Title: VC Friday continuous thread
Post by: KDR_11k on February 08, 2007, 09:18:45 PM
People wanted me to keep these all in one thread so okay, here you go.

This week brings us three warriors from far-off lands:

Super Mario World (SNES, 800)
Zelda 2: Adventure of Link (NES, 500)
Vigilante (Turbografx, 600)

I've got SMW and Z2 already on other systems.

"Zelda 2: Adventure of Link (NES, 500)" Lucky bastards. I want this game more than any other game that has a high chance of appearing in the VC, except for games that I still want that have a really low chance of coming to the VC.

I second this motion.  Reggie name is now taken.  Actually I need to find out who is actually in-charge of the USA VC games.  (Maybe some one with access to the Nintendo Press page could find out and possibly interview them because we all want to know whats upt. *HINT**HINT*)

Friday 16th of Feb:

NES
Excitebike
Kirby's Adventure

SNES
R-Type III The Third Lightning

Ooh, they get Excitebike first too.  Very strange.  It's starting to seem like every region got access to a whole bunch of games up front and it's been up to them what order to release them in.

Yeah it must be, as we haven't gotten Kid Icarus yet.

I have to mention that blackfootsteps's list is incomplete. Europe also received New Adventure Island (Turbografx, 600).

For today, NoE grants us the magic of:

Kid Icarus (NES, 500)
Ocarina of Time (N64, 1000)

I already got the latter with Wind Waker and don't intend to get the former (cheap difficulty paired with stupid respawn rules is not something I like and considering how many didn't get past 1-3 I don't want to waste my money on this).

Yup dead franchise.  But I wouldn't mind a Metroid Prime clone.  (incidentally, Metroid Prime is a Zelda clone -- it had to work in 3D SOMEHOW)

Don't worry, that's the NES TMNT, not the arcade one.

BTW, shouldn't it be TMHT?

What a craptastic update. Wonderboy in Monster World's been confirmed for PAL VC, so that'll hit sometime soon (I guess), that'll make up for all these past weeks of poo.

I know it's the orignal TMNT for NES not TMNT 2 which is the arcade game "redone."  Thats the one I want to actually be able to sit down and sink enough time in it to beat it. (With all its pseudo weirdness.)

People started updating it early, the games come out in Germany a few hours after they arrive in the UK (also I was away until about 15:00 and my Wii isn't plugged into the TV yet since we've been on vacation and I didn't find any need to so so since then). 5th April was on the NWR front page already.

Any other people in PAL land downloaded Super Mario Bros? I'm disgusted at how terrible it is, it runs x2 the speed it should (making the music sound like CRAP) and there's some random graphical glitches. Biggest waste of money i've ever spent, why the hell aren't Nintendo fixing this? It's THE game for VC.

I have downloaded and been playing Wonder Boy in Monster World for awhile.

The game is fun, but has its flaws.

It feels most like Zelda 2's Side Scrolling levels.  In some ways it is more polished, and others less polished.  The game isn't overly hard, but it does have a slightly unforgiving collision detection, and its shield isn't as easy to use as you would hope.

Overall though, the spirit of the game is great, and the game is fun.

Kirby's Dream Course (SNES, 800)
Bloody Wolf (TG, 600)

Seems they can't be bothered to get even 3 games a week now that they're past 100... Or maybe they skipped some games for Germany since ratings on games apply to online sales as well and Nintendo can't verify the buyer's age... Naah, knowing NoE they'd just skip those games completely.

KDR:  I know the release of actual Wii games sucks in Europe, but your Virtual Console game releases are awesome.

You guys almost get everything before we do in the US.

Right now you have one of my favorite games from the SNES era Kirby's Dream Course.  I rented that game like 2 times in a row and just played that game to death.  It is tons of fun and a nice quirky golf game that truly feels like putt putt golf and kirby blended together perfectly.

I always wanted a sequel to that game.

I tried it once and hated it because your lives are limited and you only get a fixed number of moves.
Title: RE:VC Friday (Europe) continuous thread
Post by: Spak-Spang on June 29, 2007, 10:12:37 AM
I remember the problems with limited moves and lives...but in way (at least to me) that was part of the charm of the game.

It was one part Putt Putt.
one part Kirby Game. (Defeating the enemies on the field.)
one part Puzzle Game. (Time your hits to attack enemies, use power ups wisely, and make par in time)

The game truly was a great genre blending game...and I will welcome its return.

