Podcast Discussion / Episode 906: Greg and I Both Went "Man-Flesh"
« on: December 22, 2024, 09:14:00 AM »

This restaurant specializes in the tenderest of orders.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/rfn/69520/episode-906-greg-and-i-both-went-man-flesh

This week we're back at full strength, and we recorded two episodes to get us through the holiday season.

Episode 906 is an email show. We planned to do about 90 minutes and a few emails. Frequent listeners can finish this thought. For those who cannot: we only did two emails and it took over two hours. The first email asks if our personal "top" games list is constantly evolving and the second is - and I am not making a joke - a Jon Lindemann trivia contest (00:50:02). You would think Jon would have a commanding advantage in such an exercise. You would be incorrect.

You can send us less insane games here.

Next week is our RetroActive on Professor Layton and the Curious Village, but like I said earlier - it's already been recorded.

Podcast Discussion / Episode 904: Bi-Force Warriors
« on: December 09, 2024, 05:30:27 AM »

The prequel that you weren't ready for.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/rfn/69415/episode-904-bi-force-warriors

This week, Jon returns - ignorant of the previous episode's shenanigans at his expense. Guillaume starts New Business with Tetris Party and Alien Storm (00:01:53) and spends the bulk of his time describing Inscryption (00:09:14). James got Arc Systems Works' KILL la KILL -IF during the Black Friday sale for ONE DOLLAR. It's a weird anime arena fighter, telling the side story of very naked titular anime (00:22:57). Jon bought a PlayStation VR2 (00:34:25) on sale, and also played a bit of Castlevania: Dominus Collection (00:50:19). Greg closes New Business with an update on Mario and Luigi: Brothership (00:54:51).

After a break, we tackle a couple Listener Mail. This week we're asked what can Metroid Prime 4 do to be a true capstone of the lessons of Switch (01:10:42) and what we would play if sentenced to a cabin in the wilderness together (01:35:52). Murder, most likely. You can send your hypotheticals here.

Podcast Discussion / Episode 902: Japanese Tom Hardy
« on: November 24, 2024, 03:03:49 PM »

This remake has hit a snag.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/rfn/69280/episode-902-japanese-tom-hardy

This week, we expand on our 1-900-103-4RFN offers with a deep dive on Death Wish 4 (00:00:26). This was nominally part of the introduction, but RFN will always RFN.

After a remarkable amount of time spent on a segment that exists only to let new listeners establish our voices/names and inform the other listeners if Jon is out (likely), we roll into NEW BUSNESS! Greg has a short update on Mario & Luigi: Brothership and then leads a conversation on new NSO offering: Donkey Kong Land (00:13:38). James is back on his... considerate behavior with the newly-released KUUKYOMI 4: Consider It (00:31:04). It's getting hard to talk about these things, they're all the same but they're still stupid fun. Guillaume has some final thoughts about Trials of Mana (00:39:54), and it turns out its a really good game. It's also part of the Nintendo Black Friday sale. He's significantly less positive on the Amazon series Like a Dragon: Yakuza (00:45:43). Jon bought Skyrim, again (01:05:01). This time it's on PS5 and he's actually playing it. He and James also crack strategy on buying vouchers for the eShop and Xbox Live - it's almost game time for these two.

After a break, the crew pull together a list of eight Nintendo DS games, two each, to deliberate over selecting our game for The Nintendo DS 20th Anniversary Retroactive (01:15:27). What did we pick? Listen and find out.

Feed the beast!

Podcast Discussion / Episode 901: 1-900-103-4RFN
« on: November 17, 2024, 04:23:51 PM »

A bargain at any price; that price happens to be $10.99/minute.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/rfn/69119/episode-901-1-900-103-4rfn

This week, we start the show without the pressures of 900.

Instead, we talk Universal Studios Donkey Kong Direct, or whatever insane thing they named it (00:02:29). Do you want a hotdog covered in guacamole, or some other nightmare food concoction? Well, you'll have to fly to Japan, because when Epic Universe opens in Orlando next year, they definitely wont have this stuff.

After we finish educating on theme parks, it's time for NEW BUSINESS. James promised you Ys X: Nordics impressions, and Ys X: Nordics impressions he has (00:27:20). In fact, he's basically 100%'d the game. It's a nice return to the exploration of Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA but this time by ship. Both games come highly recommended. Ys IX: Monstrum Nox, you can skip buggy mess.

