I've got a spare (Nintendo Item)Yoshi Egg if anyone wants one!

Do you still have it? I could give you a Hero's Cap for it. :)

Yep! I'll keep it for you!

Hi guys, couple of days in. Really enjoying the game, especially loving the quick swap of equipment with the dpad. Brilliant.

I went through the thread and added most everyone (I think!) I've got cherries (and hopefully apples soon)  in my town. Hopefully my Aussie time zone will help a few of you insomniacs.

As far as the Nintendo Direct goes, the way he made it sound was that it will be the same exact one Japan got, but with English subtitles.

That wouldn't surprise me and I wouldn't mind that at all, but Animal Crossing always has great cultural specific items and events for each region and I'd to hear about that stuff.

Not in Australia. We didn't even get Southern Hemisphere weather settings. At least pre-Wii, I didn't play that version.

Surely the analog stick position issue could be solved simply. Release 2 models of the controller. You prefer Dualshock setup, buy that one. You want a 360 position, there's a model that has the left analog stick where the dpad is currently. Best of both worlds.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: E3 2012 Press Conferences - Day 2: Nintendo
« on: June 05, 2012, 08:38:05 PM »
1. I'm never staying up to the wee hours to watch an E3 conference again.
2. All 3 were dull affairs.
3. Usher, the Potter wonderbook...I'm not sure what was worse.
4. When the first joke goes down like a lead balloon remove all future joke attempts.
5. Nintendo received perfunctory applause at the conclusion, maybe they need to dish out free swag for the shills to lap up.
6. I would actually welcome a Nintendo move to third party. Keep making handhelds, and forget consoles.

Continue creating topics in the hope that one of said topics will have an appropriate title?

The environments, they're just empty looking. I don't think there's a great leap over DQVIII, a game that had the same problem. Give me Metroid Prime-detailed environments anyday.

Vita is getting a sequel to Little King's Story.

I am therefore getting a Vita.

LKS was one of my favourite games of this generation. A sequel is great news.

The 3DS has been a flop because Nintendo charged an arm and a leg for a system that has nothing but a few tech demos and N64 ports.  It has not sold because based on the current library it's a waste of money.  It is no more complicated than that.

Interestingly, this same comment could be perfectly applied to the original DS launch 'period' as well.

TalkBack / Re: New 3DS Add-On in the Works? Redesign on the Way?

Sony waited for PS Vita to add a second analogue stick. I can't see Nintendo adding a second slide pad mid-generation.

However, as someone who has played, or make that attempted to play, Monster Hunter on PSP it is nigh impossible without a second analogue stick. I think it was Ceric who mentioned earlier the PSP claw control technique, it's horrible and shouldn't be forced on anyone. I think Nintendo were short sighted by not including a second slide pad from the get go. Monster Hunter = Japanese sales, why not make the system as MH-friendly as possible?

Ok but my wii is just broken

Is it under warranty? Perhaps call Nintendo and see whether they will repair it before you go out and buy a second Wii.

I hate to say it, but if the memory is corrupted then maybe the data is ruined and gone forever. That's one thing I hate about DLC in general because unlike physical media you can end up losing stuff even if you take good care of it.

A unified online account would go someway to ameliorate this problem.

So if Europe is getting these, do you think Australia will as well?

I'd say (hope) yes. But, either way, the UK/ european version will work fine on the Aussie Wii.

@Luigi Dude

I wonder how big a component the RRoD problem was of those losses. It had to be significant.

Apparently Vita is Region Free
http://psp.ign.com/articles/117/1174783p1.html
Quote
In a PlayStation Vita session for European and Australian press at E3 today, Michael Denny, Sony's Vice President of Sony Worldwide Studios Europe, confirmed that - to the best of his knowledge - Vita would be region free.
Well that's a kick in the pants to Nintendo.

It should be a wakeup call. Great work, Sony. It extends to the treatment of Europe and Australia. We're like a desert outpost, such is the disdain from Nintendo. Copy Sony for once: region free games, region locked online store. It can't be that hard. Oh and try to release games day and date worldwide, an act of which Sony and MS seem capable. Don't blame the European languages, here's a hint, get those translations done in parallel with the Japanese to English work.

I hope that there isn't going to have to be a need to change right hand position to get from the c-stick to the face buttons. Joystiq said it was awkward.

Other places have said it feels fine, so this is a shame.

On another note does the interview with the Irrational Games guy suggest Bioshock Infinite for WiiU?

The fact sheet makes it seem like only one screen controller can be connected, and multiplayer games will use Wiimotes. I guess we'll have to wait until later to find out if that's true.

I'm concerned about this. I think you're right. I guess that compromises the ability to enjoy online gaming with a local guest.

Are circle pads regular analog sticks or 3ds esque slide pads?

That TV is awesome. No more split screen!
