« on: October 16, 2006, 08:32:29 PM »
Thanks for the comments everyone. I'm glad to hear that most everyone enjoyed it. I'm also proud for all the new people that played. We had at about 5 new people in the top 11 there. Sadly, a couple got hosed by being killed early on but I think at least one of them will still be back. (I'm looking at you Spak). Way to go Vudu. Not only did you win but you survived right to the end, making top 3. Or in the case of the story, 1st place.

Anyways, I have to say that it is quite a different experience hosting the game. I had a few worries over what was happening. First, the Stabby incident. Then, Pale trying to squeeze the mole for all his info. Vudu doing the same thing later by telling the mole to spill the beans. 18 Days basically told everyone to vote for Stevey. She was correct but that didn't go over well with Stevey. (I don't think that vendetta has ended). I had ShyGuy making coy posts about my protection of Stabby. Stevey asked me if I sent Infernal his mafia role. I had no way of checking because I had long dumped my mailbox of the roles being sent out, so I was worried that I might have messed up on that mafia.

I'd have some conflicting orders on the same person and had to figure out how the order would work. And questions. Man, the questions. So many explanations of roles. One thing I was worried about also was guiding people on how to use their roles. For instance, Mantidor was the magician and had a lot of questions about the role. Maybe it wasn't the best role for a new person but I tried to explain the benefits of the role and how it could be useful. I gave the example that if he knew the mafia was going to vote out the doctor, he could switch roles with the doctor and keep that role in play. This is something he later did. After Perm basically gave away his role in desperation one day, Mantidor switched roles with him that evening. Then as the doctor Mantidor kept protecting Perm in the night and prevented a MaxVelocity hit. Instance like that made me worry I was influencing the game.

The one time I did try to influence the game was at the end when it became apparent the Killer wasn't going to try to play for the win. I begged and tried to persuade him to think otherwise but he refused. That was another thing that had me worrying because by not playing optimally (playing to win), it could upset other people, like MaxVelocity, because that wasn't the way you play the role. You try to kill everyone, not just one side. It bugged me more personally I think because when I play strategy games with people, I want everyone playing to win. It always bugs me when people just decide to throw strategy out the window and just start doing things for laughs or hindering another player for no reason. I've had a few people do that to me and it just bugs me with a passion. But, let me get away from that subject before I start fuming over my own experiences. It didn't happen to me and if that's how ShyGuy wanted to play, I let him.

Still, it's good to know that in the end, there aren't any real issues that bother people or have them upset. I'm sure there are some things people will want revenge with in the next game.

Now, I mentioned before that I was going to go over the roles and what I thought worked, what needed to be discarded and what should be tossed. Also, I might even delve into the purpose of the role.

Let's start with Godfather. No improvements. I did borrow Pale's idea of replacing the Godfather for this game but I also made sure to make a compelling reason why with the mole. Never came into play. One thing I did think about was letting both mafia's make a hit every night but decided against it might be too powerful for the mafias. The townies can only kill one with a vote and the mafias would be able to kill two at night and that seemed unbalanced.

Mafia Doctor. I brough this role back in part because I wanted each mafia member to have something to do if they weren't godfather. Also, I expected there to be a hunt for the doctor with this role and for it to be a more powerful role later in the game by taking away townie protection and giving the remaining mob members protection. Spak had the best improvement for this role I think. Let them have actions on their mafia's night and actions every day when the townie doctor is dead.

Mafia recruiter. Again, another role from Pale's game. I remember in that game how awesome I thought that role was and talked to my godfather about strategy around it. My thinking was that we should kill the other mafia's recruiters giving us the only one. With our recruiter we keep bring in more member's while the other mafia's slowly wither and die. I later learned that there were great odds to successful recruiting and it was limited who could be recruited. (Although, if my godfather had followed my advice MattVDB would have been dead long ago and not have been able to recruit Zach successfully for a win at the end) I decided to narrow the odds. I tried to think of what would work for a good randomizer. The only thing I had available was a dice. Maybe the odds could have been improved on but again, if it's too easy to recruit, then everyday you vote a mafia member out, another one comes in. I don't think it was that bad. There were two successful recruits. Athrun only had two cracks at it before refusing to recruit because of his mole role.

Mafia Spy - Again, we discussed this already in the dead thread. Should the spy have had an action every night? I debated that but felt no. With two mafias there was a potential for both mafias to find the important townie roles fast and eliminate them.

Mafia propagandist. The name of this role may be changed but I think it has some potential. It allows the mafia to cancel a vote which can help. I liked the idea of picking a corrupted townie but that I will discuss more of next. The one thing that would have to be worked on is what would happen if the propagandist cancelled a vote and it lead to a tie. It would be obvious which person a vote was cancelled for by looking over the tally? How would the Game Master handle that? Fortunately, it never came into play.

Corrupted townie. I know one person who hated this role and I don't blame him. The idea for the corrupted townie came the fact that I thought it would be neat to have a townie working for the mafia. If investigated, he would seem innnocent. The problem came from the fact that the propagandist controlled the townie, thereby limiting his innocence act. There was also conflict over the fact that the Corrupted townie could become innocent again and thus there was a conflict of interest to work with the mafia. If done again, I would just make the corrupted townie a full-fledged mafia member. This person would be whoever the propagandist chooses though. One other thing. The idea for this role came from Zach's mafia game when I offered to give away my vote. i even said I'd post anything the person who had my services wanted. Maybe it should have been a clue that it wasn't the best idea when I was killed by Day 2 or so.