Guillaume is playing the remake of  Trials of Mana (2020) (00:49:03). He had put off playing this game, because Square Enix in their infinite wisdom had just released Trials of Mana on the Collection of Mana a year prior. With enough time between then and now, he's enjoying this modern remake of the game we (previously) never got in the west.

Greg has even newer business than James, with early impressions of Mario and Luigi: Brothership (01:06:25). He's really just getting started, so he's able to talk about what's new this time around.

After a break, we tackle a single LISTNER MAIL! This time we try to burden our pockets with extra bones by running a pay-to-call 900 number for the RFN Brand. Join in on our business planning session (01:21:37). You can give us more scams ideas via in the inbox.

Podcast Discussion / Episode 900: Never Say Goodbye Twice
« on: November 10, 2024, 06:05:38 PM »

Ten years of plastic crap and like twenty of this podcast.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/rfn/69043/episode-900-never-say-goodbye-twice

Episode 900 has finally arrived, and James found a special topic for this week. Did you know that November is the ten year anniversary of amiibo? You do now! And after our amiibo retrospective, you'll know so much more than you ever wanted. Can You Name the Non-amiibo? It's James Jones' amiibo or amii-NO quiz (00:05:35). Then we explore the history of the amiibo platform, and talk about our personal collection (00:54:55).

After a break, we receive a missive directly from Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa, the Switch successor is backwards compatible (01:19:49).

We wrap Episode 900 with some of the well-wishes we received. A request for 300 more episodes (01:35:05), a more reasonable request for 100 and a question about system-heavy games (01:50:24), and lastly games that turned into a real monkey paw (02:11:55).

There were quite a lot more well-wishes, and we'll touch on them in upcoming episodes. Thanks to everyone who has played a part in RFN reaching this milestone.

I will take $10,000 to name my first child Turok. I don't have any children.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/rfn/69006/episode-899-nominative-determinism-may-have-set-unrealistic-expectations-for-young-turok-jones

Xenoblade X is coming to Switch (00:08:02). With "New Story Elements." Yes, they put that shot in the trailer. I hate them.

Also, Nintendo has a music app now. I guess. Sure (00:45:04). Cameo appearance from bloodvertising.

After a break, Gui has some brawlers. The Switch port of Double Dragon Advance (01:15:41) and Arcade Archives - Metamorphic Force (01:30:31). Jon has been trying out the beta of Monster Hunter Wilds (01:45:09). Greg is getting into the spooky season with Ghouls n Ghosts and Castlevania (01:56:31). James closes out New Business with Star Fox-inspired Rogue Flight (02:00:34).

Next week is 900. Help us with the inbox.

Podcast Discussion / Episode 898: Soft-Hearted Guillaume Wont Say Kinky
« on: October 27, 2024, 03:06:44 PM »

I will. Kinky. You can clip that.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/rfn/68936/episode-898-soft-hearted-guillaume-wont-say-kinky

Two episodes before the dreaded-900, the crew has a relatively normal show. James, as the show's singular form of structure, gives a real BACKBONE to such an orderly and meaningful episode. Frankly, this is Peabody stuff.

He starts New Business talking about Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection (00:10:53). This games are not kind. Or even pretending to be. Guillaume wants to play Street Fighter IV with all the bells and whistles, and a purchased of a used copy of SF4 + the DLC doesn't seem to provide (00:34:37). He also got an even more retro game: The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (00:45:00). Greg has a short update on F-Zero Climax, though he waited until finishing all the new F-Zero 99 content before fully committing (00:52:21). He spends the majority of his New Business on a retro-ish remake: Shadow of the Ninja: Reborn (00:54:44).

Two emails this week: write a Broadway production for Nintendo (01:21:55) and ID the fake Pac-Man ghost (01:43:22). Email is  your obligation. Email is your life.

Podcast Discussion / Episode 897: Jon Lindemann IS Florida Man
« on: October 21, 2024, 12:45:41 PM »

Florida Man Ruins Perfectly Good Podcast Introduction, Shows No Regret.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/rfn/68835/episode-897-jon-lindemann-is-florida-man

Everyone is finally together again, and Jon is instantly impatient and rude.

