General Gaming / Re: What is your most recent gaming purchase?
« on: March 31, 2015, 09:34:18 PM »
Recently bought Destiny on PS4, Shadows Of Mordor, and I may purchase the remastered Dark Souls 2; also bought an Atelier game on Vita, Rorona I think.

Found Donkey Kong 64 at a thrift store a few weeks back.

Where do we go to discuss and vote for the new retroactive?

Thanks! - Brian.

;D -What are you playing?- :Q
  • First up, Bayonetta Xbox 360: I played through this game in the summer of 2012 on an easy difficulty and had a good time with it, but what I've noticed going back is Platinum games really shines when you go through them a second time. All the upgrades that you wanted the first run can now be purchased, the suites are there, and when it all flows together it comes out nicely. The story for me the first run left me scratching my head in a mass of confusion, so what I've done is read through game faqs, wiki, etc. on the history and in combination of beating it once and now knowing even more backstory the games really gelled perfectly.  After playing the Wonderful 101 demo three times I've noticed similar instances with what Platinum has done there too.
  • Second, Breath of Fire 2 Wii U Virtual Console. As I've noted before I was a genesis kid and missed out on some classic snes rpgs in my youth. But one thing I'm doing before I croak is go back and try some of these out. It's stellar to read how certain mechanics in old school rpgs set staple mechanics for games in futures to come. This game does that. It was the first to do some interesting things that was a standard for games thereafter. After a couple of hours in I'm enjoying the gamepad play and actually had to stay with my grandmother a few nights where she didn't have internet connection. Why do I say this? I had the Wii U under the bed and played BOF2 at night in bed. It has been great.

It should be noted I'm looking at picking up a 3 TB hard drive so I can partake in some more eshop games this holiday season. I'm eyeing the new Dungeons & Dragons Chronicles of Mystara. That game was the first game I think I ever got drunk and played in my lifetime. It was an old arcade machine out in a dock arcade on the beach about 20 years ago when I woke the next morning 30 bucks short, but having the best arcade experience of my life with me and my friends. The game has a nostalgia for me, so I'm probably going to grab it on the eshop. This leads me to say if anyone has this game and would like to play let me know!
  • I won't make mention of them, but I'm also playing Kid Icarus Uprising, Mario 3D Kart, Animal Crossing, and Sacred Citadel!

One of the two games you have on your channel is Bayonetta so you're pretty cool in my eyes.

So i just checked out first part of that.

First, your intro. It has RAGE and angry face on it, so that automatically guarantees i won't watch any of your other videos, because i hate this ****.

As to actual video:

+ good voice, no screaming and stuff and overall calm and collected manner despite what you're trying to say in intro
+ you don't show your face and add retarded intermissions with bad acting
+ you know when to stay silent, though it would help to fill the silence a bit and give a bit of a context and backstory to what's happening. First cutscenes in this game are seriously too long and way too confusing, i am saying this a huge fan of this game.

- use Dodge, like seriously. Even just spamming RT would help immensely.
- torture attacks don't prompt randomly, they become available when you gather all the orbs under your healthbar, note that you get orbs by being good at a game and lose orbs when you get hit
- there is no point to collect Halos by destroying everything on a level, a kill at the end of a good combo will give you much more Halos in much less time
- bad framerate and screen tearing in some places but it's not a huge issue for a let's play, so whatever

Overall: not half bad, but need to be actually good at the game to keep my attention. You have a good attitude and that's a gigantic improvement over majority of Let's Plays out there. So, i guess good luck to you.

Hey man glad I could entertain you to a certain degree! The dodge thing has changed quiet drastically past the first episode; I did note my rustiness and reasons for that in episode one. I picked up a TON of upgrades that have helped too, but none the less keep rocking bud!

Oh also, the rage thing... yes I do some have Vlogs on there that I do give disclaimers if there is a lot of rage involved. The intro you referenced does include an idea, a part, of what I channel contains, but it is disclaimed so I don't catch viewers off guard.

I try hard to be the 31 year old gamer I am. An adult, professional, and different. Thank you so much for responding! :)

Like your videos not as good as jontron though!

Thanks man I really appreciate it. I looked up that guy you referenced he's been in this for like 6 years so I could see how he has done so well. I do have a lot of Nintendo stuff he doesn't though. For example my video on cleaning retro systems and games, flea market pickups, and various other sections I have. He looks almost exclusively like a let's player, but that's perfectly ok in it's own right. I still enjoyed watching  some of his videos. Thanks again for the compliment!

it does still risk violation of the forum rules in some way.

Like I said I didn't go putting up topics in all kinds of forum channels. Honestly I tried to pick the most random channel I could find and the description for this one actually has "anything else" listed in it so I figured a YouTube gaming channel would in fact be considered anything else.

I'm not spamming anything. This topic can be open for anything including an invitation to something I've work hard on for friends, family and fellow gamers.