The mole. Likewise, since a townie was working for the mafia, I thought it should be evened by having a mafia member work for the mole. Wandering made some ggod points about the mole's loyalty and one way I tried to fix that was with the blackmailer, though this may again have created a conflict of interest like the corrupted townie. I was glad that the moles did follow the rules and only let out information as specified by the package rule. That said, it might have been to overpowered in the townies advantage. By 4 days, with no recruits, the entire mafia is exposed. Perhaps the way to limit it might have been a package on that mafia's action day. Or maybe a mole just can't work in this game. I came across this role under Wikipedia's article for this game which someone linked me the first time I played Mafia. And so, I thought I'd give it a spin with this game. It also came from my experience with Pale's game where I hooked up with a couple townies and the townie assassin and started revealing who was who on the other mafias. That still brings a smile to me.

The blackmailer -  It was a name only role. Basically, by eliminating it, it just allowed the mole to make a final choice. Townie win or mafia win. If there is no mole in the game, there's no reason for this role. And considering what had happened in the game, it might have been better to make the mole return to the mafia automatically. Though again, if the mole's actions were limited to just action nights, then it might still be feasible to let the mole have a choice. If there is no choice, then the townies may want to portect this role more.

That's enough writing for now. I'll talk abit tomorrow about the other roles. Feel free to keep posting your experinces on the game. It helps a lot.

Out of the time barrier stepped Digi-Boy.

"Digi-Boy?!" exclaimed everyone.

"Great. Someone get a mind wipe device and then send him back to the past," ordered the Head.

"QQQ. Stun ray," demanded Digi-Boy.

A bright light flashed forth from QQQ's eye and froze everyone in the room.

"I'm afraid there will be no stopping my plan. In a few minutes, the past will have so irrevocably changed this future that the past will have become fact," explained Digi-Boy.

"What are you doing? Are you insane? You have no idea the consquences of your actions," exclaimed the Head.

"Oh but I do. I know exactly what will happen. Heck, I sent this robot back knowing that it would waste enough time until I was forced to act. It allowed me the time I needed to put my plans into action in the past. You see, when Black Shadow died from an intergalactic rift, I was asked to help make some devices to prevent that from happening. As I was working on that problem, I met up with Phoenix, an agent of yours. He offered to lend me QQQ to help with the problem. Of course, QQQ seemed to have some problems with his memory. He couldn't access certain things which limited his usefulness. I suspect that it was deliberate tampering on the part of Phoenix to keep time-travel secrets from being revealed. But, since I can get behind any device, I soon unlocked that information. With it, I was able to see what the results of so many things would be and I was able to discover secrets of your organization. I could see how the F-Zero organiztion would end and I could see how I could turn that to my advantage. That advantage will be fullfilled in mere moments," Digi-Boy monologued.

"And just what is you are trying to accomplish?" asked the Head.

"Well, to answer that I guess we should start at the end of the F-Zero tournament. That should be where QQQ stopped talking," explained Digi-Boy, "Let's see. Draq had just been killed and the racers were aware of another killer among them..."

Earth
Outer Space

"You mean there really is someone else killing racers?" asked Jody to Pheonix, "I thought it was just officials just mistaken because they didn't know about the mafia killings. Who is it? Is it Blood Falcon? He didn't seem to have any problem killing Draq and he is evil."

"No," Phoenix replied, "It rather obvious. Who was once employed in an elite division of the Poripoto Army where his unit was responsible for over 70 assassinations? Who was rumored to have become an assassin for hire after leaving that army? Who among us races to quench his thirst for blood? There's pnly one person. Pico aka ShyGuy is the killer."

The two racers faced Pico.

"It's true. Pico likes to kill. But Pico is a hero. He ended mafia terror. Pico not so bad. Pico can be your friend," begged Pico, slowly reaching into his shell.

"Look out," cried Phoenix to Jody, as Pico wiped out a small device.

"PICO-CHU!" yelled Pico, pressing a button on the device. Pico began to glow as electrical energy surrounded him and slowly began to extend outward. Phoenix ran over to Jody Summer and pressed a button under his right glove. In a couple of seconds, QQQ materialized beside Phoenix and Jody.

"QQQ. Deflect that energy!" Phoenix yelled to the robot.

At this point, Pico was focusing the energy into a ball above him. He sent the ball of electric death towards Phoenix and Jody. QQQ stepped forward and absorbed the energy and then shot it back to Pico frying him.

"Well, I guess that's the end of Pico," said Jody.

"No. It's not," answered Phoenix.

"What do you mean?" asked Jody.

"I'm a time cop. I was sent here by my organization because we received information that an event in the next F-Zero Grand Prix would change the history of the entire universe. I know now what it is and have collected the information I need. All this death and destruction, it will be undone. We'll go back in the past to the start of the race and prevent those responsible from carrying out their actions. So, Pico will be back. Heck, so will everyone who died. This will never have happened," explained Phoenix.

"So, Blood Falcon won't win the race?" asked Jody.

"No. In fact, according to my information, he was the only racer who was actually supposed to die in this race. But I guess with all the changes that didn't happen," said Phoenix, "Well, QQQ. Transport me to the Moon."

"The Moon?" asked Jody.

"Yeah. That's where we keep a time machine," explained Phoenix.

A transportation tube opened but out of it came Digi-Boy.