This isn't why he's Florida Man; he's just naturally intemperate.

Likewise, this episode is a bit thin on content, and instead of cutting things short we decided to do a bunch of sub-optimal email. Fix it! Fix it now for Episode 900.

Questions!

  • (00:05:58) Does the RFN Crew have an event worth streaming?
  • (01:03:13) Our ?agent? launches our acting careers.
  • (01:34:32) Know-stradamus demands we predict Switch Successor's downfall

9

Rarely, an event is so stupid it wipes out 25% of RFN's cast and 50% of the runtime. The Deccan Traps wish they had that kind of force.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/rfn/68784/episode-896-the-chicxulub-impact-event-of-radio-free-nintendo

I'm writing jokes exclusively for the enjoyment of Zach Miller now.

In this episode, James returns and compares the Nintendo Sound Clock Alarmo to, among other historical events, the meteorite that killed the dinosaurs and the Battle of Kursk. The 1943 one, not the 2024 one. Thanks to Russia for requiring that clarification.

Are these comparisons a bit overwrought? No. They're underwrought...even if my spell check disagrees this is a word.

Wroughtness levels aside, RFN is still down a man - this time Guillaume. Unencumbered by the show's voice of reason, a returning James is able to embrace all kinds of silliness talking about Nintendo's campaign to launch a "new convention for waking up." This kind of rhetorical buffoonery leads to diversions ranging from: "why" to "No, really, why?"

After a segment of this childishness, we finally move onto New Business. James, coming to the show after two weeks of Zelda talk, is reduced to bullet point summation of ideas he didn't hear on the show already for Echoes of Wisdom. Greg is awash in an F-Zero storm with new F-Zero 99 content. Jon is not paying to lose (inverse Pay-to-win?) in EA Sports FC 25, classic bugs and all, and thinking about James while playing the new Diablo IV expansion: Vessel of Hatred.  Next week, maybe we'll all be back. Maybe we wont! Maybe Nintendo will announce a new point and shoot that puts Waluigi in your photos! Who can hope to predict the future? Not us!

You can send us email anyway, I guess. I can't make you; I'm not your mom.

Podcast Discussion / Episode 895: Who's Your Rob Schneider?
« on: October 06, 2024, 04:19:38 PM »

A question we should all be asking.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/rfn/68758/episode-895-whos-your-rob-schneider

This week, Jon continues his bloodthirsty reign as Podcast Patriarch. The self-styled "Alpha Male of RFN" again takes the host's chair, leaving Greg and Guillaume trembling in his presence. Perhaps next week James "Jackpot Usurper" Jones can return to retake the throne.

New Business has Greg giving his post-credit-roll thoughts on Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom (00:00:58), while Guillaume discusses Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons (00:38:25) and Dragon Quest XI (00:46:16). Jon doesn't have anything to add for a second straight episode, but that's more out of respect for our audience who can surely wait another week to hear his FC 25 lamentations.

For Listener Mail, we talk about whether or not we follow the careers of certain video game developers/composers. We also list our favorite gameplay mechanics, and give our picks for real-life game industry stories worthy of adaptation as TV shows or movies.

Your move, James...

Podcast Discussion / Episode 894: A Regular RFN Episode (Derogatory)
« on: September 29, 2024, 12:02:00 PM »

Again with the cat helmet.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/rfn/68701/episode-894-a-regular-rfn-episode-derogatory

James is out this week, so Jon steps in to infuse the host's chair with his trademark professionalism, discipline, and dignity. New Business starts off with Greg and Jon discussing the newly-released The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom (00:02:16), while Guillaume continues with Yakuza 0 (00:36:40). Gui then revisits Cruis'n Blast (00:43:31) and tries Lil' Gator Game (00:52:52). It's safe to say he's a Lil' Hater, but then you already knew that.

Email sees us revisiting our costliest gaming regrets (01:07:22). And continuing with the theme of costly gaming regrets, we then discuss the spectacular failure that is Sony's Concord (01:55:43). Eight years of development was never spent so friviously...but then, we haven't played Metroid Prime 4 yet.

