Strange they show what they did without naming  platform. Maybe its multi-plat but they haven't decided which platforms yet.

77
I think they must be still shopping the exclusivity around behind the scenes. Or whoever has bought it doesn't want it made known yet.

Am I wrong in thinking the only company that would want to keep an exclusivity deal secret is Nintendo? Seems a bit backwards from why you would pay for an exclusive.

Makes sense in some ways. If it is announced as Switch exclusive now, everyone that doesn't like Switch/Nintendo will start shitting on the game or stop paying attention to it. People get salty as hell over Nintendo 3rd party exclusives, eg Bayonetta 2 caused melt downs. If the platform remains a mystery everyone continues to grow interest in it instead of tearing it down because they don't like platform its on.

I wish they let you use Wii U Pro controller on switch.

I did not know about Kirby and Starfox not getting released again because of FX chip. They managed to get other FX chip games like Donkey Kong Country running in Wii and Wii U. Super Metroid would be my snes recommendation.

This probably only small criticism I can have of this wonderful game, there should like in game recipe list. Even just type that keeps track of ones you have discovered.

3.   I don't know whether this is the switch, my Yamaha AV receiver, or magic fairies, but it seems that half the time I put my Switch in the dock, it turns on my AV receiver and TV.  Weird.  Basically, my setup is Switch Dock ->AV Receiver (Yamaha)->TV (Lg).   My AV receiver is never really off, it's just "asleep," but it never "wakes up" when I turn on the Wii U, Wii, Game Cube, PS4, PS3, or any of the stuff that's hooked up to it.  But half the time, when I dock the Switch, it all comes to life.   Don't know why it only does it part of the time.  Still trying to figure it out.

I strongly suspect it will be fuckery from 'simplink' on LG TV. I have similar issues with raspberry pi > receiver > LG tv. It is only minor inconvenience for me of manually changing input on amp if tv inputs change. There will be a setting on either LG tv under simplink or on amp under CEC or whatever name that company uses for the functionally, to change it powering on/off other devices.

I'm just finishing episode 506. Still basking in the disdain for Wii-Speak 2.0 boogaloo.

I'd like to think somewhere out there, there are still some 'ride or die' wii-speakers to this very day!

A little off topic, but now that the Switch is coming out. Do you guys think Nintendo will lower the price of the WiiU?

I not know if Nintendo do official price cut but I'd imagine retailer do fire sales to clear selves after Switch launch.

I wonder if dickheads at EA, Activision, Ubisoft are seeing year on year drop in sales and thinking maybe we should have chucked our games on Nintendo and hoped for some more sales. I thought this year was year in ps4/xb1 life cycle that was traditionally the best selling, sony/microsoft even release new updated consoles but everything is down year on year in the biggest selling months.

I was very optimistic after first teaser trailer released but quite pessimistic after full unveil. I thought having Skyrim might have been tip of iceberg in getting back the shared games but turns out it is the whole iceberg. Its possible they are holding back, but that is bad move because once you lose momentum its hard to retrieve, just ask xbox one. Then with price, if they high are balling now because they know early adopters buy no matter what and leaving room for price-cuts later on. Again can mess up momentum, then sales are slow, third parties get scared off even more, it just snowballs.

I'm personally exited and I'm a nintendo stooge. But I do wonder how we not go down Wii U route again. I only saw two ways to success, either Wii style mainstream craze or have all the shared games from xb1/ps4 and get all those guys.

Not sure we have full launch locked in. I'm not wrapped with local pricing, considering region free, I'm might go import route. For games, I like to play one game at a time, especially big epic game/rpgs. So Zelda will be it first cab off the rank.

I completely forgot about Wii-speak! Screaming across the room and having audio through tv. I think I set it up but never actually used it.

All the big gaming sites are owned by media conglomerates, vox media, etc. They hire alot of shitty hipsters who are clueless about gaming.

I picked up Assassins Creed Black Flag, and is surprisingly really good game, I'm also surprised how good it looks running on Wii U too. I played original AC and AC2 which is meant to be height of series but Italian climbing man adventure bored me fast. Maybe its because as a young lad I loved Sid Meier's Pirates that I have affinity with this game.

push the cost level so high that the small to mid tier publishers cannot compete and they corner the market for themselves.

Too high, probably. But I would also say that indie games are probably more popular now than ever.

Way too high but they probably expect constant growth to make it work for them.

It is good Indies have come into their own and produce alot of games.

Its alot of the middle ground between Indie and AAA titles that disappear, publishers like THQ, Acclaim, Midway, etc, all go broke or merged into bigger publisher.

96
In terms of the western publisher's spiraling cost and now diminishing sales. Nintendo saw the writing on the wall for this long ago and the Wii was them offering a way out to the industry. It had the high userbase and low end development costs. But the big publishers ignored it with most of their big offerings.

The big publishers really wanted what is happening now, to happen. They wanted to follow hollywood blockbuster model. Big budget games with big budget advertising, push the cost level so high that the small to mid tier publishers cannot compete and they corner the market for themselves.

I like that all three lads voices are distinct from one another.

Having mobile and handheld in same category is dumb. I think 3DS games should be with normal console/PC games.

100
I think Wii U is pretty good in terms of the 'pick up and play', especially with the gamepads new quick start menu where can boot straight into game. The other consoles feel opposite of 'pick up and play' convoluted menu systems, bombard you with ads, and multi gigabyte day one patches before they let you boot the game.