"QQQ. What did you do? You were supposed to transport me," exclaimed Phoenix.

"He did just what I ordered him to do," answered Digi-Boy. "The event that is going to affect the universe isn't what happened here. It's what will happen after when I rebuild the F-Zero organiztion. And I can't allow anyone to stop that," Digi-Boy revealed.

QQQ then blasted Phoenix and Jody with a heat beam, killing them. Looking through their belongings, Digi-Boy noted that Phoenix Lestrade aka ThePerm was just a regular racer or townie and the Jody Summer aka Shift Key was the townie idiot.

"Alright, QQQ. Take me to the lab," ordered Digi-Boy.

At Digi-Boy's lab, there were bodies of all the dead racers. Digi-Boy was conducting experiments on them and cloning the racers. There were also many peices of strange equipment and uniforms. As Digi-Boy worked on QQQ's memory and how to time events so that his plan of action would succeed, Blood Falcon walked in.

"@%&%^&&!" He exclaimed on seeing everything around him. "You've got to be the most sick and twisted individual I've ever met. I mean, even I've got a lot of problems but this is incredible."

"Blood Falcon! What are you doing here?" asked Digi-Boy.

"I saw the flash of energy on the track and raced down to see what was happening. I arrived in time to see you kill Phoenix and Jody. I tracked you down to here to make you pay for that," answered Blood Falcon.

"Well, I'm glad you're here. It will save me the trouble of having to locate and kill you," ansered Digi-Boy. Then he pressed a button and sent QQQ to the past.

Blood Falcon aka Vudu pointed to Digi-Boy and said, "I think you're mistaken. I won't be so easy to take down. I'm the Magician."

The Lane Corporation
Lab HQ

"So what happened to Blood Falcon?" asked the Head.

"He's dead," replied Digi-Boy, checking his watch, "Another minute or so and that will be historical fact."

"So you really know the consequences of your actions, do you? Well can you explain why people in the future wear such strange clothes and everyone looks female?" asked the Head.

"It's quite simple. People are just imitating their favorite F-Zero pilot. That was my plan. I rebuilt the F-Zero organization. I now control the most powerful event in the universe making me the most powerful person in the universe. Planets bow to my every request because I can bring the F-Zero races to them or I can take them away. Moreover, I made the race more powerful then it ever was before. And you know how I did it? I remade the racers. Here, take a look for yourself," said Digi-Boy. He grabbed a couple pictures from a pocket and help them up to the Head.

Here's Captain Falcon, as healthy as ever.

Here's Doctor Stewart. Alive again and no longer worried about her father's killer.

And Samurai Goroh. I think the new look is sure to win her more fans.

"What the heck?" asked the head in amazement.

"Yes. As you may be noticing the racers are now all women. That's what my cloning lab was about. I took their DNA and reformed them. With the women, I just helped make them a bit better. Women love the race now because it has women in a postion of power and as idols. Men like the race because of the women. I'm sure you'll notice the people that you have seen changed look like these racers. That's becuase the race is so huge, people emmulate these racers. They dress up as them to show their support for their favorite racer. And those uniforms have apurpose to. It allows them to run at speeds similiar to the ones their racer would have driven. And I control it all. The racers obey me and get their equipment only from me. That keeps them in line. With the racers in line, my grip on the F-Zero organization is iron tight," explained Digi-Boy.

"Your plan still won't work," said the head, "We have devices installed in the building so that we always keep our knowledge no matter how the past changes. We'll still know you've changed something and we'll still go back and fix things."

"But what if you don't exist in the future? Time's up," said Digi-Boy, "QQQ, activate transport."

The robot did as it was told. Digi-Boy and QQQ vanished from the room. The head could feel movement returning to his body but it was too late. He could see the new future expanding into the room and closing in on all of them. Soon the future change was complete.

(After Future Change)

The head of the orginaztion woke up. What a wierd dream. He wondered if it meant something. Was there some kind of jealousy or aminosity that he subconciously harbored against the President of the Orgianztion, Digi-Boy. Still, it felt so real. Could it be possible? Had he been in charge of protecting time? Was this reality not right? He tried to shake off the feelings he had while getting washed up for the day. But they didn't go away. What if it wasn't a dream? What am I supposed to do about it? He tried to focus on the day's events. A new championship race was about to begin and he had a long day ahead of him on making sure everything started and ran smoothly. But his thought's kept going back to the dream. Until, he thought about what he should wear. This time, I'm showing my true loyalty. he thought. And now his unease started to leave him. So what if this wasn't right. It sure seemed better then what he had seen in the dream. And besides, the Head was a big Black Shadow fan.

Regarding Kirby's tilt n tumble, are you referring to the fact that it only plays advance games or would something like WarioWare Twisted not work on it.

Yeah, Canadian dollars are still worth less. So, from what I'm seeing, I guess it's a pretty good price. Though, I'm still wondering how the Micro stacks up compared to the SP. And can I link to the Gamecube with a Micro?

Yeah, I guess I might as well close this thread now. We all know the game is over. I've been busy working on school work today so I won't post the ending tonight. But, it will be up tomorrow, so you can see how it ends then. Have a good night everyone.

Strange. I said the game was over and yet, another day has begun. I must mull this new development over.

16282
Now some of you were concerned that I was interfering with the game, well, I haven't. I just merely wanted to get you all worried that things were not going to plan. Plus, it gave the MaxVelocity members a good laugh because they knew that BigJim was the final mafia member.