Complete list:

Mario's Super Picross* (SNES, 900)
Neutopia II (TG, 600)
Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels* (600, NES)

*= The game is marked by a sun or star-like icon.

Only Lost Levels is marked as "available only for a short time". Combined with the price I'd say NoE was worried they might look sane.

NoE gave details about the "Hanabi festival".

It means that during September they'll release games for the VC that weren't released before in Europe. No idea if they're time limited, Lost Levels is marked as "only available until the end of September" but Super Picross isn't...

Mario Week (14.Sep)
SMB: Lost Levels (NES)
Mario's Super Picross (SNES)

Ninja Week (21. Sep)
Ninja Gaiden (NES)
Ninja JaJaMaru-kun (NES)

Sci-Fi Week (28. Sep)
Sin and Punishment (N64)
Gradius III (SNES)

I don't really like the idea of limited time VC games.  First of all how does that work if you buy it, delete it to make room for something else, and then need to re-download it?  Second of all it just sucks outright to have a limited release.  At least with physical games if something was out of print I could always find a used copy.  But with this if you miss the limited time you're screwed.  What if you wanted this game but didn't even own a Wii at the time it came out?  I REALLY hope NOA does not even think of doing such a thing.

Having a promotion to have games that were never released in Europe available on the VC is a really good idea and I hope NOA copies that.  Too bad they had to introduce limited time bullsh!t at the same time.  I see no reason whatsoever to do that on a download system where there is no manufacturing costs.  It just seems like typical Nintendo doing something in a f*cked up manner just because.
Title: RE: VC Friday (Europe) continuous thread
Post by: KDR_11k on September 17, 2007, 11:28:55 PM
No idea what the idea behind it is though it REALLY wouldn't surprise me if they're pulling it to sell another version somehow (e.g. Allstars). Or maybe NoE was just worried they might be better than NoA at anything so they just had to screw it up.

I mean, hell, there's no reason for japanese games to cost 100 points more, either.

Are you sure it really IS PAL? Wouldn't surprise me if it's run in NTSC mode instead.

Anyway, today's update (it's Hanabi Festival Ninja Week):

Ninja Gaiden (NES, 600)
Ninja JaJaMaru-kun* (600, NES)
World Class Baseball (600, TG)

*=The game is marked with a fireworks icon

Ninja Gaiden's text says it was released in Europe, only the name was changed. How that justifies the 600 point price I have no idea. Especially after Super Probotector got released under just that name on the VC.

BTW, I took the risk and bought ESWAT. It's okay, there are no big flaws but it has a really boring pacing. Though I think the Megadrive's soundchip makes the atmosphere worse than it should be.

EDIT: Okay, with some practice the boring bits don't take too long to play through (Three Mile Island is still really annoying for me) and you can get to more interesting parts like Mission 5.

The PAL VC just got its most expensive game.

Gradius III* (SNES, 900)
Legend of Hero Tonma (TG, 600)
Sin & Punishment* (N64, 1200)

*=The game is marked with a fireworks icon

The announcement for Sin & Punishment mentions that it did get an English translation (at least for the menu, training and ending).

If you guys don't buy Sin and Punishment on the VC, I will personally hunt you down and beat the living crap out of you.

That's because that's all there is in the game. The entire plot had English voice acting back when it was released in Japan.

Well, they said it was modified for the VC.

I'd have bought it yesterday but I found that the only store in town that used to stock them no longer carries VC point cards.

Perhaps there's a market for Americans buying points cards for Europeans and emailing them the codes.  I wonder if there are any restrictions in place to prevent that.

I finally got Sin & Punishment but had to pay 25€ for the points card (actually I got it for my birthday but the card cost 25€). It was impossible to get a card for 20€. And that's with Europe's already seriously overpriced points cards compared to other regions.

Super Metroid (SNES, 800)
Probotector II: Return of the Evil Forces (NES, 500)

The latter is known as Super C in the rest of the world. Also I like it much better than the SNES Contra which felt pretty much like "how many times can we change the gameplay per minute".

BTW, Alien Soldier is great (what do you expect from Treasure?). It's pretty much a boss rush, the levels between the bosses can be completed in maybe ten seconds each but the bosses are pretty interesting and the teleport dash (like the flashstep in Bleach DS) really makes it play unlike anything else. I'm currently stuck at the giant enemy crab because I can't hit its weak point enough to do MASSIVE damage! BTW, even when a boss doesn't flash when hit he takes damage, only when your shots "ping" off the boss is actually invulnerable. Flashing means you hit the boss's weak spot and do more damage. It's pretty damn hard to keep the timelimit vs the first boss if you don't know you can hurt him even when his weak spot is out of range.

Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES, 500)

Sidescrolling jump & run. It kinda suffers from feature overload, your character can morph between large and small with the push of a button (think small/super Mario), attacking happens with weapons, one of which lets you pick enemies up and throw them like in SMB 2 or you can jump on enemies which makes them spin like a twister (this does damage to bosses BTW, you don't need to throw enemies at them although you can do that too) and when you jump off they slide around like the turtle shells in any SMB game, you collect money and buy items, you can select one out of two stages for level 2 and 3 and there's NPC houses where you can interact with people. Overall it's nice but I really don't know what half of those items do. You can get through the game without caring about them though.

EDIT: Forgot to mention the 2 player coop.

Seems kinda random. Some games come earlier, some later. I think that what gets released in one region has a good chance to appear in others but the delay between the releases can vary a lot. Just look if the games I post here show up on your VC too. I don't think I've heard of the US getting Dynastic Hero, for example but there were 3 NEOGEO releases when the console was introduced to the US and only one in Europe (which also happened a week later I think).

Judging from how Metal Slug just came to the US VC a few weeks after it arrived in Europe, I'd say there could be a decent chance of Samurai Shodown hitting America pretty soon. But then there's always some peculiar things going on with the Virtual Console, like how everyone has Axelay (even Australia) except for Europe, so it's hard to predict with any great confidence.

For the record, the PAL Virtual Console is no bed of roses - slow gameplay and borders afflict most games to varying degrees (Mega Drive/Genesis most of all), the only exceptions being Turbografx, import games and the very occasional game that was converted well originally (e.g. the DKC games).

The Nintendo Channel got released today, too. No WiiWare yet.

E: The questions you have to answer to rate a game suck. What age is a game meant for? WTF? Which gender would prefer it? Can't we just answer "indifferent" to those? They're going to get garbage data from me otherwise.
Title: Re: VC Friday continuous thread
Post by: animecyberrat on May 30, 2008, 04:36:09 PM
Those make more sense than the questions we have to answer "What age does the person who enjoys this the most" seriously what if more than one person enjoys the game.
Title: Re: VC Friday continuous thread
Post by: KDR_11k on May 31, 2008, 01:22:24 AM
Then you have a fist fight!

It makes less sense because, well, what am I supposed to say e.g. for age when a game can be played by kids? Should I tag all games as the lowest age possible and let people who look for games for their OWN age end up with no hits?
Title: Re: VC Friday continuous thread

Title: Re: VC Friday continuous thread
Post by: animecyberrat on May 31, 2008, 05:45:48 PM
I know that, but the question is who "enjoys" this game the most, before you can get to the slider you have to answer the first question, which makes it difficult. I usually use my own info but once in a while I pretend my mom would prefer it over me if she new about it.

Either way the system sucks.
Title: Re: VC Friday continuous thread

Just select the person who played it and hated it the least, then adjust the slider accordingly (or just input your own oppinion). That way they know that kind of person didn't like the game.

No WiiWare, but five new VC games:

Alex Kidd in Miracle World (SMS, 500)
Fatal Fury 2 (NEOGEO, 900)
Nebulus (C64, 500)
Ninja Combat (NEOGEO, 900)
The Last Ninja 2 (C64, 500)

Nebulus is also known as Castelian or Tower Toppler. Man, I remember that game, found it awfully hard in the past.

Alex Kidd is the standalone version, the info text says that any changes in the built-in version of the game are not in this version.

WiiWare:

The trend of several VC games being released every other week continues:

Super Fantasy Zone (Mega Drive)
Summer Games 2 (C64)
Cybernoid (C64)
Pac-Attack (SNES)
King of the Monsters (NEOGEO)

Is King of the Monsters any good, or just another forgettable NeoGeo fighting game that was severely out-shined by its sequels?

I liked it quite a bit many moons ago when a local pizza parlor had it, but I think most of the fun comes from the novelty of controlling giant monsters and being able to move freely around the arena.  My favorite part was that you could smash buildings and pick up vehicles to use as weapons, for example.  The actual fighting is better in the sequel from what I recall, but in no way is it the same kind of fighting as Street Fighter.  I'd recommend watching some videos.

