A system update has been released for Wii U on the evening before launch day. 

The system update should include many of the touted features for Wii U, including the ability to play Wii games on the console, and transfer games and save files from Wii.

This update does not include Nintendo TVii, which will be included in a system update in December.

Word is that the update is over 1GB and takes about an hour.

and other updates for specific games such as CoD


so be prepared to update for close to 2hrs depending on what you plan on doing with your Wii U right out of the box.

if it takes about an hour for the updates then I'm screwed because it's gonna take twice that considering mine won't download..

I'm stuck at 50%, keeps disconnecting

I did it last night in about 45 minutes. I took another 10 minutes to install.

Zombi U and Netflix did their own mini updates which I could skip.

Wii system transfer also took about a 45 minutes

i've been trying to do this since noon, i keep getting disconnected from the server. I'm at about 80% now..

nvermind, that download bar completed only for the gamepad to read "updating" and it's currently at 10%..
