Mafia XVIII: Super Smash Bros. Brawfia! Day 9-Battleship Halberd
« on: September 12, 2007, 08:56:32 AM »
After several conflicts and uprising from the players against the host.  Stevey finally committed Seppuku to make amends for his mistakes.

Unfortunately he found no volunteer to be his second, and the death was agonizingly painful.

Now Spak-Spang is hijacking the game to bring you the last day of the game.  DAY 9.

Spak-Spang was voted out by one or two votes.  The townies rally to revenge their beloved Khush...before Spak-Spang was caught he choked and died on his own lies.  "I am not Mafiiiaaaaaaaaa."  Croak.

"Wow, that was anti-climatic."  Zach said digging himself out of his own grave.  "What kind of host gives a grave digger to save his own life, that is just weirder than the WB canceling Buffy but keeping Charmed on the air for who knows how many worthless seasons more."

With the host dead and the game now over, we must hope that people will come forward and reveal their hidden roles to rest of the players.  And it is quite disconcerting to me that a Suicide Bomber still lurks among the living townies just waiting for the stress of life to boil over before going BOOOM!!!!

Thus ends another SMASHING game of Mafia.

Let us use this thread to reflect over the game.  This game had many positives and negatives to it, and just like any mafia game I think constructive criticism is definitely needed to help create a better Mafia next game.

Again CONGRATS to the Townies and their dead savior Khush, for without his sacrifice and power this game may have turned up differently...ok probably not.

Zach, I would have killed you again before you could of resurrected Khush.

That is just how I roll.  That is why raising yourself from the dead would be silly...because everyone knows who you are and once you do it the Mafia would kill you before you could raise somebody else.

Yeah, I know, except you forget, the night you killed me the first time, I was still able to bring TVman back from the grave.  So presumably you would've killed me, but I still would have been able to bring khush back for the day, then I would come back again and be able to bring one last person before I was killed for good.  Plus you forget about the Jesus role (or I dont know if there was a doctor role).  Khush would've lived again!

I had a total of 5 reserections
1.  TVman
2.  Me
3.  Khush
4.  Me
5.  Somebody else (possibly khush again).  Here I finally die for good

Then...Khush finally dies

This keeps me in the game for a little while longer, and you waste all of your kills on me and khush!  By the time you would finally be able to get rid of us both the game would be over!

Whatever; this game was so broken it's not even funny.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Now, now, vudu, don't be a sore loser.
“...there are those who would...say, '...If I could just not have to work everyday...that would be the most wonderful life in the world.' They don't know life. Because what makes life mean something is purpose.  The battle. The struggle.  Even if you don't win it.” - Richard M. Nixon

I'm not a sore loser; the game was horrible stacked in favor of the townies.  I'd say the same thing if I were a good guy.

Anyway . . .  sorry for really not getting into this game of Mafia. It was my first and from reading everything I don't get the idea this was a good game to start out on (Seeing as how many things weren't done right, I think haha).

Stevey how is the game not over?  The last Mafia was voted out on Day 8.  The host disappeared for 3 days...and everyone has lost interest.

I am not one that is upset with your game.  I think you brought alot of positive and great ideas to the game...some just needed to be balanced.

1)I loved your idea of keeping roles hidden, and as such hope that will become the standard.  With one exception...roles are revealed once someone actually uses their power for the first time.  Not the person who has it...but that the role exists.  So a Bomber will always be hidden until BOOM.  Or a Mafia recruiter would always be hidden until he has recruited someone then you know not only there is a recruiter but now you can't trust one of the townies.

2)Several roles that we haven't seen too often were quite cool.  1)Brother/Sister role was very cool, and I liked the concept of basically being a powerless Townie with alittle information.  2)Khush's Whore role was fun, but should be balanced not to work against the Godfather...since the Godfather would appear to be a townie anyway.  Then it would not be a big deal if he got unlimited use...but still every other day would be good.

3)Reveals after death.  This is a pretty fun idea, but needs to be limited.  Once an investigator died on either side it is pretty cool to know who they investigated and potentially what they may have known or passed on.  It is also cool to know who the Mafia Godfather hit or tried to hit (if there is a doctor) once he is dead.  But the Mafia Doctor role became too much a liability...and even trying to use that information to frame Nuclear Speed didn't work too well.  However, I do think that Revealing who the Townie Doctor was protecting is legit information to be revealed.  Basically, any information that may give information about Mafia strategy without revealing exactly who Mafia members are is ok.  The same with Townie information...and since knowing who the Townie Doctor protected doesn't positively ID a townie as the Investigator or vigilante or anyone it is ok.   And the Mafia already knew that person wasn't Mafia.

4)Not really a game breaker but short stories and to the point days.  I like being able to read a story, but it needs to be fast...one or two sentences, perhaps something funny and move to the next day.  Perhaps the stories this game could have been longer but the principle was nice.

EDIT:

5)I also loved the Jesus role for taking place of the Doctor.  I personally am not a fan of the Doctor role, and when I read the Jesus role I thought it was really silly and out of place.  But the idea that someone can sacrifice themself for a player is intriguing.  I would put in the rules that the sacrificer wins the game if they side he sacrifices his life for wins...so that:  1) He is encouraged to sacrifice himself and still win the game with a 50/50 shot.  2) The role could be used to support either side, with nobody really knowing what side he chose or why.

Apparantly There is more to this Mafia then meets the eye.  Moderator please lock this thread or delete the thread entirely as there is still a game going on.

I am sorry I jumped the gun with this Mafia ending, because I thought it was over.  Stevey is still running the game and doing an interesting job with some surprises down the road.

I think overall it would be better to delete this thread entirely.