Podcast Discussion / Episode 890: Disembodied Voices Should Stick Together
« on: September 01, 2024, 04:45:08 PM »

And yet there is no one to support me when I have to add 2,000 related games to this article.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/rfn/68384/episode-890-disembodied-voices-should-stick-together

With this week's dual Indie World Showcase and Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase (00:00:00), there was a lot for us to talk about. We were actually a bit reserved, turning 40 minutes of Direct content into only 90 minutes of podcast content.

We do provide some impressions of Castlevania Dominus Collection (00:44:26) somewhere in the middle.

After a break, we knock out a bit of additional New Business. Greg drills into part of that Dominus Collection content with the Haunted Castle Revisited (01:30:12). Jon remains old, with impressions of Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord (01:43:42). Guillaume is still mid-Yakuza 0 (01:57:22). He also leads a talk about the demo for Emio - The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club, and the demo for Shadow of the Ninja - Reborn (02:07:19).

Email me, I'm lonely.

Podcast Discussion / Episode 889: Fungi Have Sex
« on: August 25, 2024, 05:06:13 PM »

...unlike other, lazier kingdoms.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/rfn/68293/episode-889-fungi-have-sex

Our gaze has laid low another Nintendo mobile game, by reminding Nintendo that Pocket Camp is a thing that exists. (00:00:00) For this, we accept no blame.

Instead we have New Business! James thought trying out the latest[ish] Arcade Archives game would be a good idea. It turns out that The Final Round is truly an awful boxing game, despite it's infinitely better (and inaccurate) Japanese name: Hard Puncher: Bloodsoaked Glory (00:11:26). Guillaume has embraced his inner 80s Japanese businessman with Yakuza 0 (00:35:17). Greg got his hands on the first couple chapters of Emio - The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club, this year's least predictable game (00:40:31). Jon returns to hell with Diablo 2: Resurrected (00:52:23).

After a break, we LISTEN TO MAIL! This week we build a better Nintendo Museum and figure out what Nintendo character is a secret fertility god. You can fertilize our inbox by clicking here.

Podcast Discussion / Episode 888: Waifus? More like "Why Not, Fus?"
« on: August 18, 2024, 04:28:16 PM »

It is a moral imperative that we milk these Wa...wait...

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/rfn/68227/episode-888-waifus-more-like-why-not-fus

It's Triple-Eight, and for my next trick it's us reaping the rewards of last week's email exhortations. First up, we chart a path for a chastened Nintendo in the world of mobile software, and immorality (00:07:43). Then, we rely on Chibi-Robo to assassinate Sonic and his Shitty Friends (00:42:37). Lastly, it's Thank Goodness for hyper-local games (00:52:47). FEED THE BEAST!

After a break, we tackle some New Business. Greg's been talking about Mameda no Bakeru for a few weeks, and now we know it's coming to the west very soon (01:29:39). We also spent a little time on the demo of Shadow of the Ninja - Reborn (01:40:35). Guillaume has been trying out things to play, but struggling and instead talks about giving kids pornography in Yakuza 0 (01:47:26). Lastly, Jon has impressions of DOOM + DOOM 2 (01:58:30). That's a single game.

The flatulent horns really stand out with the reverb.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/rfn/68144/episode-887-i-listen-to-groosewave-you-havent-heard-of-it

This week we start the show with Listener Mail. Send something we've "never seen before" here. Does Toon Link have a future (00:09:51), our favorite iteration of the Zelda characters (00:36:14), and our IRL save point (01:19:12).

After a break, we go through some New Business. Greg's been playing Pinball Quest (01:43:28). We've been replaying the remaster of the remake RE (01:43:28). Guillaume is still exploring the 1980s Tokyo in Yakuza 0 (01:47:38) and he and James have been exploring 1980s Yorkshire in Thank Goodness You're Here (01:52:59). Lastly. James has been shifting the earth in Arranger (02:05:09).

Podcast Discussion / Episode 886: Price Shaggers

Everybody hates Kerry.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/rfn/68077/episode-886-price-shaggers

Oh! Thank goodness you're here, James and Gui have been playing Thank Goodness You're Here! (00:02:48) and wanted to tell you about it. That's right, James has new business. Jon is being a right tosser...in Street Fighter 6 (00:28:28). You know, grappling. Guillaume finally finished PowerSlave Exhumed and has now moved onto Turok: Dinosaur Hunter (00:55:46). Lastly, he has thoughts on Yakuza 0 (01:08:15).