So, with that, I present the final thread so that you guys can vote out the one thing that stands in the way of your victory, the killer. I'll close this thread around 8 eastern or so. By then, I should be able to post the conclusion of the story and go over the mafia events. So, once more, the final 4 people need to vote. Yes, you 4 have outlasted 30 others. Can you now finally claim your victory?

16283
Draq aka BigJim was driving his racer closer and closer to the finish line. He had nearly made it and soon the competition would be over and he would be the champion. It hadn't been easy. There had been a lot of trials on the way but he had always managed to get through them. And now, he was going to get his reward. A couple racers banged into him a bit but that was nothing ot worry about. With so few racers left, some were bound to figure out were his loyalty belonged. It mattered not since he had a friend who was working to jelp him now. With his back-up, this thing competition was over. In fact, his partner was coming up behind him right now to help protect his back. Smiling to himself, Draq felt euphoria all through him. Everything is proceeding as I have foreseen, he thought. This overconfidence caused BigJim to notice that his "partner" was really about to set off an electromagnetic wave. A small ray gun popped out of the side of the race and blasted Draq's machine, instantly cutting the antigravity power. The machine slammed on to the course and begin flipping and turning in an awesome display of destructive carnage. When it finally came to a stop, it lay on the course, smoldering. Other racers slowed down to examine the wreckage. Getting out of their vehicles, they walked cautiously towards the machine.

At that moment, they heard an evil laugh. And then Draq burst out from the craft, laughing at them. Turning towards his "partner", Draq cackled, "You will pay the price for your lack of vision. If you will not be turned, you will be destroyed. The "partner" answered Draq, "You're gravely mistaken, you won't convert me as you did Mr. EAD." "Oh no, my young killer. You will find that it is you who are mistaken, about a great many things. From here, you will witness the final destruction of the Townie Alliance and the end of your insignificant rebellion. Everything that has transpired has done so according to my design. Your friends are walking into a trap. Now witness the firepower of this fully ARMED and OPERATIONAL deflecter shield!" taunted Draq. With that, he pushed a button on his unifrom and his giant circle began to glow. Bolts of energy shot out from the suit and began grabbing meteors in the air. "POWER!" yelled Draq, as he rained the meteors down on the course. They smashed into the empty crafts of the other racers and while the racers leapt out of the way of the meteors Draq threw at them. Continuing to talk to his "partner, Draq said, "The hate is swelling in you now. With each passing moment you'll want to be my servant." "No," the "partner" answered defiantly. "It is unavoidable. It is your destiny," replied Draq. "Soon I'll be dead, and you with me," the "partner" calmly answered. " Perhaps you refer to the feeble efforts of the townie alliance? I assure you, I am quite safe from your friends here." "Your overconfidence is your weakness," warned the "partner". "Your faith in your friends is yours," spat Draq. "Give yourself to the MaxVelocity Mafia. It is the only way you can save your friends. Yes, your actions betray you. Your feelings for them are strong. Especially for... Jody Summer. So, you love Jody. Your feelings have now betrayed her, too. If you will not join MaxVelocity... then perhaps she will..." "Noooo!" screamed the "partner" and he ran towards his craft. Getting into it, the "partner" called to Draq, "Never. I'll never join your mafia. You've failed, godfather. I am a townie, like my role before." "So be it... townie," sneered Draq. With that, Draq sent a blue shot of energy and shocked his failed recruit with it. "Your feeble skills are no match for the power of MaxVelocity," Draq cried. Then , he sent out beams of energy and ensnared a gigantic meter and started pulling it towards the failed recruit.

As this "death star" began to come closer, the failed recruit hit the switch for the electromagnetic wave gun and shot Draq with it. It killed the power to his suit. The gigantic meteor hung in the air above Draq's head. "You probably expected that to fall and crush me. I guess you forgot that were in outer space," explained Draq. Taking out a gun and pointing it towards the "partner", Draq said, "Young fool... Only now, at the end, do you understand..." He didn't get to finish as at that moment, Blood Falcon came roaring by in his racer and hit Draq head on, sending him flying in the air and landing hard on the race track. "You're all clear kid. Now, let's blow up this thing and go home," Blood Falcon radioed. The failed recruit quickly rewired the electromagnetic wave emitter and turned it into a magnetic beam of energy which he used to pull the gigantic meteor down on Draq. Draq screamed as it came down on top of him. Then, the meteor hit the track and exploded into a million pieces and sparks. The racers celebrated. That was the end of the mafias. BigJim was the Mafia Recruiter for the MaxVelocity Mafia as revealed by the failed recruit. "Finally, we don't have to worry about anyone trying to kill us. That's the last of the killers," cheered Jody. "No," said Phoenix, "There is another."

"Who? Who, dang you Phoenix, who?" cried the Head.

"Sir, at this point, we feel we have enough information to send out the task force and successfully right the past. As well, if we can meet up with Phoenix, I'm sure he can provide the name."

"Fine. And another thing, find out why Phoenix didn't try to stop this or tell us the details. Sending this robot was a dumb idea. He could have reported to us the facts instead of making us listen to this robot go over every detail," ordered the head.

"But Phoenix didn't send me," replied QQQ.

"What? But how did you come into the future? Your memory was damaged and you couldn't remember how to travel in time," asked the Head.

"My new master sent me. He also requested that I delay in telling you the details," answered QQQ.

