Title: Monster Hunter 3 Online Component Revealed

Welcome to Loklak, your new virtual Monster Hunter 3 home.

1UP recently revealed the online virtual city in Monster Hunter 3, which is called Loklak.

Once players connect to Monster Hunter 3's online mode, they will be able to explore the city before embarking out on a quest. The city is divided up into five areas.

The first area in Loklak is the town gate, which allows players to chose which server to go to based on the level of experience you and your character has. The town gate also has the information desk, which shows special sales that shops are holding or special limited-time events or quests.

The next area is the main square, which allows players to trade items, buy tools or materials, and create new things with the materials you own. If you want to make new furniture for your guesthouse, the main square also offers an interior workshop if you have the proper materials to create them.

In the tavern, players will be able to pick quests to embark on. If you don't want to go on a quest, the tavern also holds various tournaments. The tavern also allows you to purchase food to power up your character before going on a quest or participating in a tournament.

The lodging row contains each player's guesthouse. The size of the guesthouse is dependent on your character's hunter rank. Players will be able to furnish their guesthouse with furniture that they have purchased, made, or found. You can also invite your Monster Hunter 3 friends to hang out in your guesthouse.

The last area in Loklak is the workshop, where you will be able to buy, upgrade, or modify your weapons. If you want to upgrade or modify your weapons, you need to supply your own materials in order to do so.

It is also worth noting that players will be able to communicate using a USB keyboard. There are currently no confirmed plans for Wii Speak compatibility.

Japanese players will be able to explore the world of Monster Hunter 3 and Loklak on August 1. While it hasn't been officially announced, a Capcom financial document has the game listed for a 2010 release in North America and Europe.

If you guys want to see how impressive this game is, Movie 1 (http://wii.com/jp/movies/monster-hunter3-movie1/) and  Movie 2 (http://wii.com/jp/movies/monster-hunter3-movie2/)

If there was a fullscreen button, I didn't find it.

Movie 2 looked like it had some stuff from the prerendered intro, but a lot of stuff from in-game. Also, the ending looks scary! That's got to be the biggest monster yet.

Still, I don't think this game will give us a camera that will make the hunting any easier. The lack of any lock-on is a bit of trouble, but no monster tracking camera at all is a real pain this series seems insistent on having.

I tried the PSP demo and the camera was annoying as hell.  However, it seems to be one of those quirks of the series that fans don't mind overlooking, so more power to them.

This looks really cool, though.

I'm only interested in MH3 until Capcom confirms the online mode is pay-to-play.

One day you'll fall in love with an MMO and see the error of your ways, Jonny.

Isn't the usual rule pay in Japan, free outside? MF2FU came out recently in the west, right? Does that have pay-to-play?

The PSP Monster Hunter games don't even support online play, they only support local multiplayer. The only way to play "online" with the PSP MH games is through "tunneling". All the Monster Hunter console games were pay to play (and yes the one PC MMO  MH game) in Japan. The PS2 Monster Hunter game in America had free online play.

It'll probably be, MH isn't terribly popular in the west.
