General Gaming / RE: Xbox 360 Elite
« on: March 28, 2007, 05:45:21 AM »
I have had the Premium system for a while.  The price for ultimate is pretty damn high.  But then again, so are all the other addons etc.  The 360 makes a great media center, and I bet the ultimate does an even more fantastic job of that, but that is still way too much imo.

My lite is still fine.  I use it frequently and I got it at launch, so maybe I am lucky.

I have just been posting here for quite a number of years off and on, so it's a comfortable place to stop in.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: 4GIG HardDive, Anybody got one?
« on: June 21, 2006, 11:46:01 PM »
After googling a review that stated that the player didn't fully function when he got it, I got a bit nervious about it.  I'd need to see some nice reviews before even thinking about buying that.

This stuff is just getting so fun to read.  The games industry was really starting to get boring for me.

Eh, my Nano cost the same and I consider it far more useful.  Interesting to say the least though.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Virtual Console : 60fps on the N64?
« on: May 28, 2006, 04:02:19 PM »
Developers might have assumed we would just play the game on the console it was made on.  Evidently they underestimated the amount of nestalgia and the fact that everyone would get used to a higher FPS.  Frankly, not surprising.

And talking about HL is useless, PC games in that era were not frame-based, it's a different argument.  They are also designed to be modded, updated, etc.

EDIT:Personally, I'd rather they put all their resources into making new games rather than making a 3rd way to play Mario 64 and Zelda games.

Hmmm, interesting how everyone is so quick to call people stupid for not knowing that much about something that they just don't care as much about.  I am sure if I were talking about almost any sport, I'd sound like a total moron, just because I don't care that much about them.  They entertain me, but I don't care about  them much.  And everyone wonders why gamers tend to be seen as elitists...

But regardless of that fact, MS is using underhanded tactics to sell the system, just like everyone else.  Hell, even Nintendo announces enormous goals that are always scaled back.

Well that article is a waste.  Something written that poorly really doesn't warrent discussion or worry.

I am thinking it is all local.  Game Share would just be the single cart play.

General Gaming / RE: Am I the only one disappointed with the XBox 360?
« on: November 22, 2005, 07:51:52 PM »
I actually find sound to be more important these days than graphics.  As long as they don't bother my eyes and the framerate is up to par, then I prefer very high quality, detailed sound.  In Doom 3, it was the sound that made it for me, far more than the graphics(which is another debate shhh uglydot).  I am quite happy to hear that the 360 has excellent sound capabilities.

The only thing that ever excited me was Xbox Live.  I thought they would have pushed that harder than graphics.  Since it will be a long time until we have a transition ala the SNES ->n64.  Graphics are in fact getting far more detailed, but it comes out in things like lighting and texturing, nice smooth surfaces, AA, etc.  They are cool things to see, and can be brought into gameplay, but the designers need to take that into account.  If there are just extra realistic shadows just thrown in that don't help you at all, such as maybe spotting an enemy before he comes around the corner, it's a waste.  It doesn't provide more immersion.

So I guess I am not really dissapointed in the Xbox, hell, it's been out on freakin day.  I will wait for the games to come out to really form an oppinion on it.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: 3rd Party Support Already Starting to Look Up
« on: November 22, 2005, 11:10:28 AM »
Man, I can't remember the last time I used force feedback in a game.  I could care less if they included it at all.

Although had you asked me this shortly after Starfox 64 came out, I would have claimed that no game should come without force-feedback, hah.

I just picked up a Genesis III at a Toyworks right before they liquidated the stock.  Cost something like 15 bucks and works great.  Just not with my 32x

I must say, as much as I love this game.  And playing on line is wonderful.  And the graphics, and the variety in maps, and just everything.  After playing DD, I am freakin awful with this D-Pad.  It makes me sad D=.

That would be horrible.