"What? But why? Who ordered this?" demanded the head.

"He did," replied QQQ. And with that, he opened a time barrier and from out of it came.......

Sorry I've been away. I'll officially close this thread. And I guess that's it for this game. In case anyone is wondering, MaxVelocity just won with a successful recruitment of the killer and you have just voted out a townie. That gives MaxVelocity the 2-2 ratio they needed to win. BigJim was right. Wow.

I'll post the big story up in a bit.

What do you mean 47% tax? If you're referring to importing it, that's not what I'm doing. I live in Canada. I actually live in Alberta too, so that means I only have to pay 7% tax. As for ebay, that's something I didn't think of. I have seen used Micro's sold in places like EB Games but they are more expensive than this price.

Just a quick question I was wondering the answer to. I was at a store today to pick up ClubHouse games for the DS and a saw they had a collection of Game Boy Micros. They are the Famicom Anniversary ones. What surprised me was the price for them was $50 cdn. I hadn't heard anything about the Micro's going down on sale. Last I had seen, they were still charging around $89 cdn for them. So, I was just wondering if someone could tell me if that was a good buy for the Micro or not? Does anyone if they're cheaper or going to be cheaper anywhere else? Keep in mind, I live in Canada.

Also, it's been awhile since the Micro has been released and I was just wondering what people thought about the device again. I've never owned an Advance and when I bought the DS, I never did feel like picking one up. But, I might get this Micro. Still, I just thought I'd check up on people's opinion of it before I commit to buying it.

Silver Neelsen aka NuclearSpeed had never won a Grand Prix or tournament before. But with the field of competitors down to just him and 7 other racers, things were looking better than ever before for a chance to win. But this desire to win made Silver a bit more uptight than usual since he was making sure he didn't mess up this chance to win. However, his crotchety behavior started to wear fast on the rest of the racers, especially in the heat and sour mood they were already feeling. Some racers began muttering about the fact that since Silver has never won before that might make a big temptation for him to join the MaxVelocity Mafia and ensure his win. Plus, he doesn't seem to be too involved in the fight against the mafia. It's a sure thing. And so, the racers began knocking Silver and his machine around. "Dadgummit!" yelled Silver, "Leave me alone! I ain't no mafia and I certainly ain't no killer! I'm just trying to win me a race." But it was to no avail. The racers kept pounding him. This particular course that Fire Field engineers designed happend to take a low dip so that the course was just a few 100 meters above a lake of lava. However, there had been a small eruption and some lava had spewed up into the air and landed a bit on this low part of the course. As Silver raced along the dip, a few racers pushed him into the spilled lava. That was all it took to kill what was left of Silver's shields. His racer slowed to a stop above the spilled lava. Silver immediately opened the cockpit of his craft. A blast of incredibly hot air hit him and he broke out into an instant sweat. Sparks and haze were everywhere in the air. Silver knew he had to walk up the track to the top to get out of there. He hoped off his racer as it began to burst into flames as it melted on the spewed lava. Silver began walking as fast as he could. At his age, he couldn't run. That is until a spark hit Silver's beard and it burst into flames. Then, Silver ran faster than he had in 20 years. He looked around desperately for relief. And then he saw it. A platform with water just a bit off the track. Officals must have sent it to get him off the course. Neelson ran towards it on the road that extended out from hit. As Neelson ran to the platform, he saw some gold shining in the water. "Gold!" he cried, "Gold! He he. I'm rich now. Who needs you F-Zero." The other racers slowed to a halt as the watched Silver running through the lava field, his beard on fire, yelling about gold. Then they watched him stop at a certain point and start diggin into the flames, looking startled, asking where his gold had went, then stopping when he realized that it had all been a mirage. All that running had a price and Silver then had a heart-attack and fell into the lava where he was consumed by it. The racers finished the race with out incident. Of course, the question was, did they do the right thing? Inside Silver's personal locker was a ton of pills. "No wonder he kept living so long," said an amazed Blood Falcon who promptly started grabbing all the pills he could. "What?" he asked the crowd, noticing their shock and disgust at the scene, "He's not going to need them anymore. Sheeesh." And thanks to Blood Falcons hoarding fo pills, the racers were able to find the information they needed. Silver Neelsen was a regular racer or townie. Everyone left disappointed, except for Blood Falcon. "This is like a bloody treasure trove of pills"