DYC was "short" (i.e. not something you'll play for very long) but worth the money, right?
Title: Re: VC Friday continuous thread
Post by: NWR_insanolord on August 01, 2008, 10:09:05 PM
WiiWare World gave WWG a 7 (http://www.wiiware-world.com/reviews/2008/08/wild_west_guns), saying it's fun but a little repetitive. If I weren't in the block crisis that I'm in I'd buy it when it came out in America based on the review.
Title: Re: VC Friday continuous thread
Post by: KDR_11k on August 02, 2008, 09:40:21 AM
I got WWG. Turns out 2/3rds of each stage are spent playing two modes of the Wii Play shooting game (not always the same two but ALL of these modes are ripoffs) with some background stuff added like occassional kamikaze guys charging you. Instead of ufos and miis you get vultures and bunnies. The shooting parts themselves aren't that long. Getting hit only resets your combo counter it seems (at least I couldn't see the health indicator in the first three stages) though you'll still want to avoid that. Would be nice if the game showed your current combo counter somewhere but I guess in games like this screen clutter must be avoided. The game has very long load times for some reason and the framerate isn't very high either. Also the company logo is a short movie, I bet a few blocks could have been saved by cutting that (and maybe the background movies that play in the menu)...

BTW, the manual is almost a complete waste of time, it consists mostly of screenshots of the menu options... If you've played Wii Play you'll probably know how the modes work anyway.

I'm a little bit jealous. That game looks so racist. I would to gift that game to my sister. She is Doctorate in Sociology and got her doctorate in Mexican Immigration. So she would see the RACIST mexican portrays and either laugh her ass off or be pissed.

LOL. I might buy it for myself just to have another game to use my perfect shot with.

Well, it probably has the whole "casual appeal" going with shots not killing you but resetting your score multiplier (and unbroken combos being awfully valuable).

Vega: They didn't even translate that one screen of text in DYC...

Dig Dug* (NES, 600)
Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa* (NES, 600)
Critter Roundup (WiiWare, 1000)
NaBoShi - Three forms of action (WiiWare, 800)

This NaBoShi thing looks interesting, apparently it's a highscore hunt of some form with three simple puzzle modes that are played simultaneously (by different players or even running replays from previous games) and can interact. What worries me is that the games seem pretty damn simple, two are controlled with one button and the third only with the d-pad.

Hm, the comments on Wiiware World (http://www.wiiware-world.com/games/wiiware/maboshi_the_three_shape_arcade) contain a short informal review of NaBoShi. The commenter loved the square mode, liked the circle mode and hated the stick mode. If I had 200 more points I'd buy it right now...

DoReMi? Yes in America its 900 WiiPoints as well and I really enjoyed it, even the game is completely in Japanese the only thing your missing out is on the story but it isn't much to it. Each World has a different theme and each level is crafted around that theme it's really neat. The game is fairly easy but the difficulty really picks up at the final 2 worlds.

"Jumpman" was the original name used for Mario in the 1981 arcade game Donkey Kong, which featured several elements (such as the ladders and levels aspects) that would appear in Jumpman. Randy Glover has stated that Donkey Kong was the original inspiration for Jumpman[1], although it is not clear that the naming commonality is anything but a coincidence.

WiiWare-World has a profile for Home Sweet Home, but no review yet as this is the first time it's been released anywhere. Apparently this is a "home design simulation game":

http://www.wiiware-world.com/games/wiiware/home_sweet_home

I'm a little perturbed that the PAL VC still does not have either of the Art Style games yet. With lots of WiiWare games that should be on the way soon (Space Invaders Get Even--originally designated as an October release, Strong Bad Ep 3, Alien Crush Returns) I'm beginning to wonder when they'll fit Orbient and Cubello in.

Also, Hell Yeah for Castlevania III.  Maybe it'll come out here on Monday.  Maybe I'll finally be able to beat it.  doubtful on both accounts

Nice WiiWare lineup this week, though still no sign of the Art Style games:

Alien Crush Returns (800 points)
Brain Challenge (1000 points)
Space Invaders Get Even (500 points, with further level packs costing another 500 points each)

i wonder how space invaders is. The expensive aspect of the game is a real turn off it really gives me a sense they are just screwing the consumer. Other stuff like Mega Man 9's downloads are additional stuff but you got the real game this seems like a real greedy thing.

Supposedly the main game already hits the WW size limit and the additional packs are fairly large too.

I got Space Invaders (plus one mission pack), it's a highscore hunt and the goal is to optimize your per-level scores and get into the internet-synced leaderboard so the lack of missions doesn't hurt it that much. In fact the cost for additional missions might be a reason to revisit the ones you bought more often to get those scores up.

