You do know that Pokemon Company is 100% owned by Nintendo? They are like Retro Studios or Intelligent Systems in that they are subsidiaries of Nintendo. So, yes, they ARE directly part of Nintendo.

While TPCi is owned by Nintendo, they are still a subsidiary, which means they work independently from Nintendo.

I take this quote from the following IGN article:

Quote from: IGN
Please keep in mind that The Pokémon Company International is a subsidiary of Nintendo - the two companies are not one and the same. In other words, this development in no way contradicts Nintendo President Satoru Iwata's past commentsabout abstaining from releasing game-related content on mobile devices - nor does it reflect a change in this long-held standpoint. As a subsidiary, The Pokémon Company is, in many ways, separate from Nintendo - that's why it was able to do this, and why Pokémon-related iOS apps have already been released in Japan prior to this.

"The book, originally released in Japan in late 2010,"

I'm pretty sure that this came out last year.  Not 2010.

Looking forward to a purchase.  It would have been cool if it released in the same time frame as Skyward Sword, but whatever.  I expect this to be pretty awesome, anyways.

No, it came out in 2010; December 21, 2010 to be exact.

I can't wait to pick this up, I knew passing over translations would be a good thing!

Edit: I guess I type too fast!

Nintendo Gaming / Re: New Puzzles for Puzzle Swap on 3DS
« on: July 19, 2012, 02:51:01 PM »
So is the Kirby's 20th Anniversary puzzle the only new puzzle panel? I haven't heard people mention any other ones.

I read over at another site that Japan got both the Kirby panel and an Onitore/Brain Training 3DS panel. Hopefully NA/EU 3DS' will get that one prior to the release of Onitore (and yes, it is coming to Western markets - confirmed back at the last financial briefing) and the Fire Emblem panel as we approach its release next year.

Other game ideas:
-Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition (if people still play/have that game)
-Mario Tennis Open

That's all I've got.

See you guys on Tuesday!

Finally, a deal on a game that I don't have!

I was on the fence about this game because of the little amount of variable gameplay, but this sale has me convinced to at least try it. $5 is a lot better than $7.

Question!
Does this game come out on 8/19 or 8/17? At Nintendo events they keep saying the 19th but on the eShop page for the game it says that it releases on August 17th. Does anybody know the truth???

Aside, this game looks pretty cool. When NSMB 1 came out on DS, it was innovative because it brought back the 2D platforming but now we have 4 games. Happy for co-op and StreetPass.

What will make this a retail or digital purchase for you? I think I will go digital just to have the game with me all the time (but Luigi's Mansion and Paper Mario are probably going to be retail buys for me.)

EDIT: The eShop page for the game was updated to reflect the release date of August 19th in the US.

Wish this was downloadable. :(

At least we are going to still get downloadable trailers like we have in the past. That is so nice of Nintendo. I still have all of the trailers from last year's E3, last September and earlier this year. I hope this support continues.

At one GameStop I was at, they were also advertising that customers could buy codes for 3D Classics: Kid Icarus starting this Friday. They were listed at $5.99 each. I didn't ask about them though.

Alright...

so after my L.A. Amusement park trip I finished Find Mii.
Now what?

where is Find Mii 2? Do I just restart and play again? what about the 5 other soldiers I had on crew at the time of the boss slaying? what happens to them? Do I get a refund?

What's next?

Have you finished Find Mii (number 1) twice and unlocked all of the original hats? If not, get through it again then Find Mii 2 will unlock automatically. If you have beaten Find Mii 1 twice, then something is wrong and you will want to contact Nintendo.

As I've seen, they have devs have done it before, and with the update they were able to do it on 3DS now too.

I was so disappointed when I missed the codes Kotaku gave away last night. Would have loved one of those.

1.  No save/restore states. ...

I think this might bother me more if the original games weren't designed for a portable system anyway. Don't most of them do a reasonable job of adding save points so that they could be easily played on the GBA?

The lack of a DS-type sleep mode is weird, but many GBA games had a sleep mode programmed in so maybe they didn't want to interfere or compete with that. Maybe there is some other reason.

I was going to say that don't most of them either auto-save or have save points in them, so you don't really need the save state (because why would you continue on if you know you would have to go do something else shortly), but the restore points would have been nice.

Great show you guys! Over $3600 and almost 115% of your goal at the end of the show! Amazing!! Can't wait for the recording and then next year.

Now I will try and get by the waiting by listening to last years show.

I didn't think any multi-player features were confirmed for GBA titles...  but yeah, the lack of the ability to play with DSi owners (or myself x4) would be a drawback as well.

Actually, that is part of the reason behind getting them later. I thought that it was confirmed that GBA would have multiplayer. I'm on the hunt for a source.

Just imagine if NOA just hits the megaton button and releases Mario Land 2, Metroid 2, and Zelda four swords free on Thursday. The internet will rejoice, Do it Nintendo.

No, you thought of it wrong, NOA says that they are releasing Four Swords on Wednesday the 28th (the day it launches everywhere). Then they will be clear to release Mario Land 2 and Metroid 2 on Thursday.

It would be nice if this was apart of the Nintendo Video service instead though. Perhaps up the slots to 5 and dedicate one just for this show.

Or, you know, they could just replace the "Nintendo Video is..." video that has been up forever. It's not like it gives us information we don't already know.

Nintendo Gaming / Cave Story 3D vs. Cave Story DSiWare

So, if I plan on getting Cave Story 3D should I still get Cave Story on DSiWare? If so, why?

CollegeHumor is trying out 5 series to be premiered first on the 3DS and then online. Nintendo is then going to pick which one they like the most (which will probably be the one most people don't like) and then that will become a series to be premiered on the 3DS as a regular update. http://bit.ly/pB3ntx

I hope one of the other two yet to premier are better because nothing has grabbed my interest that much. The best ones so far, I think, is either BearShark or Pizza Quest.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Pokemon Rumble Blast
« on: July 19, 2011, 04:38:48 PM »
All I got to play was the demo of the original (because I don't have any Wii Points). It was a different experience than the other spin-off Pokemon games. It was a lot of fun. This should be good but we will have to wait and see reviews for the game to tell if it is better or worse than the first. I think that, unless it has tons of content, this would be better suited to be a 3DSWare title over a full retail game, but who knows, it may be worth $40.

EDIT: I forgot, the game comes out next week in Japan. Hopefully it gets good coverage. One site I know will for sure have info about the game is Serebii.net if you want to find out more. Some information has come out about the game but not much.

I can't wait for it. Especially because Retro Studios(!) is codeveloping it with Nintendo. Still hoping for 3rd party characters!
