Nintendo Reveals Several New 3DS eShop Titles
« on: February 14, 2013, 11:56:52 AM »

A new Mario and Donkey Kong, a Dillon's Rolling Western sequel, and more!

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/33309

Multiple new 3DS eShop titles were announced during today's Nintendo Direct presentation.

A new entry in the Mario vs. Donkey Kong series was shown, called Mario and Donkey Kong: Minis on the Move. This title differs from previous entries in the series, as the gameplay now takes place in full 3D. The game also allows players to create their own levels. Nintendo says this game will arrive soon.

The hit eShop title Dillon's Rolling Western also gets a sequel, called Dillon's Rolling Western: The Last Ranger. This new entry in the series allows Dillon to recruit allies and requires players to protect a moving train in each stage. Dillon's Rolling Western: The Last Ranger hits the 3DS eShop on April 11 in North America.

The last new eShop title announced is a game known as Kersploosh!. Kersploosh! puts the player in control of various falling objects that have been thrown in a well. The objective is to avoid different obstacles and reach the bottom of the well in order to make a "Kerploosh!" sound. Kersploosh! will be available on the 3DS eShop on March 7 in North America.

Additionally Game Freak's highly anticipated 3DS eShop title HarmoKnight has been given a release date of March 28 in North America, with a free demo to be available on March 14.

I'm really excited for Minis March, I absolutely loved the DSi game and the new 3D take on it looks like a lot of fun.  I'm also really excited for HarmoKnight  and Kersploosh, both seem quirky and fun to play.  I haven't played the original Dillon's Rolling Western, but it's cool it's getting a sequel. I wonder if the original is one of the games getting a discount on the eShop?

Wait the next Mario vs DK will let you create your own levels? I didn't see that. That's awesome! Peaked my interested for sure on that.

Harmoknight also looks like a blast to play. At least the 3DS eshop is going to see some life, VC maybe not as much. Now just need to put some life into the Wii U eshop. At least Wii U has Lego and MONSTER HUNTER for next month!

Solid Nintendo Direct for sure.

I'm pretty sure all the Mario vs. DK games have let you make your own levels (though I'm sure TJ Spyke will point out if I'm wrong).

Mario vs. DK and Kerploosh are definite buys, and I'll need to play the Harmoknight demo, as I have no idea what that is apart from everyone gushing over it. I bought the first Dillon's Rolling Western but I don't think I've actually played that, so I guess I should.

I am not gonna check to see if they all do, but March of the Minis (the DSiWare one) does. I never use it, but it's there.

I think all the Mario vs. DK games let you make your own levels except the original version. I have read that there is a level editor in the code, but it wasn't finished in time or something.

The original GBA version doesn't have a level creator. This is the about the only one I've played though, I also played the DSiWare game some but don't really remember it. I think every other version has one, though.

DWR was a "hit" title?  I thought it was pretty universally panned...

It being a hit in terms of sales would explain why there's another one despite that.

Will the Kersploosh review contain references to Timmy O'Toole or "We're Sending Our Love Down The Well"?

Also, disappointed that I'm not playing HarmoKnight right now, but at least I can clear the calendar for 28 March. (Man, Luigi's Mansion, possibly Pandora's Tower and HarmoKnight in the same week... be still, my weeping wallet.)

Kersploosh is without a doubt the best name for a game in the history of the universe. It's just so much fun to say.
By comparison, the European name of 'Splash or Crash' isn't nearly as much fun. It sounds like a cheaply made Wipeout knock off.

Nope:

What is it with random renaming between regions?

They're still doing it, does this really help?

Yeah, it's really dumb. It's the opposite of helpful in that it actually squanders marketing and contributes to a lack of name recognition.

One thing that I will give Nintendo credit for though is that if you search for a game using the North American name in the European eShop is still directs you to the correct game. I guess that's the least they could do, but I'm still grateful for it.

Kersploosh sounds awesome.  It may be the best of all the games announced today, though I have no idea what HarmoKnight is, so I can't talk about that one.

From what I understand (most of which was gleaned mostly from listening to 8-4 Play) it's a rhythm game in the vein of Bit.Trip Runner. That's perhaps a crude comparison but having not played the game that's the most apt connection I could make.

I'm looking forward to it.

The 3DS eShop is really gaining some strong momentum now. I'm interested in all four of these games (even the Dillon's Rolling Western sequel - I never played the original and I know it wasn't especially well thought of, but the potential is there for a better game to spawn out of those mechanics.)

Naw mang, Chris Kohler says HarmoKnight is the one you want. Unless you want all of them, in which case more power to ya.

Correct, James Turner.

Wow Turner went from new artist in the company to lead designer (I assume you mean art lead and not game designer) in two years? Well done, old bean. Theres gotta be a lot of artists there to create so many imaginary animals year after year.