After a break, and a counting adventure, the gang tackles a duo of Listener Mail. We advise people what to play (Bubsy 3D) on Switch, and what not (Chrono Trigger) (01:23:01) and regale our adoring listeners with tales of our favorite adaptions FROM video games (01:40:07). As always, you can send us your questions.

Podcast Discussion / Episode 885: We Stand Out as Exceptional
« on: July 28, 2024, 05:33:51 PM »

All two of us.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/rfn/67982/episode-885-we-stand-out-as-exceptional

This week we spend 15 minutes making you think we live in your skull, and also in sharing with you the latest business opportunities for Radio Free Nintendo. The Intelligence has never been so artificial.

The rest of the show is nouvelles affaires. Jon has a look at Epyx Rogue (00:16:45), which evolves into a larger chat on the dawn of gaming. Guillaume slaps everyone with Streets of Red (00:52:21) followed by shorter looks at River City Girls and Asterix and Obelix: Slap them All! XXL (01:02:32). Lastly, he shares some more thoughts on PowerSlave Exhumed. Greg wraps French New Business with an update on Mameda no Bakeru (01:15:41).

Email us your scams.

Podcast Discussion / Episode 884: Kirby In the Meat Dimension

It feels like... meat

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/rfn/67899/episode-884-kirby-in-the-meat-dimension

This week we have a New Business starter. Gui gives an update on PowerSlave Exhumed (00:01:26) before talking about mystery game The Case of the Golden Idol (00:07:21) - just note that it's got major issues on Switch. Greg gives a quick update on (00:29:05) Mameda no Bakeru before moving on to talk about Starfy on the NSO Expansion pack and Theathrythm Final Bar Line expansions.

After a break we take our turn at being BUSINESS BUSINESS with our own (00:48:31) Nintendo Investors' Q&A.

Meg Ryan with huge teeth. Or in them.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/rfn/67881/episode-883-no-no-no-the-meg

This week we're all-in on Listener Mail. We make some licensed games (00:2:26), reboot Casstlevania (00:55:08) and Goemon (01:26:25), and explain why the NES isn't the worst (01:36:04).

Send us your investor Q&A here.

No idea.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/rfn/67747/episode-882-rushing-the-final-boss-hopped-up-on-opioids-and-pbr-in-my-2-star-pants

James is out for the start of the show celebrating FREEDOM. Largely by exploding things and drinking AMERICAN MADE.

Greg leads what is nominally a "New Business" episode. I say nominally because this RFN and RFN Stuff happens.

Guillaume has returned to Tears of the Kingdom (00:01:57), and made a run at the boss in a bit of an under-dressed state. He's also killing demons in Doom-like PowerSlave Exhumed (00:31:33), a late 90s shooter now on modern consoles. James returns here to disrupt everything, demanding Jon produce a book report on Theodore Rex, making this the third week in a row we've talked about a movie with talking dinosaurs living alongside modern humans. He then pivots to talking about Diablo IV (01:11:21), presumably on the first of twenty systems he will eventually buy this game on. Somewhere around here we took a break, but I don't remember, so lets say it was here. Afterwards, Greg gives impressions of Perfect Dark (01:18:28), now on the NSO Expansion Pack. We don't spend a ton of time on it, because we did a RetroActive way back when. Lastly, we talk about the latest additions to the NSO - which just happen to be a bunch of Rare games and some black box stragglers.

Podcast Discussion / Episode 881: Battle Pass? Hard Pass!
« on: July 04, 2024, 08:53:53 AM »

James's recovery from a bike accident caused the article to get delayed a few days.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/rfn/67730/episode-881-battle-pass-hard-pass

Note: Due to Audacity living up to its name, James's audio is rough for the second half.

A little late for the article, but here's what awaits in this week's episode of the Horace Hagiography: Guillaume has been fighting the entire solar system for everlasting peace in Mega Man V for Game Boy (via the newly-Mega'd Game Boy NSO app), then provides a report from the west coast of Canada on their arcade scene complete with pinball on the half-shell and Baby Pac-Man, before closing the book on The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Jon is back on the Diablo IV grind, while Greg provides a bookend with a recent GBA library addition in his 391st playthrough of Metroid: Zero Mission. (We exaggerate. Barely.)