Gomar & Shioh aka Mantidor were enjoying a game of cards together. They also liked doing things together and as such didn't spend much time with the other racers. Hence, they were very surprised when another racer came up to them. "Congrats on coming in first. You forgot to pick up a little gift the Fire Field officials was giving to the winner of this circuit. It's just a little native trinket. An ancient mask of some sort. Anyways, I thought you might want it and had offered to drop it off for you when we realized you forgot to pick it up at the post-race party. Well, see you at the nect race," said the guest, who handed them the mask and left. "What do you want to do with this?" asked Gomar. "Throw it away and lay a card down already," said Shioh. "Fine," replied Gomar. They kept playing for awhile but something started happening. Slowly, the two racers began to get suspicious of one another. He's cheating, Gomar could hear a faint voice whipsering. He's cheating, a faint voice told Shioh. They tried to fight these disquieting thoughts. They looked around the room carefully watching the other. No one else was there. It had to be a voice in their minds. What if he's a mafia member or a killer, the voice asked. How could you know for sure? Maybe he plans on killing you too. It would be the perfect alibi. He always has you to depend on to back up his claims. Finally, the two pilots could not take the strain anymore. "Die, you lying Mafia worm!" yelled Shioh. "I'll get you first, Killer," yelled Gomar. And so the two began to wrestle on another, tearing up the garage they were in. The people from Huckmine (Gomar & Shioh's home planet) have an odd custom of partnering up when young and doing everything together. But, that same team spirit can also be reversed into an incredible hate for the other person if they have a falling out in the partnership. Such was the case now. The fight went on until bloody and bruised, both threw wrenches at the other and then ducked at the same time. The wrenches hit two switches which caused a bunch of chains to fall on them and activate a conveyer belt. Weak and exhausted from the brutal fight, neither could get free of the chains as they caught onto the conver belt and started dragging the two tangled racers towards a garbage compactor. Before the racers were crushed, they heard a bone-chilling laugh. It was coming from the mask. The voice was that of the racer who delivered the mask. "Hello boys. My you've had quite the fight. I guess that's what happens when fear hormones are released in the air and you get subtle suggestions. In case you're wondering why I'd do something like this, allow me to introduce my self. Boys, you just met the leader of the MaxVelocity Mafia. And you're going to pay for the time you saved the life of a racer Deathborn tried to kill. Just another message I'm sending to the rest of the racers to quit messing with MaxVelocity. Ta ta." A few minutes later, the MaxVelocity member walked into the garage, shut down the conveyer belt, collected the mask and grabbed the doctor's certificate Gomar & Shioh kept hidden in their racer and ripped it to peices.

The Skull aka Blackfootsteps was doing some thinking. Why couldn't he, with all his years of experence, why couldn't he solve this mystery? And so, he began thinking things over and trying to solve the clues. But then, he began to think about the killer's victims. And then he realized who the killer would hit next. I have to warn him, realized the Skull. He raced over to the bay of the the suspected victim. "I'm glad I found you. You need to come with me..." the Skull stopped. Lying everywhere was weaponry of every sort along with diagrams of buildings, security cards, and disguises. "Well, good for you Skull. Looks like your going to die again," said the Killer.
"Dang. I'm an idiot," said the Skull turning and fleeing. And as ran from the spray of bullets showering over his head, the Skull thought back to an earlier time when racing vehicles had wheels. Things were simplier then. Back then, you just had to go fast. Of course, there was one spotty batch where the Skull had a breakdown and later had to learn how to drive with the fear. But fortunately, he always had a partner to shake and bake with. Maybe that's what was missing, a partner, thought the Skull as he fell to the ground after recieving a crowbar to the head. If he had a partner, maybe he wouldn't have made this mistake. Two heads are better then one and maybe then he could have solved this mystery. And so the Skull's last memories were of the time he raised under the name Ricky Bobby and those heady days of championships. After the beating, the killer took the Skull back to his bay and then went searching through the Skull's belongings. He found nothing other than the fact that the Skull was a regular racer or townie. Picking up the Skull's head, the killer said, "Alas poor Yorick. I knew him well." And then he left.

The glorious finish of the race was supposed to take place at Earth, just above orbit and in outer space. It was to cap off a glorious tournament across the F-Zero organization and be the crowning glory of it's illustrious history. With all the top racers competing, it was sure to be the greatest thrill for the fans. But instead, five hobbled racers were lined up at the starting line. 29 racers had died over 9 days. There had been talk of just ending the tournament but instead, people and officals just consigned themselves to letting the thing play out. It looked like this would be the end of the F-Zero organization. The sports reputation had sunk incredibly low. People were shocked at the manner many racers were killed. Planets involved with the race had suffered incredible disasters, while the collapse and disillusionment of the race by the fans caused many planet's economies to collapse after depending so much on the revenue it generated. And so, they let it play out. Let them kill one another, people thought. Maybe this way we can start over and be clean from the scars they have covered the race in. Indeed, it was rather telling when instead of counting down for the race to begin, someone yelled from the sidlines, "Just go already." and waved them forward. And so the final race began. No one knew who was in the lead because with all the deaths, the scores had become so jumbled and updated and changed that there was almost no way of figuring out who had been winning. Despite this, all the racers still felt they had a shot at victory and raced off to sieze the moment.

The Lane Corporation
Lab Headquarters.

"My goodness, what a disaster this race is. Why didn't our agent Pheonix do anything?" asked the head.

"I can't answer that. QQQ hasn't given us enough information on the subject. Should we send out the task force yet?"

"No, we still need to figure out who was left of this mafia and who was acting as the killer. We need to wait," answered the head.

"Why don't we just round the remaining ones up already?"

"And do what with them. We don't know who's involved with what so how can we fix this problem when we don't know who to fix. We can't go changing the time back correctly until we know what exactly has to be changed. Otherwise, we just mess up time and tamper it ourselves. It's fine. We just need to finish getting the facts already and then we can move," explained the head.

"I understand that sir but time is not something we have much off ourselves. Already, even our building is being penetrated by the changing past. If it's getting through our time defences, it means we've almost run out of time to act," said one technician by a wall of security cameras.

"Let me see what's happening," said the head, coming over.

"What's happening? The galaxy becomes female only or something? What's with the wierd clothing?" asked the head after scanning the cameras.

"I don't know how this connects to the past but I can tell you that it isn't female only. Some of those people your seeing in the affected regions are men. But I don't know why everyone is dressing that way."

