TalkBack / Re: I Heart 2D Games

Okay then. I can understand the graphics part, comparing them to something like Wario land Shake it or even Yoshi's island it really doesn't stand up. And the future paper mario games haven't improved much.. but still. I try to look at games like a whole, and let the overall playthrough of a game outweigh the latter. If you think it's trying to insult your intelligence, I think that would be the least of your worries.

Well the thing about that is, he basically attacked my favorite game paper mario a little while back, calling it "Fischer Price's First RPG for Babies". I got defensive about it and attacked back, but apparently he hated it just for the reason of it having graphics that looked colorful and sunny. It makes me confused when he says contradicting things like how great Yoshi's Island was with it's "stunning aesthetics".

Did he hate the rpg elements? The badge system? I just want to hear his argument.

...Quick question Zach. I thought you hated anything with bright colors and sunshine. What's the difference between Yoshi's Island and the way Paper Mario looks?

Noone even got what I said. I'm talking about that the ps1 games had the best gameplay and should be kept so with the normal looking Spyro in future games. Not something that looks like it has half a brain.

*Caution* Lots of hate below. Sorry about that :(  Reached a breaking point and stuff. Again.

Dammit dammit dammit I am tired of fucking Skylanders!!! I have been tolerating horrible Spyro game after horrible Spyro game since the "Legend of" series and the Dragonfly blasphemy, but there is a limit as to how much I tolerate video game companies constantly insulting my third favorite video game series ever. And I don't care how fun the game is, or how many useless characters there are. When you make a beloved video game icon LOOK like THAT, making today's generations remember him as looking like THAT, I mean damn!! They couldn't make Spyro look any more GAY. I'm serious. His eyes are OFF CENTER for Christ's sake! Wouldn't anyone who enjoyed the Playstation 1 Spyro games as much as I did be just as pissed off? Or does everyone give about as much a **** about Spyro as Crash Bandicoot nowadays? And I enjoyed those games too. All I'm saying is, they're taking a random concept, a random video game, and slapping Spyro on the front. OOPS, scratch that. Some elf is on the front instead. If this isn't an attempt to humiliate Spyro forever, I don't know what is.

..I wonder what exactly made Sony forget what the roots of video games are. It's like they forgot the PS1 and 2 existed after making the PS3.

I'm not against this game in particular. But does anyone else hate the 3DS commercials with those 4 stupid guys doing stupid **** with their handhelds? The red headed one is the worst, most annoying actor. I guess the commercial's only in the US as far as I know. I'm a Floridian :D

But my point is, Nintendo needs to make the 3DS look alot cooler than they are making it look at the moment. Pairing it up with d bags like those guys is only asking for a mediocre future with an incredibly lame sense of humor. I'm just calling it as I see it. In other words, TOO MAINSTREAM.

OH my god. I just finished playing the PS3 version of Sonic Generations. Talk about a great Sonic game. I can't believe the game was only 40 dollars. BUT I guess that's why there are just 3 areas. Other than that, this game is a marvel. It even had Chemical Plant! MAN did it have Chemical Plant!

Those were the worst of the mainline games, and I know I am not alone in that opinion.
Yeah, it gets a lot of hate but why exactly..? Please enlighten me. I have fond memories of playing Pokémon Sapphire and the 3rd gen. games didn't have any huge flaws that I can think of.

I think it's because of the exploration part of the games. While it's always been about getting to the next area, to me, it was a little excessive in terms of finding the right path, and I could see why some people would be annoyed. You have to surf so much in the games to top that off. And another thing could be that the type match ups were a little too often stacked against the player. So, basically, they're just as good as the other games to me. Just a little harder.

Thank god. I can get this in time for my birthday!

..And am I the only one on this site that likes Tekken?

uh... Neal? What exactly in Mutant Mudds appeals to you? It just looks so friggin lame! Like a desperate attempt to make a platformer. And failing at it. ..unless it's in 3d or something, I don't see it. It seems more annoying than fun.

You know why people like Wario Land on Virtual Boy? Yea, that. You do jump between the foreground and the background, so 3D is used in fun ways.

From what I played back at E3, it's a fun, nostalgic platformer. Do I think it's going to be Super Meat Boy? No, but I expect to have a ton of fun with it.

I also love platformers. I don't really have any idea what looks lame about this game...

I dunno. Sometimes I just nit pick at games. But I have kinda made it a habit. I hope that maybe I'll design a game in the future. I have alot of different ideas iv'e saved up over time.

Hey all, first off I wanna say that I actually really enjoyed Sonic Colors. It was a really well done game. I do, however, stand by my opinion that Sonic and the Black Knight along with Secret Rings, weren't done well. But I'm not here to bash Sonic. I was a huge fan for as long as I can remember and I'm happy to see him in another great game.

There isn't a Chemical Plant level in the 3DS game, I'm sorry SilverQuilava. . .

There are 11 levels with 7 of them being traditional race to the finish levels split up between the two Sonics, giving a grand total of 14 "traditional" levels.

And there are no gyro controls, sorry Ceric. . .

That's too bad. Oh well, hopefully the ps3 version will have it, and I'll remember all those times going at full speed down into the Chemical plant on S2 and hearing that catchy as hell song.

My only regret is that it's the Sacred Stones instead of just Fire Emblem for gba. "Fire Emblem" was at least a little better than Sacred Stones.

...and not one pokemon game? I know my username has quilava in it, but still, not even firered? I'm still borrowing my cousin's copy. maybe it'l be available in the future..

And is chemical plant from sonic 2 on SG3D? With a great remix to the song and everything? If it is, it has to be on the ps3 version.

I don't see why anyone would have had any doubts from the beginning. As soon as I heard and learned what the 3ds could do, I saw all of this coming.

Too many people just can't wait to watch Nintendo fall so that they can say they "called it" years ago.  Thus, pretty much any chink in Nintendo's armor will get blown to the proportions you acknowledged.  Sadly, this means even if the 3DS consistently out-paces the DS for five years, every article will still begin with "despite a disappointing start."  Funny PS3 articles don't get written like that.  It was usually always "this is the year of the PS3! For reals this time!"

Can't wait to see what will be written about the 3DS once Kid Icarus, MGS and RE Revelations have had some time at market =P
It's like I've said before, everything is just TOO mainstream nowadays! Everyone is so indulgent in the entertainment industry that it is affecting the Video game industry and community TOO MUCH. Very soon, too soon in fact, video games are going to be swallowed up by movies, advertisement, mediocrity, and just ANNOYANCE. I know it's a little off topic, but I think this is an issue that people really should be aware of and need to eventually do something about. This is becoming an all too real problem. I mean, wouldn't seeing Donkey's face on nintendo eshop for two months (and counting) annoy the stuffing out of you too?

TalkBack / Re: Rayman Origins Review
« on: December 11, 2011, 10:34:58 PM »
I really think the Rabbids were done-in just like the music genre.  They just started with annual or near-annual releases and ran it in to the ground.  They were still good ideas and clever in reasonable doses but they just made it too much.

Really, even releasing some "traditional" Rayman games in between might have been enough to cleanse the pallet.  But no, they just forgot about Rayman for so long.

Hopefully Origins will kick start a new era of peaceful coexistence between the pillars of the franchise =)

Hell yeah to that man! =D
