Woooooo!! A bit sooner than expected but looking forward to it. Just wish it could have been one hour later. That would have been perfect timing for me to be home for it. Oh well. Can't wait to see all the new and major titles Nintendo has planned for the 3DS. Maybe Capcom will join in with some Phoenix Wright goodness.

I wouldn't be surprised if there's still one more game to reveal for the year. My guess is something for early December, though I have no idea what it might be.

I'm hoping that they detail the first content update for Super Mario Maker 2, which will hopefully finally include friend play.

I could maybe see one last batch of Nintendo Selects Titles for the 3DS. This is basically the 3DS's last Christmas in any kind of retail setting and it would make sense to give it one last push.

SNES games for Switch online should finally be announced.  The data for them was already hacked a long time ago and it's the one year anniversary of Switch Online so it makes sense Nintendo would have something like them ready for people to resubscribe.

I wouldn't be surprised though if they introduce different tiers though.  Like it's $20 for NES games right now, so it'll be $25 if you want SNES games which would make it likely they'll charge $30 for N64 games someday as well.

I'm not so sure. EBGames no longer has a section for 3DS games. It is Switch only now. Even some Best Buy's seem to have cleared away shelf space for 3DS games. It may be too late to introduce some final Select titles for the system.

I mostly mean for Black Friday. Where I live the 3DS still generally has a tiny bit of shelf space it's holding onto for dear life. It's not much but it's enough for a few select titles.

They could still bring down the prices of digital games on 3DS.

The last batch of Nintendo Selects for the Wii was in 2016, so you just never know what Nintendo might do there. That said, I don't think Nintendo Selects titles have been announced in Directs before. But I hope there is another batch at some point, since there are still a few Nintendo titles for 3DS I don't yet have.

It's not like there's a shortage of 3DS games that came out later in the 3DS's life that didn't get the attention they deserved. Stuff like Ever Oasis, Monster Hunter Stories, and pretty much everything that came out after the Switch.

Wow, what a way to open the Nintendo Direct.

The graphics in The Return of the Obra Din look great.

Stealth drop of Banjo-Kazooie later today!

Terry Bogard announced for Smash and more DLC fighters. Just take all of my monies.

There were some genuinely great announcements in this one: TMS getting the much-needed Switch port to ditch the tacked-on GamePad nonsense; Deadly Premonition 2; Obra Dinn; Nintendo wanting more Smash DLC money; etc.

... TMS getting the much-needed Switch port to ditch the tacked-on GamePad nonsense; ...

I feel kind of bummed out that Nintendo is porting literally everything to Switch. I get why they do it from a financial point of view, obviously, but most of their past consoles didn't get intentionally obsoleted this way and somehow it makes the Wii U feel less special. (At the same time, it also doesn't do anything to make me want to upgrade, since so many of the best games on Switch are ones I already own...)

Yeah, but TMS REALLY needed a port that ditched the tacked-on Gamepad nonsense that caused the game to interrupt your gameplay every 5 seconds so Nintendo could show off the in-game Twitter feed. I never finished the game because of that.

I wanted to ask what this was when you mentioned it in your previous post because I was too lazy to look it up. Yeah, that sounds dumb. I wonder if it’ll still be in the game somehow.

I'm sure the in-game Twitter feed will be in there, but it'll probably just be a menu item you can just pull up rather than have to switch screens and tap on screens to scroll through feeds. And maybe...MAYBE they won't stop the game entirely every 5 seconds to make you check it.

HOLY ****! Xenoblade 1 remaster on Switch! YES!

You know, Nintendo, if you'd like to just announce that every remaining Wii U game is coming to Switch, I'd gladly get rid of my Wii U console entirely. I just need Woolly World and 3D World before I no longer have any physical Switch games.

Yeah, I mean I know Nintendo have always been one to pull from their back catalogue a lot, but it's never been as bad as this. Makes the Wii U feel more like a con or a sleight, and the Switch still doesn't have enough of its own identity.

I'm now kind of curious which system has more: Wii U ports on Switch, or SNES ports on GBA.

Switch is just Nintendo’s JK LOL do-over of Wii U. I still wouldn’t trade-sell my Wii U. It’s a nice bit of history to own.

The only other port I’d buy at this point is The Wind Waker HD. I’m surprised I’ve been so disciplined with not buying ports of Wii U games I already own. I only bought Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze.

My fondest memory of the Wii U was completing TMS.  I don't know why that game specifically grabbed me but it did.  There is a weird selfish part of me that's upset that my Wii U is a little less essential with it being ported.  There was something special about being part of the exclusive TMS "scene" if you will.  But it's obviously for the best for this game to get the recognition it deserves by getting a release on a more popular system.  It's too nice of a game to hide away.

Though with Nintendo making the Wii U retroactively the most unnecessary system to own of all time I am rather surprised that the original Xenoblade is being ported and not the Wii U exclusive Xenoblade Chronicles X.  That seemed like a no brainer port to me.

I'm now kind of curious which system has more: Wii U ports on Switch, or SNES ports on GBA.

If you look at the first party GBA titles for 2002 the only non-port game Nintendo released that year was Metroid Fusion.  Though let's not forget a good sized period of time where it seemed that the purpose of the Wii was to release "New Play Control" versions of Gamecube games.  If a Nintendo system flops expect a TON of ports on the system to follow... unless the flopped system is the Virtual Boy in which case everything gets buried forever even when a later system has 3D as a feature.

I haven't bought any of the ports of games I own. I think the only port I bought was Rayman Legends which I didn't get for Wii U.

There are only a few of Nintendo's Wii U games I didn't buy, and of those I think the only port I'd like to see is Twilight Princess HD. But that's still a game I've played before so it's no big deal.

I had specific reasons. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe included Battle Mode. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze vastly improved load times. I would have bought Bayonetta 1-2-Witch just to support the character, but out of principle, I can’t sanction that nonsense of a physical release compilation being part download.
Though with Nintendo making the Wii U retroactively the most unnecessary system to own of all time I am rather surprised that the original Xenoblade is being ported and not the Wii U exclusive Xenoblade Chronicles X.  That seemed like a no brainer port to me.
It’s probably only a matter of time.