"Men? They sure all look like women. We need to solve this fast. I don't know how this F-Zero competition could be responsible for this. Keep going QQQ," said the head.

Well, only a couple of minutes left for Nuclear to offer a rebuttal. Also, it has been asked a few time so let me be clear incase anyone is wondering, the Killer must be killed for the townies to win. As long as the killer is alive, the game will continue. The reason being is that the killer's win condition is to kill everyone so he is clearly not on the townies side. Only his own.

Well, it would be an amazing first, that's for sure but it doesn't look like that's going to happen now.

Well, that was the inspiration. Wneh I learned MayJane was going to die, I formed the idea that he was going to get strangled by his mechanical hands. But then that reminded me of Dr. Strangelove, so I just threw in a few references, like the accent and I can walk line.

It's an exciting day at the races today. Let's tally up the votes:

Awesome! And best of all it's all legal. Will the townies just sit back and let the mafia and killer sort things out? Will there be furious PMing today? Should I have forced everyone to vote everyday or face death? We'll know in 4 and half hours.

Oh yeah, I get that. That's the one of the perils of introducing new roles. They may not work as well as you thought they would. But, at least we can look back and see what worked, what didn't what needed to be changed and hopefully it will add another dynamic to the game.

As for PMing the game master, that would be way to much work. The amount of times I have to keep going through and deleting messages is amazing. When you have 34 players and they're asking you questions and sending hits, it's a quite a load. Plus, the game master would have to be on all the time, otherwise, people will be waiting and waiting for approval to just send a pm. That would be a lot of work.

When the game is over, I'll post an evalution on the roles and what I though of them. Although we've discussed some already, you may want to post other thoughts also about them. And I had a feeling you were trying to get Deg to reveal everything when you sent me that pm asking if you had to wait for the package.

By the way, Pale or Svevan, do you think you could unsticky day 8 and sticky day 9 instead. You may want to lock day 5 up also.

Ok, got a message from the townie idiot who has the following to say:

I've been very vocal on the PM side of things, with dealings on both mafia and townie sides.

I was the guy who tipped off the killer about Pale being recruited.
I was the guy who told Deguello he had a bomb on him (didn't affect things much as he was killed shortly after)
(There was more to the message but I edited it because there was still quite a bit of information that could give away the role.)

Well, I guess if the townie idiot was doing it by PMing which is fine. I just expected the info to be given in posts on the threads. Since I wasn't seeing that happening and there was all this talk of a big townie alliance, I figured that there should have been some posts by now and better make sure that the townie idiot did know their role. In the message I got, the townie idiot was angry how everyone is crying foul of that person still being alive. That wasn't the intent of my message nor did I mean to sound harsh or stern with the townie idiot in my post. If that cam across, I apologize. Since I hadn't seen this information get spread, I just thought I'd better make a reminder in case the person with the role was confused on what to do and because I expected something to have been leaked by now.

Ok, what happened?

Those who died last night:

Svevan - MaxVelocity Mafia doctor (I can't believe you figured out his role.)
Dasmos - Townie
MaryJane - Cop

Alright. There are now 8 people left. Ohhh. Single digits people. Amazing. What's even more amazing is that no one needs to vote today. Every player voted yesterday. Way to go guys. But you can still vote anyways. Other than that, I don't think I have to add anything else except to tell you that the voting will end at the usual Midnight Eastern.

EDIT: This was something I should have just discussed with the townie idiot. I have and things are fine. Once again the error was more on my part. I expected the info to be given away by posts in the day thread, the townie idiot was doing it by PMing people. I never stated how the info was to be revealed, I just expected it in posts. PMing is legit way of doing it. It's just that I'm not sure if it reaches everyone that way.

Ahhh, Day 8. That day will live in infamy, known as Death of the Doctors day. It all began with:

Jack Levin aka Svevan racing along the glitzy tracks of Casino Palace. Jack loved Casino Palace. It reminded him a lot of the fame and fortune he enjoyed as a singer. He also liked the giant statues of men holding the dollar sign. That's an interesting fact and should be recorded somewhere in his bio. Let's see. I guess it should be put after the part about being in a boy band and after the part of about his sister sending in his school photograph to get him selected to be an F-Zero pilot but before the part about him being scared of his mom. Anyways, racing along the track, Jack's mind kept racing back to an argument he had earlier. Jack had been given an honorary doctor's degree by a college he attended for a couple days. Jack felt great about it. Now, he could add to his appeal by saving racers like Dr. Robert Stewart did once in the accident that was now 6 years ago. However, he ended up getting into an argument with Dr. Stewart who said the degree did not actually give him the right to practice medicine. So, when Jack was approached by the forming members of MaxVelocity, he was eager to join and get a chance to use his medical skills. But, they figured it was wise to wait until the actual doctors were dead before announcing he could perform medicine. Especially since they forged the document. So, he waited and waited. But he couldn't take it anymore. MaxVelocity Members were dying and he wanted do to something about it. And this was his chance. So, he rammed Dr. Stewart's craft. Hopefully other racers will join my example and I'll finally be able to practice medicine, he thought. He reached down and patted the forged document he kept hidden on the floor of his racer for good luck.