Listener Mail never really gets on the rails, with the first question being how in the hell the Baten Kaitos I & II HD Remaster ended up coming out on Steam with uncapped framerates and the ability to soft-lock on the pause screen. Then the show goes into a stream of injury-fueled "yes, and" as the crew tries to figure out a new name for The Legend of Zelda which somehow contains multiple references to Whoopi Goldberg's biggest mistake before casting various and sundry platform fighters. Obviously, Wilford Brimley is the Fox in the 80s action movie realm, given how busted his oatmeal spoon is.

If you think you can follow any of that, you're more than welcome to send your attempts in.

(00:02:44) New Business - Game Boy Mega Man V.(00:11:07) Arcade games: Baby Pac-Man, TMNT pinball.(00:19:18) The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.(00:32:50) Diablo 4.(00:44:21) Metroid: Zero Mission.(00:57:04) Listener Mail - Baten Kaitos I & II Remaster on Steam.(01:20:15) The Legend of Zelda needs a new name.(01:51:39) Imagine a worthy Smash Bros competitor.

Directly hunting hobbits.

The mid-year Nintendo Direct is here, and RFN is here to give you...a delayed reaction.

36 segments, featuring over 40 games. With the whole RFN crew for the first time in a month, we dive deep into the announcements. We talk Metroid Prime 4, Mario & Luigi: Brothership, Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, and the most important title - Ace Attorney Investigations Collection.

After a break we tackle two emails: Why doesn't Square Enix remake Chrono Trigger and has Nintendo "won" the "console wars." You can ask us unanswerable rhetoricals here.

Podcast Discussion / Episode 879: Frequently Discussing Showponies
« on: June 16, 2024, 04:58:21 PM »

It's just what we do around here.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/rfn/67427/episode-879-frequently-discussing-showponies

Jon's back this week, but Gui is still out.

Not a lot to say about this week's show. James has left his mark on Google's AI Overviews, a "leaker" is the subject of an international investigation, and RFN "leaks" Nintendo's upcoming Direct. Remember, anything we're wrong about is just them changing it to spite us.

Gui's back next week, maybe send him a welcome back message.

Have a weird video.

Never again shall a disembodied, but enthusiastic, voice try to introduce some rogue-lite platformer about the power of love or some garbage by inflecting every sentence like its a question.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/rfn/67193/episode-875-we-put-tomonobu-itagaki-in-charge-of-nintendo-direct-production

James is back from his short career as a cast member, and resumes hosting duties for a jam-packed episode full of Nin... we spend ten minutes talking about hostage videos. I don't even know why I'm pretending.

At least for the first half, things are significantly less unhinged. New Business has Greg looking at Metroidvania maze game Animal Well. He also leads a discussion of the latest wave of Game Boy NSO titles: Mario Land is finally here, ruining our favorite joke, and also more Breakout is available. James has been over-exposed to Star Wars, and decided it was finally time to play Jedi: Survivor, a different type of Metroidvania. Jon and Gui are down the indie cat game hole, with Little Kitty, Big City. Lastly, Gui found the RPG he's been looking for in For a Vast Future.

After a break, its a single email: Sony now has two CEOs, why can't Nintendo? Why not three? Why not 32? Send your complaints here.

Consider this an announcement of the announcement.

James has the week off, so Jon takes over as host and infuses the proceedings with an unfamiliar level of discipline and professionalism. Greg and Gui are here as always, with our fourth chair occupied by Syrenne McNulty, who in turn brings her familiar lack of discipline and unprofessionalism. And we wouldn't have it any other way.

We start off discussing the announcement of the Switch 2...announcement, as well as the incoming Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition. New Business then sees Syrenne diving into Hades 2, Lorelei and the Laser Eyes, and a bevy of other hot takes. Gui discusses the Promenade demo, while Greg has spent some time with Extreme G. Lastly, Jon makes Syrenne squeal with glee by completing the base campaign of Final Fantasy XIV eleven years after the fact, still faster than he took to complete Chrono Trigger.

After the break it's reader mail about how Hollywood and video games have both slipped into boring AAA blockbuster mode. This of course leads us into a spicy discussion about Xbox, industry layoffs, and late stage capitalism. Revolution isn't just a codename for a console!

If you'd like to tell us how much better of a host Jon is, you can email us right here. Don't worry, James will never find out.
