Interstellar - 10/10

An incredibly emotional, profound, beautiful movie. I loved every goddamn second of it. Fits right alongside the other great New Millennium science fiction movies. That is all I will say so I don't spoil even a second of the film for anyone else here.

I agree with this. This film is shy of three hours long, but is so far the ONLY film of 2014 which did not feel like 3 hours just passed.

Live. Die. Repeat / Edge of Tomorrow

Great fun movie.
It was like Groundhog Day meets Starship Troopers vs The Matrix.
Acton was good, fair amount of comedic elements and entertaining throughout. Definitely worth the rental/purchase.

Big Hero 6!

Movie really has a lot of heart and feels warm and toasty. I was nice to see grown people in the theater watching this movie without kids. (although I was there with 3 of my little ones but I would have seen it dolo) This won't be as big as say Frozen or Tangled but it is right there with Wreck it Ralph.  Also while not yet old Pixar or New Dreamworks in terms of quality DAS has really stepped up there game in the last few years and I hope they continue to rotate between Girl >Boy>Girl> Boy movies. (...I know they can be enjoyed by all)

I thought this was really good as well. Can't figure why they changed the name of the flick..twice. "All You Need Is Kill" might be a James Bond-ish type of name but I really thought it was better than both of the new names.  And thanks Tom Cruise for holding down the Sci-Fi/action themed movies.

Last year's best movie was Gravity.

This year it's Interstellar.

Amazing sci-fi resurgence, love it so much. What an amazing time for sci-fi we live in.

I could have lived without happy ending but otherwise it's a stellar terrific movie.

Interstellar 9.5/10

Gotta dock it half a point for some of the plot, but otherwise this movie is amazing.  One thing I loved was that it dared to ask a big question (like Prometheus), and went ahead and provided an answer (unlike Prometheus).  But this film looked amazing and was awe-inspiring all the way through.

I just watched 2 movies today, time I can never have back unfortunately.

Terrible movie #1:
Twilight Breaking Dawn part 2.
This movie can't get anything about vampires correct.... coven of vampires? never heard that one before. Thought it was a Den. Special powers, like controlling the elements and barrier of protection... is this a vampire movie or were we watching the XY-Men. Doakota fanning I don't think even had a single line in this movie. Her whole role was ::stare intently.....:: ::stare even harder as you mean more harm!!!:: and the CG baby face was a little weird.... and the huge cop out at the end of the final battle not even happening.... yeah, don't watch.
the only good thing was that the vamps no longer sparkle.

Terrible movie #2:
Transformers: Age of Extinction
first of all, this movie is waaaaaay too damn long. the final battle was like 45 minutes of destruction porn all over China. The "improved" transformers made from "transformium" that destabalized and broke down like CG straight of of The Lawnmower Man slightly updated for 2001 was distracting. This movie made a billion dollars and had a $200M+ budget. I expect much better.
And the little purple car made from "transformium" sounded like Wall-E "waaaaaallllll eeeeee" every time it drove off. found that pretty damn funny. Also the boyfriend of the daughter looked like a mix between Chris Pratt and Seth Rogan. something else that was distracting. And why do the transformers transformations have to be so damn overegineered!? Why can't it be simple like the toys that will eventually be made from these very characters?

2 movies I would not sit through again. I recommend you not do the same.

I much preferred the original Japanese source name All You Need is Kill. Admittedly it would have confused the **** out of western audiences though.

Last years Snowpiercer was a fantastic movie I somehow missed. Great action, excellent pacing, wonderful performances and though provoking if you're up for it.

Did someone make you watch those movies BlacknMild? If someone is hurting you, you can tell us. It is safe here. We can help you.

I got a bunch of movies o my "to watch list" she picked one out of the first stack, and I picked the one on top of the stack after that.

Now she is butt hurt because she read my previous post (as I was typing it) and thought I said that my time spent with her couldn't be had back.... instead of that the movies themselves were a waste, and we could have been watching something else instead (p.s. she is a Twilight fan and has seen the movies countless times. It was my first time was my first and last time...).

help me?

Do what I do: don't post when she is present. She is also the reason I don't play multiplayer games with voice chat anymore. She likes to interfere or make awkward noises.

yeah, I didn't think she was looking at the screen as we were watching a show at the same time.
called me an asshole just as I finished typing the first sentence.... :/

oh well. hopefully she got over it once she realized she was being crazy.
personally I think she was just kinda annoyed that I was ragging on her favorite movie series (Twilight). I even got one of her friends to start watching Vamp Diaries, and now her BFF is like "this is soooo much better than Twilight."

but that's enough derailment.

Sounds like TLC. I remember when TLC stood for The Learning Channel and had educational shows.

I didn't know what TLC meant until a year or so ago. I always thought it was "Tender Loving Care Crass" for all the **** on that channel. When I found out its real name, it was a real WTF moment.

I hear History isn't really about History any more either since it replayed WW2 the nth time. Now they are chasing aliens and ghosts.

Just cut the cable already America, its not worth it.

A few more Terabytes of Movies, TV and Old Game Shows on my hard drives  and it "bye bye Comcast".  We already get like 35 OTA channels in Philly, plus Netfilx, but I'm planning for when the NET goes to toilet and I can't get a Nickels-worth of bandwidth without have a a DNA scanner in my hand...(boy that got dark fast).

Deliver Us From Evil

I just finished watching this one (crazy story related in trying to do that too), and it was actually pretty good. Crazy visuals for and pretty intense for seems like a run of the mill possession/exorcism  story. And I saw a name that was familiar during the credits - Director: Scott Derrickson
where do I know that name? That's the guy who did Sinister and is directing the upcoming Doctor Strange movie for Marvel Studios (I looked it up). Now i don't remember being all that into Sinister story wise, but I think it was visually pretty creepy (I'll have to pop it in and refresh myself), but Deliver us had some pretty sick imagery going on that might make some weaker stomachs a little queasy. The action and possession/exorcism scenes were also pretty intense. So this adds a small amount of anticipation to Dr. Strange. Looking forward to a trailer for that one, sometime before end of next year.

anyway, this one I would recommend for supernatural/possession "inspired by true events" horror fans.