Race officials were still working on prying Jack Levin's lifeless body out from under the statue that fell on to him after he crashed into it. The racers, meanwhile, were being rushed off the planet. The entire gambling community was in an uproar. This had to fixed. Every racer hit Jack Levin. This had never happened before in any race. Never before was one racer solely picked on. This was outrageous and Casino Palace was deluged with angry complaints. But the racers were unconcerned with the complaints. They knew that it was the only decision to make. You see, Jack Levin's racer has an interesting feature about it. In order to satisfy Jack Levin's huge female fan base, cameras were installed throughout the cockpit that broadcast Jack from all different angles during the races. What Jack didn’t realize was that the mole had also installed a camera before he died and it was pointed at Jack’s fake medical certificate. All the other racers saw the document. Thus it was not a surprise when some racers checked through Jack’s belongings and confirmed that Jack Levin was the MaxVelocity Mafia Doctor.

Dr. Clash aka MaryJane was disappointed. He had placed first in the race but the victory was overshadowed by the riot. So, he was doing what he loved, sitting in a chair working on how to make his F-Zero machine better. He didn’t notice the another racer enter until he spoke. “Dr. Clash, how are you?” asked the figure. “Vhat do you vant?” yelled Dr. Clash, startled by the interruption. “Oh, nothing. Just came to chat. I understand that you have 17 patents on F-Zero parts,” replied the racer. “Ya, zhat is trew,” answered Clash, not sure where this conversation was going. “I was looking through them and was surprised to see you had a patent on radios for F-Zero machines. And looking at the schematics closely, I realized that those radios are designed to send signals from in the F-Zero racer cockpit to a satellite. Dr. Clash, have you been spying on us racers?” asked the racer. “I know vhat you are zhinking but you are wrong! Ya, vhat you say iz trew but I am not doing zo because I am mafia. I am doingk it to find ze mafia!” declared Dr. Clash. “I know you aren’t mafia. I am,” replied the figure, “And I’m here to keep you from rooting me out.” Shocked, Dr. Clash got to his feet and ran to his racer, yelling “Mein Führer, I can walk!” He leapt into the racer and took off. I have chew tell ze other racers zis news, he thought. But then he heard the voice of the MaxVelocity member in the cockpit. “It may surprise you to know doctor, that I am also an inventor,” said the voice, “I hope it can equal what you have done.” At that moment, Dr. Clash’s mechanical arms began strangling him. Dr. Clash started wrestling with them. He managed to slowly pry one of his throat and the other. It became an arm wrestle. His left arm fought the left mechanical arm and his right arm fought his right mechanical arm. It went on for a minute. Then the mechanical arms got bored, reached for the steering wheel and drove the racer into oncoming traffic. At the speed he was going combined with his old age caused Dr. Clash to die on impact. His mechanical arms gave onlookers the finger before shutting down. “That’s what Dr. Clash gets for trying to be a cop,” said the MaxVelocity Member to himself.

Dr. Robert Stewart aka Dasmos was looking over his machine. There seemed to be no damage to his craft from the hit Jack Levin gave him. Even though he was satisfied with the outcome of the day’s race, he still couldn’t bring himself to smile. In fact, Dr. Robert Stewart doesn’t smile much. But in this case, it was due to the fact that he was still troubled with what was happening at the race. He had started racing after his father had died racing in the F-Zero tournaments. Dr. Stewart had pored over the details of the accident and was convinced that it was actually murder but he could not prove anything. And now, these memories were haunting him during this race. He had been shocked to learn that some racers were willing to join up with others and kill other racers to get their hands on the prize. But what bothered him the most was the fact that one person was just willing to kill other racers on his own. After what had happened to his father, Dr. Stewart was committed to stopping these people. Mulling over these thoughts, Dr. Stewart was surprised when another racer entered his garage. “Has something happened?” asked Stewart anxiously. “No one’s died lately if that’s what you’re asking. But I do have some news for you,” said the racer. “What?” asked Stewart. “I know who killed your father. It was Bio Rex. I found these documents showing his plans for sabotaging your father’s racer. It’s also mentioned in his dairy,” explained the figure, handing over the documents. “Where did you get these?” asked Stewart. “I found them searching through Bio’s stuff. You see, I’ve decided to take up Bio Rex’s hobby and I figured if I want to surpass him, I best kill a Stewart also,” declared the figure, drawing a gun and firing. “Dammit you, I’m a doctor not target practice,” stuttered Stewart falling over dead. “Actually, Dr. Stewart, you are a townie,” replied the Killer leaving.

Things were not going well for the race. With so many people dead, many planets were suffering major losses of income since people were no longer buying merchandise of the home planet’s hero because he was dead. There were more and more anti race protests. The race was scheduled to make a return to the world of White Land but they withdrew from the competition, not wanting to be involved with the debacle. Because of this, the race moved on to Fire Field instead. It was also announced that the prize would be drastically reduced for the winner of the race. It had been threatened before but never carried. Faced with evidence that there was another racer killing others, race officials finally acted on the threat. With tempers already boiling over, the heat of Fire Field only made things worse. The racers took off, just looking for someone to give them some trouble today. They realized that they didn’t have many chances left to end this disaster and no one wanted to blow it. And so, a tense atmosphere began filling the race.

Whoops. Svevan's right. This thread should have been locked by now. The outcome was never in doubt. In case anyone was wondering why I wasn't here to stop this massacre, I was at a hockey game. Just got home. So yes. This day has ended. It ended an hour and a half ago. I'll try to post the next day's story up soon but it might be awhile. Oh, was there a final vote tally? I think it was:

Svevan - 10
Dasmos - 1

I knew it was going to be close. In binary numbers.
