Studio Pixel's Gero Blaster Most Likely Coming to 3DS
« on: March 09, 2013, 08:20:37 PM »

A Twitter tease reveals Nicalis's involvement in the 3DS version.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/news/33526

Gero Blaster, the new game from the creator of Cave Story, is likely coming to the 3DS.

According to a picture Tweeted by Nicalis founder Tyrone Rodriguez, Gero Blaster, the new game from Daisuke "Pixel" Amaya will be coming to the 3DS. The Tweet shows Gero Blaster running on a 3DS XL. Nicalis had previously announced projects in a similar manner, notably Ikachan for the 3DS eShop. Nicalis was responsible for other 3DS Studio Pixel releases, including Cave Story.

Gero Blaster is a side-scrolling action platformer where players take the role of a frog trying to find his girlfriend. The game is scheduled for an iPhone release in May, but no release date for the 3DS is known as of now. Nicalis is also working on a 3DS port of Amaya's Guxt, a vertical shooter.

This is slightly off topic, but I'm genuinely curious.

Does Nicalis get on anyone else's nerves? I think somewhere along the line they rubbed me the wrong way. Maybe it was their languid approach to releasing Cave Story in Europe, or fact that they released way too many incrementally updated versions of that game, or their decision to not publish great games like La Mulana, or their decision to publish anaemic ones like Nightsky. I don't know, I can't quite explain it.

I mean, I appreciate that Nicalis is out there and publishing stuff that other people aren't, but every time I read about what they're up to I seem to give an unintentional groan and roll my eyes.

See? I can't help it. I think Nicalis must have spurned me in a previous life.
Gouge away.

I wouldn't call NightSky anemic, I loved it.  Actually Nicalis rubs me in a good wa... wait, that kind of sounds dirty. But they're basically a publisher who exists to bring indie games to Nintendo platforms.  Who else is doing this!?

Nicalis annoys me with their constant schedule slip-ups, but i do appreciate the work they do.

I would buy Night Sky on 3DS.. three years ago when it was released. Since then i got it for free in one of the Humble Indie Bundles.

Same applies to VVVVVV, but at least with this game i wanted to support developer enough to double dip years after i beat it for the first time (triple dip actually since i bought it two times on original 3ds that i lost and on a new 3ds xl).

Just deliver the games, okay.