Or has it been completely nonexistant?

This one.

I question if we'll ever get it since the original used the Super FX chip.  I'm not sure if Nintendo is going to bother figuring out how to emulate it properly.  (This is the same reason I'm fearful Yoshi's Island will never make it to the VC.)

You may notice that we haven't received any N64 games that used the Expansion Pak (e.g. Majora's Mask).

Star Fox and Yoshi's Island are both playable through emulators via the Homebrew Channel, and if the homebrew guys can pull it off I'm pretty sure Nintendo wouldn't have much trouble.

Legend of the Mystical Ninja is on the VC, isn't it? Perhaps we'll see the two N64 installments on the VC at some point. It needs more N64 games.

The good news is that Hudson Soft updated their US site today and both "Bomberman '94" and "Detana!! Twinbee" are marked as March releases. Bomberman is a 700 point import title though since the TG16 version was never released outside of Japan (although they did port it to the Genesis as "Mega Bomberman").

Great that they are finally releasing the original and possibly best Smash Brothers on the VC. It is still worth playing today because of how different the series has become. If it takes a month to be released in NA then at least we know it's coming rather than it being up in the air like when it was released in Japan. Plus it's also nice how they aren't charging $2 more.

Plus it's also nice how they aren't charging $2 more.

Why would they charge more? Nintendo only charges more if it's a import title (like Sin & Punishment). Super Smash Bros. is a first party title that has been released here before, it would be a huge shock and surprise if they charged more than 1000 Nintendo Points.

Post by: Mop it up on June 10, 2009, 06:02:48 PM
In Japan they are charging 1200 points for Super Smash Brothers, I'm guessing just because they can. I didn't think they would do that in other territories but now we know for sure that they aren't.

Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask were also 1,200 points. All 3 SNES Fire Emblem games and Super Mario RPG were 900 points each, etc. In fact, RPG's in general tend to be more expensive on the VC in Japan (something that has been nicknamed the "RPG tax", similar to the "Square tax" here where Square Enix charges $40 for some of the Final Fantasy/Dragon Quest DS games).
Title: Re: VC Friday continuous thread
Post by: Mop it up on June 10, 2009, 06:10:41 PM
Is there actually a technical reason why they charge more or do they just do it with games they think will be popular to make more money?
Title: Re: VC Friday continuous thread
Post by: TJ Spyke on June 10, 2009, 06:36:25 PM
I think even retail RPG's tend to cost more in Japan than other types of games, so I think it's just a genre thing. With SSB I do think it 's just because the game was so popular.

Amen. Too bad Frontier is too busy working on an HD project instead of Lostwinds 2.
I'm getting Icarian as soon as it hits stateside. I'm very jealous of the Euro crowd. Though they do deserve chances to get things first like this so I'm not bitter about having to wait.

Sadly I think Water Warfare's relevance has faded in the face of the Conduit. But we'll see.

Sudoku is nice. If it turns out well I may get that. SimEarth I might also get. Depends on how much it is like the PC version I played back in the day.

When is Conduit coming out there? Water Warfare may be a good substitute until it does come out. I just realized I do not know when it releases there. (Hopefully without the horrid optimization issues Sega's other game, Madworld.)

Good point. Water Warfare does have the local MP covered. I love how Hudson was able to pull off both online and local MP in an 800 point WiiWare game while the big uber release Conduit couldn't have both.

Thankfully it doesn't look like it is hurting sales of the game.

Thankfully it doesn't look like it is hurting sales of the game.

What you're currently seeing is the first wave of sales, these are motivated by centralized information (provided by reviewers or ads or the company or whatever). The impact of local MP will only be felt in the second wave that is motivated by information from existing users. Local MP increases the rate at which that second information spreads, the game's owners have more reason to show it to their friends ASAP, thus spreading the experience faster. Without local MP they have to talk about the game which is less effective or one guy plays while the other has to watch which isn't a lot of fun and probably won't happen in larger groups (and even if most of the guests won't get to play).
Title: Re: VC Friday continuous thread
Post by: Stratos on June 26, 2009, 05:32:14 PM
That's true. I wonder if this means that Conduit's chances of being a slow burner/evergree title are slim.

But it does the job and is a good fill until I get my N64 set up again.

I don't think it's odd. The game was released in 1998 after all, and the Super NES wasn't nearly as popular in PAL regions as it was in other territories.

I wish NA had an import month. I still think they should release the N64 Custom Robos over here.
I'd want Tetris 64. If they release that vitality sensor thingie then they could probably use that to emulate the Nintendo 64's Bio Sensor accessory.

That is odd how the price is different from Europe to USA. That can't all be for manual/text/voice translation work, can it? Though I guess making the game be in five different languages can be a lot of work.

That's the SNES Pilotwings, right? I never played it more than once or twice at a friends. Would love for it to come out.

Oscar in Toyland is a port of an old Amiga game called Trolls, the main character was replaced since the Trolls were obviously licensed. The Trolls game had a sequel on the Amiga, Oscar, from which the new main character is taken.

It lets you photograph text to translate it.
Title: Re: VC Friday continuous thread
Post by: TJ Spyke on September 04, 2009, 10:47:55 AM
The folks at Nintendo Life are skeptical it will work due to the lousy camera recognition in WareWare: Snapped. The dictionary app could be useful, but it's a very expensive app at 800 Nintendo Points.
Title: Re: VC Friday continuous thread
Post by: KDR_11k on September 04, 2009, 11:28:27 AM
I'm not sure there's much in common between snapped and this, plus text recognition is different from face recognition. I guess we'll have to see if it works.
Title: Re: VC Friday continuous thread
Post by: Stratos on September 04, 2009, 12:43:33 PM
Ah, text recognition. I was thinking object recognition and then telling you what the objects name and definition was, which felt a little silly unless you were learning English for the first time.

Ghostwire has object recognition software that is reportedly working fine so maybe DSi can do OK text recognition as well.

Has Uno come out in NA yet? I'm curious how it plays.

All 4 games have already been out in North America. Nintendo Life made a point about the Electroplankton games, North America got them in 2 sets of 5 games each while PAL regions are getting just these 2 for now.

As for the quality, the Phoenix Wright is more than worth the 1000 points and has been getting good reviews. The Electroplankton games are a good value at just 200 points (although not as good as thy are in North America since the full retail game is a lot easier and cheaper to get in Europe than it is in North America, in North America the only way to really get the game is to pay high prices on eBay). It's kind of hard to screw up Sudoku, but there are already several Sudoku games on DSiWare.

Brain Cadets was released in North America back in June 2009 as Drill Sergeant Mindstrong. Not only are PAL regions getting the game 8 months late, but it is 200 points more expensive (the game is 800 points in North America).

I think it should also be mentioned that Europe actually lost a game this week, the Commodore 64 game "Last Ninja 3: Real Hatred is Timeless" on Virtual Console. I gave details in the thread I update every few days. The basic gist is that the publisher (Commodore Gamin) never fixed a big that prevented players from getting past the first level (it would crash), so Nintendo has pulled the game from the VC and refunded the people who bought it (while disabling the game on their Wii).

I'm liking Alpha Bounce so far, the powerups can be pretty damn overpowered though. If you get a lucky Q (sucks everything except the outer rim of the level into a black hole) the level can end almost instantly, if it's followed by an O (splits the field and moves it outwards, eliminating two columns on each side by pushing them out) it's guaranteed. The first levels I played were overloaded with powerups where one powerup would break some bricks and release more powerups but now I've worked my way (it uses a grid based overworld and has you explore space) towards areas with very few powerups. Since it wants to be a kind of RPG as well there are items scattered around that you can collect and put into your inventory, then equip your paddle with them (like various balls, lasers, ...). You don't get extra lives, instead when one paddle dies the next one in your "party" spawns so it's important to find more paddles (and balls for them, can't field a paddle without a ball). Was a bit hard when I only had the regular and an ice ball (anything it touches can be destroyed with another hit but it won't break anything with just one touch) between my two paddles.

Bah, terrible week. Only T&T would be interesting but most of us already played that on the DS. Robin Hood is another goddamn rail shooter (or maybe a chicken hunt-style shooter), no idea why devs think that's a big seller on the Wii. Why not make a sidescrolling game like Abuse or Contra?

There's two more crosswords titles listed in the release news here, apparently for different languages (German and French).

I hope so.  Rotozoa is really clever name, and Pentacles is too, but Penta Tentacles is just atrocious.  If that's the case, I wonder if they even tried Rotozoa... it seems like that wouldn't be registered.

I'd rather leave it unlocked and unstickyed.

Gives us a place to talk about random VC/WW games that don't pertain the the newest releases. It will bury itself if no one wants to use it but I'd like the option available.

I've always viewed TJ Spyke's thread as the official release list, and the discussions go here so as not to clutter his thread.
